Shamelessly inspired by another thread of a similar nature some time ago, what is going on in your local FB group this week?

Mine is:
Drone photos of the local area
A complaint about the quality of social housing with accompanying ‘mould’ photos. Responses urging the poster to contact BBC news
A post urging us to feed up the local hedgehogs so they survive the winter

OP posts:

A pet Komodo dragon has gone missing according to some posters that have been pinned on various telegraph poles. Quite clearly a wind up but some thick twats think there is an actual 3m long giant lizard roaming the streets

ILoveYouMoreTheEnd · 15/10/2021 13:06

Dog poo on pavements and park
Local football team leaving drinks bottles behind
Are the buses running
And I posted that I needed a blowtorch to kill whatever keeps stinging me at the lock park! See attached pic of reaction to sting on arse also posted on local group.... we all think it's hornets now on the page 🤣🤣

RightsHoardingRaptor · 15/10/2021 13:10

A new Greek cafe has started doing food a couple of days a week and has just posted a menu.
Coach on fire on dual carriageway near me.
Someone looking for an electrician.
Question about local Beavers group.

Redsparklybucket · 15/10/2021 13:16

On the south coast - always always boats that arrive with asylum seekers - and the responses from get the pitchforks out/ send them back/ hope they drown.... to glad they crossed safely and are receiving help and the ensuing rows that follow. All the immigrants are taken off and put up in a four star hotel before getting a council house the same day you know! Grin

Chat gets closed down and another group has popped up that apparently isn't racist or any ism(set up by a proud supporter of UKIP/BNP/Farage/Trump) but wont tolerate the woke agenda - its fun to observe!

MrsToothyBitch · 15/10/2021 13:25

People asking for cleaner recommendations.
People advertising their cleaning services.
People look for p/t work.
Someone suggesting that anyone looking for work should set up as a cleaner.
People advertising other business.
Items wanted/for sale.
Where to buy petrol.
Ongoing saga of a stray cat not being someone's missing cat because the marking on the nose are incorrect. Lady insistent that it is her cat.
Complaint about two blokes peeing in bushes.
Someone asking where some ponies who are usually in a particular field have gone.
MH awareness posts.
Charity boxing match promo post from one of the boxers.

MrsToothyBitch · 15/10/2021 13:26

Oh and lots of run over cats Sad

PorkTheDork · 15/10/2021 13:30

Someone is trying to sell a random old paper for £10. No idea why.

rosesinmygarden · 15/10/2021 13:33

Accusations about missing Amazon parcels.

Complaints about the mobile chip van's timetable.

Lots of ring doorbell footage of 'suspicious' people and vehicles who happen to drive or walk through the estate.

DillonPanthersTexas · 15/10/2021 13:34

You posted your arse on a Facebook group!! You are more brave then me!

IncyWincyGrownUp · 15/10/2021 22:11

Roadworks, how dare the council?!
Bicycle lanes, how dare the council?!
Fair, how dare…
Local street artist’s new piece, usually somebody asking if it’s a Banksy, half the rest bleating on about how dare the council allow it.

WingingItSince1973 · 15/10/2021 23:02

It properly kicked off on our local community page yesterday as a registered paedophile moved into the estate and was seen hanging around the primary school. This is a woman who has a conviction from a couple of years ago and has now moved out of her area to ours. Her pic and address was printed, taken down then posted again. Admin finally let it run as her photo was covered over. Will see how it pans out over the weekend!

baffledcoconut · 16/10/2021 01:05

Someone asking for recommendations for 1st fix chippy.

Responses are 50/50 for the local carpenters or chip shops.

BritWifeInUSA · 16/10/2021 05:46

Elections, elections, more elections, pictures of local wildlife (bears, coyotes, cougars, whales, seals), the cost of the new tsunami rescue tower and more elections. I’ll be glad when the elections are over.

mamaduckbone · 16/10/2021 08:47

An update on the crochet Christmas tree, a picture of a credit card that's been handed in at Lidl and lots of people asking for recommendations for tradespeople.

IveGotASongThatllGetOnYNerves · 16/10/2021 08:54

Details of the next market, some bits and bobs for sale, handyman offering various services, the garden centre has some new stuff in, there's a road closure, some sports activities, book club info and a local society has a talk about the area coming up.

Oh the excitement. I need a lie down.

Porcupineintherough · 16/10/2021 09:08

No idea, I left but based on the few months previously:
-lost cats/cat found

  • complaints about a dog barking
  • local cafe's latest cheesecake offering
-"European looking" men existing acting suspiciously
FAQs · 16/10/2021 09:11

A poster on here lives in the same village as me, it’s not a large village, so funny to recognise it though 🤣

Fallulah · 16/10/2021 09:16

Ours has banned fireworks posts.

People asking what areas of the town are good to live in - people who live in the areas you would not want to live in always reply first, saying they’ve lived there for decades and never had any problems. Nobody is ever brave enough to be honest and say there are really only about three areas of town you would want to buy a house in!

arrangeyourface · 16/10/2021 10:22

‘To the woman who lets there dog poo on my drive I have ring footage of you and will post it here if you don’t come back immediately and clean it up!’ Cue dozens of posts shouting ‘name and shame!’ closely followed by the admin reminding people that name and shame isn’t allowed, then more people shouting that the admin is a stasi and is censoring free speech.

Recently implemented parking charges at a local beauty spot has sparked OUTRAGE. Literally every day there are foaming posts about it which run into hundreds of replies.

Noise from the police helicopters.

‘Just saw a white van driving down my road, anyone else seen it?’ This is invariably followed by lots of posts claiming the van had two brown men in who were looking at dogs/looking at houses/being suspicious/driving slowly (delete as appropriate) and loads of people saying ‘report it, hun’.

Lots of photos of mushrooms.

Found a bank card, whose is it?

Angry posts about dogs chasing deer.

Well-known local rambler posting 307 photos of the fields she walked through that day.

Meggie2008 · 16/10/2021 10:26

A run over cat
People speeding down a residential street
Kids egging windows at night

KloppsTeeth · 17/10/2021 00:44

🚨🚨🚨 Alert! 🚨🚨🚨
A white van has been spotted in Joan’s cul de sac (not a euphemism). She has never seen this van before and he “looks foreign” Hmm the driver has driven down the road twice in two days. She is appealing for any info on where this van has been as she reported it to 101 and they didn’t take her seriously Grin

LibrariesGiveUsPower45321 · 17/10/2021 01:01

Mostly photos of sheep, either stuck in a fence or with foot rot, asking who the farmer is.

Gingerkittykat · 17/10/2021 01:28

Ours has gone cat crazy. This new trend is to take a photo of a “found” cat, which is just a random cat in either your garden or a public place.
Then post declaring the cat is lost and does anyone know who it belongs to. All of these cats have owners, they are just cats roaming about.

In my group there are now loads of posts from people asking who is feeding their cat and to stop doing it with some posters defending the idiots who are feeding the cats.

Apart from that, it's the fact that planning permission has been granted for a third Mcdonalds in a mile long stretch. It is a ridiculous place to put it with the roads in gridlock already around that small retail park.

We have much the same thing. There’s someone locally with a chip scanner so every time a ‘found cat’ post appears, someone tags her. Then you get a load of people saying ‘I’ll have the cat if no-one wants it’. Then the owner will pop up indignantly pointing out that it’s their cat, it’s healthy and fed and can they please just leave it alone. Then everyone starts ranting at the poor owner demanding to know why the cat is out and about (because it’s a cat?).

Oh, and they refer to pets as ‘furbabies’ which gives me rage.
