To ask how often you shower

Inspired by a lot of comments posted in a recent thread on here! (Apologies if there is already a thread on here as I'm not too sure how to navigate MN fully yet.)

How often do you shower/have a bath? Twice a day, daily, couple times a week, weekly etc. If you don't shower daily, do you just have a quick sink wash on the days you don't shower or do you simply brush your teeth and straight out of the door? I'm intrigued to know and hoping people will be a bit more honest as it's an anonymous forumWink

On this recent thread, a poster had made several comments saying they don't understand how people only wash themselves with their hands and not a flannel or sponge. AIBU to think that using your hands to wash is quite common and seems to be done by the majority?

There was also a comment by another poster about not washing their legs in the shower as soap and hot water runs down them so no need to focus on these areas specifically.
Quite a random topic but I'm intrigued to hear from other people on here

Bath twice a day

icedcoffees · 15/10/2021 07:54

Daily. I work a very physical job so it's not optional Grin

ChorizoJacketPotato · 15/10/2021 07:55

I genuinely think sink washes are more effort than a shower.

Bath / shower once a day. More in summer.

FWBNC · 15/10/2021 07:57

@sendaisnow

Can someone explain the mechanics of a strip/sink bath?

Honestly not being goady. O just don't know how it works. I may need to incorporate it into my life.

If you have a working shower you really really don't. Twice as much effort to get half as clean.
onelittlefrog · 15/10/2021 07:58

Apologies if there is already a thread on here

There are. So many.

FWBNC · 15/10/2021 08:02

@Coffeeand

I shower every time someone starts a thread about showering.
Maybe you need a name change? Prune seems more fitting 🤣🤣
FWBNC · 15/10/2021 08:04

@mountbattenbergcake

I have quite sensitive skin, so there is always the fear that a shower will trigger a reaction, but thankfully this is much better now that I’ve stopped using fabric conditioner

Were you washing in it 😂😂

Joking aside, I'm glad you've eliminated one trigger!

Folklore9074 · 15/10/2021 08:08

Twice a day (it's just part of my routine & I like it using nice shower products to help me relax), hair twice a week though to keep the colour looking bright for longer.

yesterdayisinthepast · 15/10/2021 08:15

To the people who have commented saying there's many threads on this topic/this topic comes up every fortnight etc. I'm hardly on MN as I'm so busy but I came on today and read a similar thread which inspired this one. I did apologise in case there were any threads on this topic but seems some people can't help themselves!

I also shower every morning but I think it's more of a psychological thing (similar to what a pp said.) I feel as if my day can't start unless I've had a shower!😂 once showered I feel ready to start the day.
Due to my hair type I only have to wash my hair about once a month as it's always in a protective style such as braids or a wig

For the person that said they have two baths a day, I wish I had the time to have two baths a day! I find baths so relaxing but so time consuming at the same time.
I definitely think showers are just easier and quicker especially if you're short on time

YouTubeAddict · 15/10/2021 08:19

About every other day unless I’ve done something particularly strenuous and got very sweaty.

yesterdayisinthepast · 15/10/2021 08:20

@sendaisnow as pp have mentioned, I've always known a strip/sink wash to be 'face, bits and pits.'

If I'd ever wake up late for school and had no time for a shower, I'd have a quick sink wash to make sure all the essentials were clean and smelling fresh. Then have a bath when I had returned home. I don't agree that a sink wash takes about the same time as a shower but then again it depends how long you spend in the shower!

@Monsterpage

I’d love to have this question answered alongside the question of “are you on a water meter?!” I am and the cost of having a bath or shower once or twice a day for me and my household would be significant.
In Scotland there is no water meter or water bill . It's part of our council tax . But to be fair we have no problems with rainfall in Scotland .
LemonMeringueThreePointOneFour · 15/10/2021 08:33

Every hour on the hour.

Lifeinthescratcher · 15/10/2021 08:37

Every other day, have health issues and I don’t do it every say to conserve energy.

Ducksarenotmyfriends · 15/10/2021 08:47

Annually. I strip off and stand in the rain otherwise to imbibe that natural, earthy scent and walk barefoot in bogs.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 15/10/2021 08:51

I cannot believe the people who shower TWICE a day. Totally not necessary and a reason why the earth is dying.

I shower every other day as that seems reasonable to me. DH showers every day abs has dry skin issues.

In between I wash my face and moisturise and clean teeth. I wear clean pants and socks every day and use Nuud (game changer) under my arms every few days as that's how it works.

I am very aware of my carbon footprint.

SockFluffInTheBath · 15/10/2021 08:53

@Monsterpage we're metered. Total 5 showers per day and our water is about £40pm. We very rarely have baths, don’t use tap water on the garden, or to wash the cars.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 15/10/2021 08:53

@furbabymama87

I have a bath twice a day. I don't really pay any attention to my legs but I have bubbles in the bath and they aren't dirty.
I simply can't fathom this. A BATH? twice a day. You have way too much time and don't give a stuff about the environment.
breakforthewest · 15/10/2021 09:03

Every Sunday I have a bath..without fail.

Offmyfence · 15/10/2021 09:04

Clean vest and knickers as well?
BippityBoppity87 · 15/10/2021 09:28

Depends what I'm doing. Usually every other day. On the two days I work, I shower both days the night before (usually have to be up at 5am, so saves me time in the morning) but the others days all I'm really doing is the school run, so I don't think it's necessary. I make sure I put clean clothes on though and deodorant. So roughly 4 times a week. Hair wash 3 times a week

CounsellorTroi · 15/10/2021 09:34

Daily, twice if I go to the gym. Wash hair once a week.

OhGiveUp · 15/10/2021 09:37

I shower and wash my hair every morning, and I have a bath and wash my hair every evening.
Although sometimes I'll switch the shower for a bath instead.

anotherworkingsunday · 15/10/2021 09:38

I shower maybe once every three days, when my hair starts to get greasy. Hardly use deodorant, as I don’t sweat much, and wear loose, breathable clothing. I don’t do sports, which helps, just walk lots and always take the stairs (even to the sixth floor or so). Never use showergel or so either. I don’t have issues with body odor.

I used to shower every day and a half (Mon morning, Tue evening, Thu morning, Fri evening, etc.), but realised I did not need it that often.
