Kate Middleton is a role model for me?

I like the way she looks, so pretty and stylish but classic and simple at the same time.

Slim but toned and athletic figure, meanwhile I could lose a few kg.

Her personality seems refined and elegant, you will never catch her sharing controversial opinions or offending views.

She seems to be a supportive wife and mother

Seems overall to live such an elegant life.

AIBU? To want to be more like Kate and see her as a role model?

@VladmirsPoutine

For whatever reason I always thought Edward preferred his bread buttered on the other side, preferred batting from the opposition. But given we saw the sheer shit storm that having a little bit of Blackness in the modern day royal family caused I can't imagine the shit storm if Edward did indeed prefer a bit of salted butter.
What an unnecessary and nastily written comment. He seems to be in a settled, stable relationship. What does it matter what his sexual preferences were before his marriage?

Have I been transported back in time?
Bread buttered on the other side, batting for the opposition, preferring salted butter?HmmHmmHmm

It's not Heathrow airport, you don't have to announce your departure.

That’s the the third time someone’s made that “joke” on this thread. It wasn’t funny the first time.

What on earth? I knew we still, sadly, had homophobes in 2021 but I had no idea any of them were 500 years old.

Edward was widely rumoured to be gay in his younger years.
I am surprised that anyone thinks marriage to a woman would mean a man can't be gay.
There were also rumours about another male Royal being caught in a sexual act with a man, it was in the newspapers at the time. Widely thought to be Charles.

The having a little bit of Blackness comment is equally vile and distasteful. It has no place on this or any other forum - I'm amazed that @VladmirsPoutine as a regular poster has such a poor social filter, but the words mark out the person behind the username,

Vile and distasteful to whom?
DrSbaitso · 06/10/2021 12:30

The issue isn't whether there are rumours about Edward's sexuality, it's the unbelievably offensive language used to discuss it...and the reference to Meghan's heritage was pretty awful too.

julieca · 06/10/2021 12:31

Yes agreed the language was offensive.

Cadent · 06/10/2021 12:32

I'd say the persecution of Megan by the the media and MNers is more offensive, tbh.

Blossomtoes · 06/10/2021 12:38

Edward is kept away from the public as much as possible

Quite obviously he’s not or he wouldn’t carry out 300 engagements in a normal year. We all know how anti royalist you and Roussette are @StoneofDestiny, you don’t have to make stuff up to prove it.

julieca · 06/10/2021 12:40

@Blossomtoes look at the type of engagements he carries out. Visiting a shooting range, attending a Duchy meeting, there are not engagements where he is really exposed to the public.

Blossomtoes · 06/10/2021 12:44

So you’re basing a completely untrue generalisation on a sample of one week’s engagements in an atypical year? Let’s hope research doesn’t feature too strongly in your job description.

Roussette · 06/10/2021 12:46

Blossom
What?
I haven't even commented on Edward so I'd be obliged if you didn't talk about me like you just have.

I want big change with the RF, yes.
And I know how much that annoys you Hmm

Roussette · 06/10/2021 12:48

I did say yes he SHOULD be doing far more than 300 'engagements' a year, of course he should
I have however not commented on his sexuality

Blossomtoes · 06/10/2021 12:50

It doesn’t annoy me at all @Roussette. You’re absolutely entitled to your opinion. It annoys me when people make stuff up and present it as fact. I only mentioned your name, ffs!

pianolessons1 · 06/10/2021 12:50

She's used her expensive education to go about catching a prince and having a role which basically involves producing an heir and a spare. Someone had to do it so good for her if she likes that sort of thing, but it's not a role model.

Roussette · 06/10/2021 12:54

Blossom I was confused as to why when I hadn't posted on here since yesterday 😂
And not sure if you mean I'm making stuff up?!

Blossomtoes · 06/10/2021 13:03

No, I wasn’t implying that - I don’t think you do that.
RudestLittleMadam · 06/10/2021 13:09

She has to seem like a good mother and wife, not voice any strong opinions publicly and show up to every occasion looking absolutely perfect. That’s basically her job as the wife to a future king.

I have nothing against her and I’m sure she is a very nice mum and wife but she is basically a clothes horse with shiny hair. It’s not a massive achievement.

Roussette · 06/10/2021 13:10

Cheers Blossom 👍🙂

DrSbaitso · 06/10/2021 13:25

Given her position, and that single handedly dismantling the monarchy by herself isn't really an option, what SHOULD she be doing?

julieca · 06/10/2021 13:38

@DrSbaitso Nobody is saying what she should be doing. But we are not accepting she is a role model.

DrSbaitso · 06/10/2021 13:42

He had to marry someone. What would people like that person to do?

julieca · 06/10/2021 13:44

Stop feeding us a bullshit fairy tale marriage story that treats us as if we are stupid.
