Our government doesn't know what misogyny is.

Well - Dominic Raab definitely doesn't. Speaking to the BBC, he said "insults and misogyny is absolutely wrong whether it's a man against a woman or a woman against a man".

Who are these people we've put in charge of our country?

And how is there any hope of things improving for women with this lot at the helm?

What is point of new law when laws already here to stop women being murdered not followed. Am victim of domestic violence. Councils and other places like social services break law and nothing stops them. Domestic abuse help is postcode lottery. Some amazing kind women working so hard but also some bad ones who don't care. Is law that councils help house victims of domestic violence but they break law and get away with it cos no-one wants to know. Is why women injured and murdered. Is why women go back to abusers after refuges. Is why women don't leave. Police who cares. Not police main reason why so many murders. What can police do even if good ones. They can't give you safe place to live.

They talk about violence against women. All these places. Government. Councils. Organisations. Say they care want to tackle it. Is all fake lies. Try reality of approaching places for help. Is hell. Pushes you to suicide as much as an abuser does. Is cruel way you get treated. Like you piece of shit. Been nearly killed but worse abuse is from the official places meant to help. Had more injury since first tried to get help but worse than physical injury is psychological damage. They don't really care about violence against women.

I think it's because-

Hate crime laws already exist
And
Women has always been a glaring and telling omission

So I think aim is to - give reason to be discussed, in the papers, on the agenda etc as that all means it raises profile of VAWG and that topic and all the problems around VAWG is more... Visible? And having it as a hate crime would signal none of it is way less important than racism homophobia etc.

The other hate crime laws are neutral - hate due to race. Not particular races.

If written in as sex (male female) my worry would be men (males) would use it in all sorts of imaginative ways for their own ends. My personal concern.

I do not believe that writing in misogny can actually be done as so many of the public hate the word/ concept.

I don't think hate crime laws are much good tbh. That's another thread.

Yes the fact is we have laws for rape DV harrassment etc. And you're right. The imperative thing is to fix the problems all through the justice system when it comes to actually make them any use.
