To really dislike it when people don't wipe their dc's noses?

Yesterday a little boy was in his pram on the bus and had two big green streamers hanging out of his nose .
His mother was facing him so obv could see it but never wiped it not even when it was on his top lip bleurgh!

Poor little boy must have been uncomfy just can't work out why she didn't wipe it?

Apparently some kids noses run non-stop for 9 months. must be a job to keep up with.

CharlieAndLolasMummy · 09/12/2007 18:54

maybe she didn't have any tissues?

or maybe it wasn't her first kid?

foxinsocks · 09/12/2007 18:54

maybe she didn't have a tissue?

maybe she was strangely attracted to seeing giant greenies?

Brandnewchristmaspyjamasgirl · 09/12/2007 18:55

I have 5 and I wipe their noses.
If her nose had snot running out of it she would wipe it so why not wipe a childs.

BahHunkerBug · 09/12/2007 18:56

If he was uncomfy, he'd have mentioned it, surely?

foxinsocks · 09/12/2007 18:57

I actually find those luminous snots seriously impressive.

RubySlippedonastraymincepie · 09/12/2007 18:57

snot isn't the end of the world IMVHO

yes, she probably should have wiped it, but if she is like me she had probably gone out without tissues

Snowmond · 09/12/2007 18:59

I agree with you, it is a pet hate of mine too. I hate having a runny nose and it is so annoying when it runs that I would go mad if I couldn't wipe it.

I hate seeing kids like that as it only takes a second to wipe, what mum doesn't have some sort of tissue or wipe on them?

pinetreedog · 09/12/2007 18:59

dd2's nose has run pretty much constantly since she was very small. You get a bit lax after a while. Never seems to bother dd.

YuleLoveHekateAtSolstice · 09/12/2007 19:00

Yes. It makes me gag.

Vomit, poo, wee..no problem. The smallest dollop of snot and I am hurling my guts up.

I can trace it back to childhood trauma. Forced to sit next to a little boy who used to snack on his snot all day.

I'm churning just typing this.

Brandnewchristmaspyjamasgirl · 09/12/2007 19:01

Thanks yule I pretty much cped with the message till I read
snack on his snot

blergh

Tbh I just can't stand snot and can't understand why she didn't wipe it .

"what mum doesn't have some sort of tissue or wipe on them?"

PMSL

SERIOUSLY? I assume sleeves don't count?

foxinsocks · 09/12/2007 19:03

lol

SHE PROBABLY DIDN'T HAVE A TISSUE!

It's not a crime you know!

I always forget things like tissues.

RubySlippedonastraymincepie · 09/12/2007 19:03

i am the sort of mum that doesn't always have a tissue to hand

i feel duly chastised now

foxinsocks · 09/12/2007 19:06

you should have offered her one. I probably would have done if I ever had any with me.

pinetreedog · 09/12/2007 19:06

I alwways forget tissues

foxinsocks · 09/12/2007 19:10

is that you pointydog?

I hate it when everyone namechanges. I never know who anyone is. Mumsnet always goes a bit doolally when seasonal namechange time comes around .

YuleLoveHekateAtSolstice · 09/12/2007 19:10

I've run out of tissues before. You know what I've done?

Before I tell you, in my defence...I really REALLY can't stand to look at dripping snot, or worse, that stuff that hangs there and goes in and out with each breath

So, ok, forgot tissue...

I grabbed his top and wiped the snot onto it.

I had to stop it dangling. Crusting over on his top I could deal with. Dangling from his nose into his mouth I could not.

yurt1 · 09/12/2007 19:12

I'm guessing (from my own standards) he;s a 3rd born child.

BrandyButterGalore · 09/12/2007 19:14

maybe she was training him to see how long he could dangle it out before sucking it suddenly back up? hey, its a party trick which would go down well in some quarters.

YuleLoveHekateAtSolstice · 09/12/2007 19:14

Is that to me yurt?

2nd born.

my standards were low to start with.

or should that be

pinetreedog · 09/12/2007 19:14

yes yes, tis I.

I thought my namechange was very obv. But it's not. someone else had to ask.

I don't like namechanges either

Dottydot · 09/12/2007 19:14

Blimey. Ds2 could have been that boy... Ds1's never had a runny nose in his life, but ds2 had one from birth until about 3. And we never seemed to have tissues with us. He would have had a very sore nose if we'd have wiped it all the time and I have to admit to using his/my/any old top I could find to wipe it

Don't know why it's got much better now, although he still coughs like he smokes 40 a day...

yurt1 · 09/12/2007 19:16

oh no- the OP Yule

Although mine have always been pretty low as well (well after ds1- he was very PFB, I used to go out with change of clothes packed for him pmsl).

foxinsocks · 09/12/2007 19:16

no, it is obvious. I just wanted to check. I feel more comfortable knowing that it definitely is you not some pointy tree imposter .
