(including the specific brand/style,!)

Do you love it? Hate it? Why?

I am buying a house and need to get a new cooker asap! I would describe myself as a serious cook and I am flirting with the idea of splashing out on something very stylish and expensive (like a Bertazzoni), but I would be disappointed if the performance didn't match its looks.

@Coogee, @VanCleefArpels i admit i am a bit terrified of Agas. I feel that you have to learn a whole new way to cook with them! Like it almost seems like a lifestyle.

We have the aga six four too. If I was buying again I think I’d go for Lacanche.

VanCleefArpels · 23/10/2021 16:23

@happylittletree the 6/4 is gas/electric, so you can switch it off and it operates like any other cooker

Luckingfovely · 23/10/2021 16:23

I have the Rangemaster 110 and HATE it.

Worst decision we made when doing the whole extension & new kitchen designed and build from scratch.

Electric and induction.

Big oven doesn't heat evenly. Small oven takes hours to come up to temp. Grill is weak. Induction hob is half the power of our previous one and one ring doesn't work at all after a couple of years.

Also have the matching extractor which is stupidly underpowered and noisy.

And worst, because it's such a strange size, we can't replace it without remodelling one wall of a bespoke, handmade kitchen. Angry

Movinghouseatlast · 23/10/2021 16:25

I had a Falcon in my previous house and absolutely loved it to bits. I was very sad to leave it behind but there is no gas where I live now.

I now have an Everhot 100i. I love it. Everything tastes amazing, really succulent. The slow oven is a total gamechanger for me as things just seem to cook themselves. The induction hob also means you can turn the hot plate off for 6 months of the year.

justaweeone · 23/10/2021 16:27

I have a Mercury, love it!

Rangemaster 110 induction (light blue) it’s brilliant. Easy to clean and the hob is great…. Once you’ve got all the right pans

TheMadGardener · 23/10/2021 16:33

I have a dual oven gas Rangemaster and I love it. Gas hob, gas ovens.
It was in our house when we bought it. The previous owners were going to take it with them but I made them an offer to keep it which they accepted. The matching extractor hood is also very good.

It can be a little slow so I usually add 5-10 mins to whatever the cooking time is supposed to be. Gets really good results when baking.

So glad you posted this op as I am also deciding. Love the lacanche but ££££. Is anyone worried about opting for gas at the moment?

happylittletree · 23/10/2021 16:38

www.nationalrangecookers.co.uk/cookers/falcon-cookers/falcon-900-deluxe.html This also looks nice.

@nomoneytreehere Personally, i absolutely love gas. I will get it because I think it's best performing and it's still a standard option.

Rangemaster Encore Deluxe 100 induction. LOVE it. If I had to be picky I’d say that you can’t take the top off behind the hob so there’s food down there, and I can’t seem to bring things to the boil on 3 or more rings at once (but that’s probably my power supply) but once they are boiling it’s no problem. Nice big main oven. Tall side oven is great if you have the right pans to fit so when we found the right size we bought 6.
Wouldn’t change it.

FingersofFish · 23/10/2021 16:43

I'm on my second 110cm rangemaster, both dual fuel which I love but different layouts. Both have had issues, the chassis bent on first resulting in full replacement but I've had issues with the door closing and my current one has had a door issue that I've not yet rectified as I feel something else is likely to go wrong soon and I only want to pay for a call out once. I love the size of the ovens, happily fits in the big Turkey and all the trimmings. Can do 4 pizzas at a time etc, all good. The grills are unusable which nearly put me off this time round so I went for a model with a grill in the multifunctional oven and that's fab. It also has the slow cooker in this newer one instead of a drawer and I get loads of use out of that. New one also has an electric griddle on top rather than an additional burner, assumed I'd use that a lot and I've used it ONCE in 5 years and with hindsight wish I'd gone for the full gas top. My honest view is that i could have gone for a cheaper brand and got just as good and I'm not going to get another if we do move again as my friend has an unbranded range that does pretty much the same. I do love an electric hob but they never look right on a huge cooker to me.

BrilloPaddy · 23/10/2021 16:47

I've got a 100cm Falcon all electric with induction hob. It's gorgeous to use, very basic in that it's just got the controls (no clock or timer) but it's so solid and well made. I alternate the ovens, and it's fairly easy to keep clean. We're not on mains gas so it was our only option. DH was a bit Shock at the price but went to look at them and fell in love with the grill!

I have a Lacanche Macon duel fuel. Wonderful piece of kit!

legosunqueen · 23/10/2021 17:01

Loving our Rangemaster prof + 90 dual fuel which we got in August. It replaced an Ariston range oven which finally gave up after 17 great years 😊 that only had one big oven, as a family of 3 the Rangemaster is more economical & I think the side oven will come into its own at Christmas.

nonevernotever · 23/10/2021 17:08

We're also rangemaster fans. We had a 60cm gas rangemaster for 25 years in our old flat with no trouble at all. Now we have a 90cm rangemaster deluxe induction hob/electric oven model and love it. My one and only (minute) criticism is that the grill isn't as controllable as the rest. It takes longer to heat up and then if you turn your back on it overdoes it. I work around it by preheating the grill and then turning the temperature down a bit rather than trying to do everything on the full heat .

nonevernotever · 23/10/2021 17:11

Oh and we got a fantastic deal from Whitaker's of Shipley which for the combined cost of cooker, extractor hood and delivery to Edinburgh was £400 less than John Lewis wanted for just the cooker and without delivery!

cate16 · 23/10/2021 17:15

Falcon 110 dual fuel. Must be 15yr + now, and I still love opening/closing the doors. As others have said- a workhorse that doesn't come with fancy extras.

SprayedWithDettol · 23/10/2021 17:21

I have a Mercury range cooker. Gas hob (calor we aren’t on mains gas) and electric ovens. I like it and it’s been very reliable for a fair few years now.

user1497787065 · 23/10/2021 17:21

Falcon Continental, fifteen years old and still perfect condition and I cook a lot.

cloudtree · 23/10/2021 17:27

Everhot 150i. It’s massive and beautiful

Jowak1 · 23/10/2021 17:29

I have a Rangemaster Professional dual fuel and I love it. It cooks so fast there's lots of room and it looks great in my kitchen 👍

Coogee · 23/10/2021 17:31

I admit i am a bit terrified of Agas.

The SixFour isn’t a real AGA. It is a conventional cooker wrapped in a traditional AGA enamelled cast iron exterior.

If I had my way, we would be replacing it with a real AGA.
