To ask about your range cooker

(including the specific brand/style,!)

Do you love it? Hate it? Why?

I am buying a house and need to get a new cooker asap! I would describe myself as a serious cook and I am flirting with the idea of splashing out on something very stylish and expensive (like a Bertazzoni), but I would be disappointed if the performance didn't match its looks.

Rangemaster kitchener 90, gas hob and electric ovens. Im happy with it, glad I picked it. I do a lot of cooking and baking.

happylittletree · 23/10/2021 10:40

@Imicola thanks! Is the biggest compartment big enough for a large-ish turkey?

I have the Rangemaster professional 100 in black. Duel fuel. I adore it.

I do Christmas every year in our house and cook our Turkey in the large oven. It's great having the smaller tall oven to do lots of other things in at the same time.

huntersmum · 23/10/2021 10:43

Rangemaster nexus 90 electric oven, induction hob. I love the induction hob as it’s so easy to keep clean and as good as gas for speed of reaction. I also invested in a silicone hob protector mat from Lakeland so the hob doesn’t get scratched.

Imicola · 23/10/2021 10:43

I don't normally do roasts much, but last year we had a Turkey crown which was fine... haven't tried a whole Turkey.

happylittletree · 23/10/2021 10:53

So far it looks like people love their Rangemasters. I see they have an enamel model called Elise. Hmmm...

Rangemaster (can't remember the number) but big, dual fuel and 16 years old. Has never let me down.😊

Coogee · 23/10/2021 11:04

AGA SixFour. I love it. A solid lump of cast iron.

I wanted a proper AGA but my husband baulked at the running costs and this was the compromise.

custardbear · 23/10/2021 11:07

I'm on my second range master ! I love them too.
First one was a gas classic 90cm - the smaller oven was electric (think that's standard but check as I bought that about 14 years ago. Loved it

Changed two years ago to a professional plus changed kitchens and colours didn't work with old one) and got gas job and electric ovens and grill - also fabulous

BeastOfBODMAS · 23/10/2021 11:10

I covet a rangemaster, my parents had an all gas dual oven one that only recently packed up after over 30 years
They have a new electric / induction one now and it’s lovely but I think I preferred the gas

NatMoz · 23/10/2021 11:11

We're renovating and will be getting a Rangemaster which I am very excited about. Gas hobs and electric oven.

I've been cooking on my father in law's Aga this morning (we don't have a fully functioning kitchen at the moment so I'm batch cooking as I type) and it is proving very hard work.

VanCleefArpels · 23/10/2021 11:13

I have a rangemaster 110cm double oven plus grill 5 burner dual fuel which is now 16 years old. Never had a day’s problem with it, only thing I’ve neede to contact rangemaster about in all those years is to get some rubber “feet” for the stove top trivets (they regularly disappear down the plug hole when cleaning!) which they happily provide free. Love it so much we will be keeping it when we replace the kitchen next year

VanCleefArpels · 23/10/2021 11:15

@Coogee we had a 6/4 in our previous house but I found I couldn’t fit the Christmas Turkey in so didn’t replicate - although I do love the look I didn’t find it practical!

Bluntness100 · 23/10/2021 11:17

I have the 100 cm range master Toledo xt with the trapezoid shaped splash back and the matching hood. It’s really good.

SweetPetrichor · 23/10/2021 11:43

We have a Leisure dual fuel range - model CMTG95. We didn’t pick it, it was in the house when we bought it. We’ve only lived here a month so haven’t had long to get used to it but it’s not bad. Personally, I find the electric oven a bit narrow, but that’s always going to be the case in a narrow model like this. If I was remodelling, I’d make space for a wider range. That’s my only con with it.

Yes, they do and it's a beautiful thing. Best decision we ever made 😃
highlandcoo · 23/10/2021 12:35

I have a Lacanche Cluny in Ivory. Really pretty and easy to use with no complicated digital stuff to go wrong. It doesn’t clean itself though.
I’d have liked an Aga but it wasn’t really practical in our kitchen. This has a similar traditional feel but more straightforward to cook with. Gas job and two electric ovens plus two storage drawers underneath.

Neurodiversitydoctor · 23/10/2021 12:38

Another rangemaster lover here. Tis a thing of beauty and a pleasure to COOK on.

incognitodorrito · 23/10/2021 13:09

Snap ! Love the efficiency of induction over gas. Really like the big griddle plate for roasting veggies / fish / chicken. If my budget would have stretched far enough, would have got the version with steam oven function (SE) but was also buying an entire kitchen at the time do had to compromise.
Sarahlou63 · 23/10/2021 13:14

I have the Stoves Richmond S1100DF and adore it! 7 burners, 4 ovens (inc. a slow oven) 2 grills - only discovered the 2nd grill recently, having owned it for almost 6 years Blush

Singlebutmarried · 23/10/2021 13:19

Smeg 900 mm. Gas burners (5) and electric ovens.

We looked at the Bertazzoni but we’re told that they were stopping making parts for it (John Lewis told us that) but that may have changed in 4 years.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 23/10/2021 13:28

We have a Belling model from the 80s and it's still going strong! And it's got features that their more modern models don't have; we have two large ovens, a smaller oven that's also a grill, and a slow-cooking oven that doubles as a plate warmer, plus a four ring gas hob, gas griddle and electric hotplate and plate warmer on top. It's awesome - way more cooker than I really need but makes the kitchen feel very countryish and nice.

Saddlesore · 23/10/2021 13:55

I have a 110 Falcon dual fuel and love it. It’s a solid workhorse. It doesn’t come with fancy gadgets and gizmos (it doesn’t even have a clock) but I never used those features in previous ovens that I had anyway. I have had it for three years now and it has been dependable and I love how sturdy and well made it feels (nothing tinny about it).

Coogee · 23/10/2021 15:30

@VanCleefArpels I agree, the ovens are smaller when compared to some other range cookers mentioned here, but there are three of them. I was brought up with normal AGAs so I don’t find it a problem.
