To ask how often you shower

Inspired by a lot of comments posted in a recent thread on here! (Apologies if there is already a thread on here as I'm not too sure how to navigate MN fully yet.)

How often do you shower/have a bath? Twice a day, daily, couple times a week, weekly etc. If you don't shower daily, do you just have a quick sink wash on the days you don't shower or do you simply brush your teeth and straight out of the door? I'm intrigued to know and hoping people will be a bit more honest as it's an anonymous forum

On this recent thread, a poster had made several comments saying they don't understand how people only wash themselves with their hands and not a flannel or sponge. AIBU to think that using your hands to wash is quite common and seems to be done by the majority?

There was also a comment by another poster about not washing their legs in the shower as soap and hot water runs down them so no need to focus on these areas specifically.

Oh, and I use my hands and bar soap, but use a flannel for my face.

Every day in summer, every other day in winter.

This summer just gone two different friends stayed at my house at different times.

Although I gave them each a fresh towel and told them they were welcome to use either the bathtub or the shower cubicle whenever they liked, all toiletries provided, I noticed that one took neither a shower or a bath the whole week and the other had only one shower in a ten-day stay.

Daily because I have to run about in work but not always when I'm off unless has been really hot or have done a lot of exercise. Hair 3 times a week and and yes to a quick wash with hands sometimes!!

Daily in the evenings. In summer I might have quick shower in morning if it’s been a hot night. Wash hair four times a week. Just use my hands.

Every morning, and before bed if I've been to yoga.

Most days. I occasionally skip a day if I’m just going to be slobbing around the house on my own. On those days I brush my teeth, dry shampoo my hair, wash my face, and use a flannel for a quick sink wash.

I use a loofah to wash myself in the shower, including legs and feet. I rarely have a bath, only every few weeks and generally only if I’m ill or feeling sore.

Probably 2-3 times a week, wash hair when showering. Don't feel the need for more

Daily, usually in the evening as I like to 'wash the day off' (yeah, sorry, that sounds wanky) and I also have more time. I'm doing a million things in the morning and don't like rushing.

I use a shower puff thing and always thought it was weird that DH uses his hands, but apparently it isn't.

I wash my legs purely because I shave them in every shower.

Shower daily using bar soap. Wash my hair every second day.

Shower (or bath) every 3-4 days.
Bits/pits wash daily.
Hair wash usually every 7-10 days (I have VERY dry hair).

The country I live in can be hot and we often have drought conditions. If the drought is a particularly bad, the Water Board can advise households to shower for three minutes only (they supply timers for this purpose), and it is best to keep it to every other day unless you are a manual labourer. So we're used to water conservation, and I generally shower 3-4 times a week, washing my hair once in that time. It works fine for me and I don't seem to smell.

We do wash too much - as a child everyone seemed to wash once a week but suddenly that’s turned into every day. I don’t really use the shower but mainly because it doesn’t make me feel as clean as soaking in the bath. I do that at least every other day but sometimes every day and wash my hair every 2-3 days but I wish I could leave it longer. Washing every day really isn’t good for our skin though. My DP constantly mins about dry skin but carries on showering sometimes twice a day. 🙄.

Also, a sink wash takes more time than a shower and is far more hassle.

I have a quick (3 minute) shower every morning. Wash hair on alternate days as it gets greasy quickly.

I have a bath every other day on average, in the evening. Sometimes my husband gets in after which I know the majority will find strange!

Shower every morning. Sometimes a bath at night too. Wash hair every other day. Never used a flannel.
Only time I don’t shower is if I’m hungover which is rare these days or ill.

I shower once a day, in the morning. I also shower after the gym, usually just a quick in and out though.

Now I'm old I don't sweat and have never exercised so daily shower is unnecessary.

I can soap dodge for days on end. I joke with the teenage boys that we're in competition about soap-dodging (when they smell).

Happy to be me. If my habits make people stay away from me then that's wonderful. What's not to like.

Twice a day, morning and evening and a few time's a week more if have been to gym in middle of the day rather than evening/swimming with kids when I'll shower after and then again before bed. Most times it's just in and out in a few mins, only wash hair twice a week at most!

Every day. Otherwise I smell. Very rarely if I don't leave the house I won't shower that day but I always feel very minging and have to shower straight away the next day.

I’d love to have this question answered alongside the question of “are you on a water meter?!” I am and the cost of having a bath or shower once or twice a day for me and my household would be significant.

@Monsterpage - yes l have a water meter and l shower twice a day. Hygiene is the last place l’m going to make economy cuts.
