AIBU to be disappointed in this cake…

I picked up dds cake today and it was not what I expected.

Would you be happy with this cake? I’ve attached two pics below, one was the pic I sent to the cake maker of what I wanted (a family dog) and the other picture is of the cake.

Also his head is made of Rice Krispies as apparently heads are hard to do. I wasn’t aware that it wouldn’t be all sponge.

It’s from a proper cake shop, not someone who does it as a hobby.

What do you all think?

How does it compare to their previous work?

sittingonacornflake · 15/10/2021 15:00

Looks amazing!

PaperhouseLegs · 15/10/2021 15:00

I think its great. What were you expecting?

RunningFromInsanity · 15/10/2021 15:00

No I don’t think it’s that good for a professional actually. The face features, ears and tail aren’t very good and don’t look like your dog.

It’s normal for parts to be rice krispie though.

GlitchStitch · 15/10/2021 15:00

It's a gorgeous cake.

Lulu2021 · 15/10/2021 15:00

@Notwhatiimagined

I think I was expecting it to look more like the dog.

It was £110, north west area

How much?! Is that standard price for cakes these days? 😵

TellySavalashairbrush · 15/10/2021 15:00

TBH I don't think it's the best. Can I ask how much did you pay for it? I think anymore than £25 and I would have been disappointed.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 15/10/2021 15:00

It does look like the dog! Not really sure what you were expecting to be honest, it won't have real fur and eyes!!

chesirecat99 · 15/10/2021 15:01

I think it's lovely and exactly what I would expect from a cake shop. If you wanted a "hyper-realistic" cake, I think you would need to go to a specialist in that style.

Marelle · 15/10/2021 15:01

It’s a cake not a sculpture, it looks fine to me. But I do agree that it’s wrong for them to substitute the cake head for Rice Krispies without confirming with you. Who on earth puts icing on Rice Krispies?

MaybeAMoaner · 15/10/2021 15:01

£110 !!!!!! Shock
Oh my god.
That’s a lot of money for something you eat

HerRoyalWitchyness · 15/10/2021 15:01

It's lovely.

SheWoreYellow · 15/10/2021 15:01

It’s cute, but I’m not sure it’s £110 cute.

clopper · 15/10/2021 15:01

I love it

RunningFromInsanity · 15/10/2021 15:02

The ears should be the same colour as the rest, and they should have done lines for the nose hair too.
Plus looks like they ran out of room for the tail.

SameToo · 15/10/2021 15:02

£110 for a cake??? Do you shit money 😂 how old is your DD? She might cry when you slice the family pet up.

Vates · 15/10/2021 15:02

It's adorable! I think your expectations were maybe too high? Unless you paid out a huge amount and employed one of the cake masters (whatever the program is called about exceptional cake makers?).

Thatsplentyjack · 15/10/2021 15:02

I mean it's OK, bit I kid of agree if this is a professional cake maker and the cake was 120 quid I would probably have expected it to be a but better.

RedCarsGoFaster · 15/10/2021 15:02

What images are you comparing it with to be so disappointed? Other work they've done etc?

GooodMythicalMorning · 15/10/2021 15:03

Cute but not 110 cute. maybe 70 at a push.

Siriisatwat · 15/10/2021 15:03

For £110, I’d be expecting it to bark and shit gold bricks.

FelicityBeedle · 15/10/2021 15:03

The colour is wrong and the fur doesn’t look right, nor the tail. I would be disappointed

ImNotDancing · 15/10/2021 15:04

YABU partly for calling your child after a county though 🙈

almaonao · 15/10/2021 15:04

It's not very good. Not the standard I'd expect for a professional but it's cute.

TheNarwhalBalloon · 15/10/2021 15:04

I think it's cute but i would have expected more of a likeness for that price, and sponge not rice crispies.
