To think we should be protesting

For affordable childcare.

Why are we letting the government get away with the absolute joke that is childcare in the U.K.

Over 2k per month to send 2 kids to nursery seems like madness! There should absolutely be reform to this crazy state that we’re in. Surely a huge majority of the voting population have children/have grandchildren or plan to have children, but this issue is rarely talked about at election time!

So in the future if I need help I have zero expectation of getting any help so im make damn sure I am never in that situation.

What do you plan to do if you're diagnosed with a long-term health condition?

OwlinaTree · 11/10/2021 22:54

@AntiMaskersAreTwats

Maybe spend a bit of time with them and don’t send them into nursery for such long days every day Confused
Hmm
Pontypandytaxpayer · 11/10/2021 22:55

And actually my £500 would go far since I dont cost the country anything right now. I'm already looking to sign up to private medical care next yr and thats only going to cost me £60 a month gmmm let me see thats still £460 that I put to good use by investing it.

Maybe some maths lessons? Smile

OwlinaTree · 11/10/2021 22:57

Awful comments on here tonight. What happened to supporting each other?

Loveshelly · 11/10/2021 22:57

@Pontypandytaxpayer
Hahahaha

I’d be happy for my taxes to go towards that. Along with the general English writing skills…

Hope you dont get cancer between now and next year ...not sure whether those 440£ go far otherwise!

EasterIssland · 11/10/2021 22:59

btw if you earn 50k you dont pay 500£ tax (and NHS), you pay nearly double. maybe you should check what your taxes are really invested on.. as you dont have children you've loads of time to check that..

EasterIssland · 11/10/2021 23:01

take as you're not planning on having covid neither, you're against the tax increase that is going to hit you next year? why should you pay for those cheeky fuckers that dare to get covid using your taxes...

Dont have covid if you cant afford t!

Well for one im.signing up for private medical care next yr and secondly I'm putting enough savings aside and investing my money that is already providing decent returns to future proof myself as much as possible.

Oh wow like noone else makes typos mistakes. Big deal its £440. Either way fact is you said i cost the country more than I pay in and I dont.
EasterIssland · 11/10/2021 23:30

Why not sign private health care now ? Why wait til next year… anything can happen to you tomorrow !

Pontypandytaxpayer · 11/10/2021 23:41

As its via my company its a once a year offering when the window is open to sign up!

And my health is pretty good generally didnt even get covid so I know ill be fine, thanks.

Lol maybe you need to instead. The biggest percentage of tax goes on welfare which is where child benefits come out of! Something like 25%.

And I never said I earn £50k I said around £50k and I know my paychecks thanks so I know my tax is around £500 with ni being an additional £300 ish. Bringing total to around £800.

Pontypandytaxpayer · 11/10/2021 23:47

I don't know, I'd get someone to see to that massive chip on your shoulder if I were you.

EasterIssland · 11/10/2021 23:51

“And my health is pretty good generally didnt even get covid so I know ill be fine, thanks.

What a stupid thing to say. As if Illnesses would warn you! I just lost a cousin less than half a years thanks to cancer. One day healthy next day buried. Hope you don’t go out the door neither just in case hits you and need medical care. Or you’ve any domestical accident.

Loveshelly · 11/10/2021 23:52

Your maths and English aren’t that fab. OU ?

That’s exactly what I said. That if you earn £50k, pound up pound down then you’d not be paying £500 between taxes and NI. And as you’re so healthy you don’t need the doctors , but normally it’s the NI that pays for the health related things , not the tax. The taxes are for other things.

And? I just quickly type stuff dont bother checking its perfect so there are some mistakes. I'm not here for a maths or writing competition.

I dont ever judge peolle on forums about this either, easy to make typos or just type something up quickly and make a few mistakes

Dreamstate · 12/10/2021 07:29

what I've got clear is that you wont help anyone.. they dont help you now so why should you help the rest? hope you're never in need of help..

ps. I say this as someone that earns more than you and who I'm happy to pay more taxes to help others even if currently I'm making no use of them.

Kolingpursey · 12/10/2021 20:09

Pythonista, why are you on "mums" net arguing mums shouldn't be helped if they earn 50k a year? Do you know anything about how much a child costs in places like London? Do you realise people who will be providing services to you in the future and pay your pension may be those who need subsidised care today? You seem more aligned with a us republican mentality. A labour mp calculated subsidies for childcare (not free, subsidies, depending on income) it was around £5 per month. Are you really so against this?

If you are going to single me out, read my previous posts.

Also I presume you will be addressing each individual poster who disagrees with you, or will you be confining your attention to me? It's flattering of course but I'm sure there are plenty of other people who could use your words of wisdom Grin

ellyeth · 14/10/2021 18:21

Dreamstate Your post if rather nasty and aggressive. It suggests that people who think childcare should be, if not free, then reason ably priced are only paying lip service to the idea but would not, in practice, support such a policy.

We do not have a system whereby people decide what they want to donate money to. If we did, then no doubt so more "cosy" charities would do very well, while other charities would suffer. We have a taxation system and how the money is spent is a matter of priorities. You might choose to spend a lot of money on warfare, vanity projects, space travel, etc., etc., or you might choose to spend it on making sure that people have access to health care, a good education, first class infant care, etc, etc. Some people would be quite happy to pay more tax if the latter were the main priorities.

Missatkins · 14/10/2021 18:37

@Shoxfordian

Can there also be a Chanel handbag subsidy? I would like one but can’t afford it so I don’t have one
Or a Christian louboutin subsidy? I'd love some but can't afford sadly 😏
