Who would vote Tory and why?

Just a little reminder of the views and general level of competence of your justice secretary, who also believes that 'men get a raw deal'.

@GCITC

I'd most likely spoil my ballot. Left wing politically homeless voter.
There appears to be a lot of this group. Shame someone doesn't stand up and speak for us.
Alconleigh · 20/10/2021 14:38

It's what they (hopefully, I have misgivings about the malign influence of Carrie's Stonewall support) won't do; allow self ID on gender though everywhere and abolish single sex protections. Every other party seems hell bent on doing so. Although the rot has been allowed to spread far anyway eg male sex offenders in women's prisons

Pixxie7 · 20/10/2021 14:43

Would never vote Tories never have never will, they are a bunch of self serving liners . Labour I admit are unproven but I think they deserve a chance.

NameChangeIndie · 20/10/2021 14:44

I'm reluctant to reveal too much information, but I'm an Independent Borough Councillor.

In times of old, I very likely might have stood as a Conservative, but I'm a small 'c' remain voting Conservative - and there's absolutely no space for the likes of me in the party at present.

I feel utterly disenfranchised from the main political parties at present, and, seeing them up close and personal has entrenched this thought further.
Being Independent feels like the only place to be right now, but it is extremely difficult to operate at Council level, where individual councillors are not recognised, only groupings/parties, as that is how the Committees are apportioned out.
I can vote on principle, and don't have to blindly follow a party whip, but frankly, my often lone voice means nothing.

CityMumma78 · 20/10/2021 14:55

Tory for me because there are no viable alternatives that align to me and my life!

Iggly · 20/10/2021 15:02

@Ducksareruiningmypatio

Seeing as I'm an adult human female. Yes. I'll be voting Conservative.
Given that the conservatives have been in power since 2010, what have they done to reassure you that they really plan to protect women’s rights? (Not said but actually done)
coffeerevelsrock · 20/10/2021 15:05

Can't believe the Tory way aligns with anyone's way of life atm unless you're rabidly right wing or have a Tory contact and a company that's benefitted from public money.

I'm so disappointed in Labour recently and especially about the self-id debate. But I'd almost certainly vote for them in a heartbeat. I think there needs to be an alliance to get the Tories out - in my area they would have been out had only one other party stood against them and I'm sure it's the same in most places. I just don't think there'll be much of a country worth fighting for if we have another 5 years of this after 2024 Sad.

I can't imagine the values of someone who thinks this Tory government values align with their life.

And yes, the opposition parties should work in alliance to get this government out.

@TheFlyHalfsMum

This thread is just a vehicle for tory bots. Don’t fall for it people.
Considering the majority of the country vote for the tories the majority of the time, are you suggesting voters are bots too? Are all the people in this thread bots, or just the ones that said they would vote Tory?
Biker47 · 20/10/2021 15:15

I would, safe Labour seat that I think they take massively for granted, Conservatives are consistently the 2nd highest polling, so I vote for them (if it was someone else, I'd be voting for them), hoping that Labour take notice of the votes and can't just take their "red wall" seats for granted and rely on their "useful idiot" working classes to keep their bone idle useless MP's in jobs for perpetuity.

CrazyCatLazy · 20/10/2021 15:23

@DelilahDingleberry

I’d vote for Labour. My priority is getting the Tories out and Labour are the only ones who can do that. For me the situation is far too bad to be voting idealistically so it’s a “least worst” vote.
100%. I will not vote Tory, not a huge Labour fan lately. Tactical vote to try and get Tories out.
Alconleigh · 20/10/2021 15:29

To answer the question what they have done; they didn't bow to pressure to reform the GRA to allow self ID. Which is huge.
Have they improved the lives of women on a day to day basis? Of course not, unless those women are very rich. But are they keeping us actually existing in law? Yes. It's hugely important, not some sort of fringe issue.

CrazyCatLazy · 20/10/2021 15:29

@WhiskyXray

You have to wonder how anyone could look around at this fucking omnishambles and say, "Yes please! Five more years of this shit, thanks!"
Also wondering this!
Noshowlomo · 20/10/2021 15:31

I'd vote for any party that says WOMEN have a cervix

ilovesooty · 20/10/2021 15:32

So there are no other policies that matter to you?

Once Corbyn went I was prepared to give them a chance but not now due to their views on women and lack of support for Rosie Duffield. If that's how they treat one of their own MPs then I'm pretty sure the rest of us won't fare too well.
Dee1975 · 20/10/2021 15:33

Tory to make sure Labour don’t get in. Better of the two evils (and it’s easy to pick all the bad things wrong with them because they are in government. You can’t do that with labour because they are not physically in government. But labour would still be 1000 times worse).

Parky04 · 20/10/2021 15:33

I voted Conservative last time but will spoil my vote this time. Can't abide any of them.

einekleinenachtarbeit · 20/10/2021 15:36

People keep saying 'labour are unelectable. There's no alternative' So apart from the self id issue what do they have to do to make themselves electable ? What policies do they have to introduce ?
I too think this is a fake thread. The nifty sweary insult directed at the tories just unnecessary and gives them further opportunity to moan about the LP Confused

ilovesooty · 20/10/2021 15:37

I've asked upthread why Labour would be worse than this government and no one has said why yet.
einekleinenachtarbeit · 20/10/2021 15:37

@Dee1975 why ? What have they done ?

luckylavender · 20/10/2021 15:37

@Shade17 - so you can stomach this administration? Many lifelong Tory voters I know are completely ashamed of it. Some even like Starmer.

Comfortingpigeon · 20/10/2021 15:38

Labour lost me with kier and the whole gender thing i'm afraid.

MooseBreath · 20/10/2021 15:41

I would vote Labour purely to get the Tories out. That said, I'm not terribly fond of Labour, there just isn't a party that represents me and Labour is has the best chance of dethroning Boris and Co.
