on nov 30th I ordered somethig via amazon(game for ds he paid) thought ok as it is a sellar give them untill monday to post and then should get it by the end of the week. nothing. so yesterday emaild sellar. short email giving product details and asking what was happening (I said Please)
no reply so today i emailed again saying,
please reply with delivery date or I will contact Amazon.
then i received this email,
I don't think i was rude. breif yes. but not rude.

Whats happened is that I have been away for a few days holiday with no access to my account. Furthermore I do not appreciate being threatened. The package was sent to you within the allotted time frame - recorded delivery so I could make sure it got to you. Perhaps a better approach given the time of year would have been to be mindful that there is a lot more postal traffic (there being Xmas cards and all) and that things could take a little longer.

I have already contacted amazon to let them know of the issue and explain the circumstances clearly indicating the relevant dates to protect my seller reputation. I have never had any issue before and I do not see why I should put up with emails like the one below as a result of increased postal traffic.

As you do not sign against a delivery date when you sell on Amazon, I have no idea when the goods will be getting to you. All I can tell you is that the package was sent out within the agreed time. This is all that Amazon (or you for that matter) can reasonably ask for.

If you would like to send me a more polite email, I would be happy to provide you with the recorded delivery information or even progress this with the post office for you

you need to post the original email you sent before anyone can say whether this is a reasonable response or not

amytheearwaxbanisher · 09/12/2007 19:19

well that told you! the snotty woman

YuleLoveHekateAtSolstice · 09/12/2007 19:19

Yes. paste your initial email in here too!

S101 · 09/12/2007 19:19

Cheeky person.

I wouldn't take this personally.

Okay Amazon doesn't have to be quick as they do give the sellers a really big time frame to post the items out to the buyer.

I think too long, I usually send books out the next day or so.

I would just reply, that you had given what you thought was plenty of time, and just wanted the check that the item had been despatched as you wanted to receive the item before christmas.

Some people are just so rude

jinglebells2shoessmells · 09/12/2007 19:20

that is all i said first email said(insert product deatails)
on the 30th November via Amazon and still not received it.
can you tell me what is happening please
second said

please reply with delivery date or I will contact Amazon

That's it? Then I think the seller was a bit OTT. Maybe you should have waited more than one day between emails, but the response was a bit hysterical, regardless.

amytheearwaxbanisher · 09/12/2007 19:23

mabey as it was so brief the seller thought you were being rude and responded that way

Curmudgeonlett · 09/12/2007 19:23

no yanbu

jinglebells2shoessmells · 09/12/2007 19:48

i would have waited if it wasn't for ds...going on and on as only a teen can

Saturn74 · 09/12/2007 19:51

Well, you'll be leaving them glowing and snuggly feedback, won't you?

Seems like a complete over-reaction by the seller.

jinglebells2shoessmells · 09/12/2007 21:09

that was going to be my next question

OP posts:
jinglebells2shoessmells · 11/12/2007 11:46

still no parcel (but there is one waiting at the PO)

he sent me anopther email

Thankyou for your reply and sorry for being gruff in my email reply. A bad week at work and the time away was not great

and added info on how I can tracl parcel.

Saturn74 · 11/12/2007 11:48

At least he apologised.
Eventually!

contentiouscat · 11/12/2007 12:03

Generally you have a delivery date estimate when you buy from Amazon itself and from the sellers too. They do ask that you wait an EXTRA 3 days after the last expected date before contacting them - so if you DID that then YANBU

If you contacted them before that then yes YABU.

Ideally customers would always be polite but that is not the case even if provoked he should remember that "the customer is always right" even when being an arse (not saying you were)

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 11/12/2007 12:25

He apologised of his own accord. That was nice. Your second email does sound rather terse and threatening.

jinglebells2shoessmells · 11/12/2007 12:40

I thought it was ok. as it had been over a week. but still.....
Just hope it is the parcel waiting(can't pick it op for 48 hours)

so do I do good or bad feedback?

OP posts:
SelfishMrsClaus · 11/12/2007 12:43

Did you reply thanking him for his apology?

Your email did seem short & rather arupt.

OComeOLIVEfaithfOIL · 11/12/2007 12:45

leave good feedback

jinglebells2shoessmells · 11/12/2007 12:47

no will tomorrow when I find out if it is the parcel he sent.
so what should I have said(so I get it right next time)

OP posts:
mynameis · 11/12/2007 12:47

Yanbu, I get really tired of this 'protecting my seller reputation' shite. Some people take it waaayyyy to seriously.

contentiouscat · 11/12/2007 13:53

I always look for good feedback in a seller - if he supplied the CORRECT product in the time QUOTED I would give him 5 out of 5.

contentiouscat · 11/12/2007 13:55

If thats how they earn their living then their reputation is VERY important, I would pay more for something from a seller with a good reputation rather than buy it cheaper from someone with so/so feedback.

jinglebells2shoessmells · 11/12/2007 14:24

i think i shouldn't have watched watchdog last week. they were talking about firms on ebay balckmailing peopl3 over feedback
