Shamelessly inspired by another thread of a similar nature some time ago, what is going on in your local FB group this week?

Mine is:
Drone photos of the local area
A complaint about the quality of social housing with accompanying ‘mould’ photos. Responses urging the poster to contact BBC news
A post urging us to feed up the local hedgehogs so they survive the winter

Recently the local church held a beer festival and pictures of people sitting on headstones swigging beer started on the local group and then made the national news.

Ummm

A post this morning about a protest (with banners even) about maintenance of the local skate park

A post asking if everyone has their tv channels back because a couple of months ago the local transmitter mast caught fire and we all lost our TV channels for like a month, evidently some people are still missing channels

A post about a local village play park that is a "hidden gem" with accompanying photos

Planet we're nearby. I had no idea so many people still uaed terrestrial tv!

Donkeys escaping from the field opposite the factory. It's the third time this month. Apart from that, not much.

Cat spotted, being a cat, doing cat things. Woman with a microchip scanner demands all the details of sightings so she can scan it. She offers to scan every living creature in the area and gets shirty if asked to just hold on a while as poster pretty sure they know whose it is and would rather it wasn’t scooped into a wire cage and whisked away to be scanned.

Just Eat delivery drivers parking where they shouldn’t.

Local Council providing food for children in the holidays. Equal split between What A Good Idea and WhY aRE yOu UsInG mY CoUnCiL TaX FoR tHiS.

People letting their cats out and then panicking because their cat is not at home and would everyone check their sheds. Ad infinitum.

People looking for rental accommodation
People loosing /finding stuff
Complaints about dog poo
Constant pictures of the sunrise/sunset (yes we live in a beautiful place, we get it!!)

CHILDS TOY FOUND
owner will need to tell me what colour it's ears are before i return it

Helicopters - always asking about/moaning about helicopters!

Last 2 weeks have been mainly petrol-where can I get petrol related posts, that seems to have died down

Pictures of the local ‘famous’ cat

Work vans being broken in to or catalytic converters being stolen (during the day in front of the car owners)

I think you live near me! Is there green bin drama too?

Loads of stuff about southern water pumping shit into our ocean.
Tons of people asking where's the best place to trick or treat. Probably really annoying for the people living on roads that get recommended and then have the whole town turn up there wanting sweets.

The fireworks arguments have started already as someone definitely heard some somewhere! And the usual why was there a police helicopter last night with the usual mix of wild speculation and those telling them to mind their own business

So yes the TV signal, bizarre tales of how the TV in the front room works but not the one in the back room. Lots of people with no signal at all.

Mainly local adverts including the local podiatry clinic with lots of photos.

My other one is about some terrible ASB that is happening in the area (it really is high level ASB), it is where I used to live and I know quite a few people there and it is really sad and shocking.

There’s a bin strike on so currently all pictures of overflowing bins, people moaning about the strike, people moaning about people taking the chance to fly tip anything (yes now is great time to dump your old mattress..), just take it to the tip posters baffled every time that not everyone drives, “shall we all hire a van to take our rubbish to the tip?” and threats to dump rubbish at the council office.

Makes a change from bicycle lane moaning!

Lots and lots of campaigning against low traffic neighborhoods - apparently everyone who drives here has no legs and 6 disabled children and elderly parents and it's absolutely essential that they drive everywhere as it's London zone 3 and there is no public transport

Many posts asking who owns perfectly happy looking outdoor cats

Discussions on the relative merits of the different primary schools.
Debate on whether the Freecycle rules should be changed.

Speeding tractors

Local kids rugby team looking for new players
Complaining about the covid test centre that is in the car park of a local park/ beauty spot/ favourite dog walking trail.
A few requests for recommendations for a painter / mechanic/ child sports class
And my favourite, someone has found some photos of the local area from the 40s, 50s & 60s and is posting them randomly, sometimes with accompanying photos of the same place now.

Parking advice for at the train station.

Dog poo, lost cats, teens on bikes existing near the shops, The Area Has Gone Downhill (I’ve lived here nine years and it hasn’t, its just false nostalgia), requests for cake makers, lady makes Medic Alert key fobs, recommendations for plumbers and adverts from a local kickboxing club for fun half term activities.

Long running complaints about the fact that B&M were denied permission to open an out of town store.

Long running complaints about a new housing estate that resulted in the loss of a field. Town is surrounded by fields.

Long running complaints about a party house in the centre of town and its parking arrangements.

Long running complaints about "incomers" who have moved to the town and changed it. No one can be specific about what changes this collective of incomers have changed, nor what defines an incomer, i.e, is it someone who was born outside of the town, the borough, the county?

It's actually a lovely place to live if you ignore the FB lot.

Today we have a looooong post from a lady introducing her cat along with a photo of said cat sitting imperiously by some flowers. The long and short of it is that the cat is staying home permanently from now on, so if you don’t see him, please don’t worry that he’s died - he’s perfectly safe. But there’s also information on his medical issues, special diet, temperament and flea collar.
