Yesterday a little boy was in his pram on the bus and had two big green streamers hanging out of his nose .
His mother was facing him so obv could see it but never wiped it not even when it was on his top lip bleurgh!

Poor little boy must have been uncomfy just can't work out why she didn't wipe it?

I don't always wipe ds's nose
I know him well enough to know that fussing him causes repercussions, and, all in all, he keeps his snot to himself, so it's not always worth it.
I wipe it periodically but immediately.

I mean not immediately. Gah.

can i just say that i have some sympathy as i've wiped dd's nose a ZILLION times today and still every time I've looked at her she's been snotty and I'm sure people have been thinking like you, "will she wipe her child's nose"

and every time I've wiped it it's been a huge deal, she's cried, which has (predictably) meant more snot. yuck.

Well I do go out without tissues, or send DD to get her own piece of toilet roll and she gets a piece of postage stamp proportions. And I haven't carried wipes with me since she was potty trained at exactly 2, as she is the youngest child. So it could happen to me. In fact today I was at a birthday party with a snotty nosed DD and no tissues. But raided the toilets for some loo roll.

The problem with wiping too regularly, IME, is that the child can end up with a sore nose.

I can't stand children with "candlesticks". It has taken longer to walk home with dd1 (3.11yrs) this las week because we have to keep stopping to wipe her nose. Evan if i can not see her face she tells me to stop and wipe her nose.

I have to confess i never go anywhere without tissues as i always have a runny nose myself (allergies).

Crusty faces I can cope with ....

but green dangly strands that are inhaled back up into the nostril on each intake of breath MUST be removed immediately using whatever is at hand. Yuk
