To ask about your range cooker

(including the specific brand/style,!)

Do you love it? Hate it? Why?

I am buying a house and need to get a new cooker asap! I would describe myself as a serious cook and I am flirting with the idea of splashing out on something very stylish and expensive (like a Bertazzoni), but I would be disappointed if the performance didn't match its looks.

Cooker!!

Hellyeahbaby · 23/10/2021 17:36

I had a range and stupidly got rid and got normal size gas cooker, big mistake. Go for it

DorisFlies · 23/10/2021 19:49

Moved house do onto my second Rangenaster Toledo 110 - love it!

Unprecedentedusername · 23/10/2021 20:03

Lacanche citeaux very solid. Excellent after sales service. Previously an original Mercury but new version seems flimsy. Before that a smeg - never again!

DroopyClematis · 23/10/2021 20:07

We have a Rangemaster 90.
Gas hob and fan ovens.
Absolutely love it and had it for many years.

Thebig3 · 23/10/2021 20:10

Totally going against everyone else but I had one and absolutely hated it! When we re did our kitchen I got rid of it and got 2 single ovens and and gas hob.

I found one of the biggest things I didn't like was that it was too low. Hated having to bend down to get stuff out of the oven. My 2 ovens are now stacked on top of each other at eye level. Much, much better I feel. Also felt with the rangemaster that there wasn't as much space as a normal size oven.

I have a 100cm rangemaster professional with induction hob. Love it. Actually use the smaller over more than the big one and like that it has a separate grill.

Interesting, ours is an original as well!
We've had to source a few parts as it was originally made by lincat

happylittletree · 25/10/2021 10:00

@DroopyClematis can you do a whole turkey in it?

I think my fears about not being able to roast an enormous hunk of meat are holding me back!

Rangemaster dual fuel 90cm Infusion. I am so incredibly in love with it. Fantastic for doing a roast. I haven't done Christmas here on it but I don't see there being any issues!

PurpleFlower1983 · 25/10/2021 10:40

I have the Smeg electric range, induction hob. I love it but I’m not a serious cook!

JadeSeahorse · 25/10/2021 10:47

Another Rangemaster fan here!

I have the 90 Classic duel fuel which was fitted in 2007 and still looks like new. (Black)

DH chose it! You could say he is a serious cook as he was an exec head chef in many luxury hotels for well over 30 years.

Even when I have the kitchen refitted, the cooker is going nowhere. Smile

Honestly, you will have no problem at all!

You should see the hunks of meat I have cooked in ours before now. Grin

minimadgirl · 25/10/2021 10:49

Another fan of Rangemaster here, though think the new ones aren't as good as the older ones.

We would have had a range master but inherited an Aga when we moved into our house so seemed rude to get rid of it.

Coogee · 25/10/2021 11:05

You can get a whole turkey in a AGA, as long as you aren’t intending to feed the whole village from a single bird.

happylittletree · 25/10/2021 12:34

Oh, I'm intending to feed the village! But the comments here are reassuring!

I'm most likely to plump for the Rangemaster dual fuel 90 Elise. I would love something bigger, but just don't have the space.

OP posts:
DroopyClematis · 25/10/2021 12:38

@happylittletree
You can put an enormous turkey in the main oven and four turkey crowns in the tall thin oven.

It’s truly the best cooker/oven that I’ve worked with.

PassTheDutchyUpYrLeftBackside · 25/10/2021 12:51

We've just ordered this Rangemaster.

110cm, electric ovens, gas burners.
The proving / warning drawer was the clincher for me so I hope that works well..

Rangemaster 110 dual-fuel. We've had it 18 years and it's been great. Still looks good, but recently one of the large gas burners has stopped working. The gas seems to be not getting through properly. Must get it seen to. Otherwise, I'd highly recommend them.

Hellokittyninja · 25/10/2021 13:07

I have a rangemaster hi lite 110 dual fuel and i hate it. It’s 7 years old, the one oven door doesn’t shut properly and the burners don’t all light. The Oven temperatures are crap and even the fan one takes ages to preheat. The chrome has come off the buttons. They don’t do this model anymore and I suspect it was a dud. The gas hob is horrible to clean. I wish I’d gone for a lovely flat easy to clean hob and some Miele double ovens. I went for a country kitchen look and regret it now.

Datsandcogs · 25/10/2021 13:15

Rangemaster Toledo, dual fuel, 5 burners, hot plate, double oven with a separate grill. 13 and a half years old.

I HATE IT.
HATE IT
HATE IT

It’s crap and poor quality. Knobs have been replaced, doors leak, the warming drawer has been repaired multiple times. All the markings have worn off the front.

That looks like mine, see opinion above.

adoreyou · 25/10/2021 13:18

Have a rangmaster Toledo. It's ok.... it does the job. But I hate having to clean the hob, such a pain!
Also it takes up so much space in our small kitchen, as does the mahosive extractor fan and for that reason we were going to replace it with a conventional oven when we replace our kitchen.

I can understand the appeal as they look so much nicer then a standard oven.

londonmummy1966 · 25/10/2021 13:32

I have a Britannia dual fuel - love it - can fit a big bird in the main oven and sides in the smaller one. Also love the fish burner as I can keep my risotto and stock at the same temperature. 19 years old and still going strong.
