To ask how often you shower

Inspired by a lot of comments posted in a recent thread on here! (Apologies if there is already a thread on here as I'm not too sure how to navigate MN fully yet.)

How often do you shower/have a bath? Twice a day, daily, couple times a week, weekly etc. If you don't shower daily, do you just have a quick sink wash on the days you don't shower or do you simply brush your teeth and straight out of the door? I'm intrigued to know and hoping people will be a bit more honest as it's an anonymous forumWink

On this recent thread, a poster had made several comments saying they don't understand how people only wash themselves with their hands and not a flannel or sponge. AIBU to think that using your hands to wash is quite common and seems to be done by the majority?

There was also a comment by another poster about not washing their legs in the shower as soap and hot water runs down them so no need to focus on these areas specifically.
Quite a random topic but I'm intrigued to hear from other people on here

Perhaps not one day but going two or three days without showering , and doing normal day to day things like gym, running errands , walking the dogs etc , I struggle to think anyone would still smell clean and fresh.

RuthW · 15/10/2021 12:05

Daily. Hair once or twice a weeek

HelpMeWithMyHip · 15/10/2021 12:07

@queenofarles

as a human being living in the western world and I'm not working down the mines or shovelling shit, I will not be getting dirty it’s not just about getting physical dirt on you, sometimes it’s the buildup of skin oils, dead skin 🤢. Few times I felt really sick standing next to some people , it’s not BO but something really pungent.
That is not due to showering every other day
TheBlackArt · 15/10/2021 12:12

or after a poo

Confused
EgSk · 15/10/2021 12:17

Nearly every day

DeepaBeesKit · 15/10/2021 12:21

I think we are all a bit too clean and unless you do a physical job or are particularly sweaty/exercise a lot there is no need to shower every day.I would mostly shower every day but sometimes every 2 or 3, depending on my activities. It's not particularly good for your skin to wash excessively.

This. I go in the kids bath water after them for a quick dip about 3/4 days out of 7. I have 2 or 3 showers a week, I was my hair twice a week. My mother would definitely be on at me if I smelled bad, I dont.

I don't go to the gym or have a dog. I dress appropriately for weather & rarely sweat much running errands except in the heat of summer, when I would shower or bathe more.

Those skin oils are good for your skin.its constantly scrubbing them away that makes you over produce more of them

Bathing in someone else's water whether it's your kids or OH is honestly disgusting. How can you possibly wash yourself clean with dirty water? Surely you're not being serious @DeepaBeesKit

Shower every day unless I am unwell

Jinkiesfredlll · 15/10/2021 12:33

Every other day /hair once a week.

rainbowmash · 15/10/2021 12:35

As someone who has only tried a "sink wash" once (out of grim curiosity), I have no idea how people find it easier than hopping in the shower for a minute and drying off. It was a cold, ineffective, awkward mess! And then I had to wash the gross fl*nnel!

Am I missing a trick?

BashfulClam · 15/10/2021 12:44

This topic again? Really, we have this question so often it’s ridiculous.

groundhogdaycherry · 15/10/2021 13:02

Every other day unless I'm actually going out then I will shower. If I am just in the house alone then I don't see the need sometimes

AnnieSnap · 15/10/2021 13:09

@MrsArchchancellorRidcully could you say a bit more about Nuud? I googled it, but only found a chain of bars 😮

AnnieSnap · 15/10/2021 13:18

@NotMyCat

Every day or sometimes every other I do a full shower though - back brush, shower puff, wash with soap and then shower gel, armpits with hibiscrub, everything washed including legs, body scrub, moisturiser...
Hibiscrub? Really? What on earth do you think you have become contaminated with? 😮

Maybe having a disability helps understand how it's easier
LaBellina · 15/10/2021 13:19

Twice a day. Use a wash cloth for face and body otherwise I don’t feel clean!

HelpMeWithMyHip · 15/10/2021 13:20

@Mr85

Every morning for me but I also jump in again before sex or after a poo.

Sponge on arse, hands for everything else.

Spontaneous!

And you must be regular as clockwork

NotMyCat · 15/10/2021 13:20

@AnnieSnap medical condition, I need to use hibiscrub on affected areas which is my armpits

plinkplinkfizzer · 15/10/2021 13:22

I have only done 'sink washes ' when been ill in Hospital or just discharged from hospital .I use two cloths .

CoastalWave · 15/10/2021 13:23

Literally takes 3 mins to hop in the shower and wash my bits!

Quicker than using a flannel and a lot nicer!

Daily - quite often twice daily.

It's pretty disgusting how infrequently some people actually wash their foo foo!

You have a shower every time you have a bowel movement? Don't you have toilet paper?
sqirrelfriends · 15/10/2021 13:40

Once or twice a day but really quickly.

I don't pay much attention to my legs unless in exfoliating or shaving.

yesterdayisinthepast · 15/10/2021 13:40

@episcomama dry tissue paper is not enough to ensure your bum is as clean as possible after doing a poo. Wet wipes are better but even then it's still not as thorough as actual water. It's not unheard of that some people have showers after they poo to clean themselves properly.

All of my Muslim friends (and some non Muslim tbh) have those bidet sprays in their toilet to make sure they have the best hygiene. It should really become the norm in the Western world but doubt it will
