Kate Middleton is a role model for me?

I like the way she looks, so pretty and stylish but classic and simple at the same time.

Slim but toned and athletic figure, meanwhile I could lose a few kg.

Her personality seems refined and elegant, you will never catch her sharing controversial opinions or offending views.

She seems to be a supportive wife and mother

Seems overall to live such an elegant life.

AIBU? To want to be more like Kate and see her as a role model?

He did 300 engagements in 2019

Yes, he did many engagements

Iamthewombat · 05/10/2021 20:05

The Prince Edward fan club are out in force!

julieca · 05/10/2021 20:10

And did anyone really notice?

mustlovegin · 05/10/2021 20:15

And did anyone really notice?

Of course, otherwise they wouldn't have 'booked' him

TertiusLydgate · 05/10/2021 20:20

Prince Edward did my son's DofE award ceremony. He was extraordinarily bad at it.

julieca · 05/10/2021 20:28

Just looked on his official page and his last visit was on the 30th of September when he visited some firing ranges.
On the 29th of September, he attended a Dinner and Prize Giving for International Golf for Youth.
On the 28th of September, he attended a Parade at Royal Air Force Waddington, Lincoln, and was later opened the Headquarters of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.
On the 27th of September, he participated in the Champions Challenge.
On the 24th in the morning, he attended the Owners Form.

I mean is this really vital work that we should be paying vast sums of money for?

Excuse me, you can see he attended a parade AND a dinner for golfers. He is ‘toiling away’ and is clearly a role model to everyone. And he didn’t even need to ‘bag himself’ a prince, he had the good sense and hard work ethic to be born one.

Wish I could eat a dinner someone else had cooked and call it work

Me too

I've done it, and do it, but I'm not a royal.

The Court Circular is a bit of an eye-opener. Not least it shows how little William does.
On the 30th of September a telephone call.
28th September he attended a Trustees meeting at the Naval and , Military Club
24th September he attended a meeting via video link
23rd of September he attended a Duchy of Cornwall meeting.
16th September he held a meeting for the Earthshot prize.

Bloody hell what a hard worker!

Roussette · 05/10/2021 21:16

The court circular is something they have to do to satisfy us.

Funnily enough I was talking about filling in time with one of the DCs today. Marketing career and she's billed for work, and has to fill out a timesheet to satisfy this massive American company she works for, even on a quiet day when there's no billable work she has to account for every minute. Like everyone else she just makes up something just like William lol

julieca · 05/10/2021 21:20

@rousette So you are saying the RF makeup what is in the court circular and do even less than the engagements on there?

Roussette · 05/10/2021 21:22

' hope not!

But making one telephone call in a day is surely just filler to put something in on a day surely?! To look ok?

julieca · 05/10/2021 21:23

Yes I agree it is filler. Which means William does very little work.

Roussette · 05/10/2021 21:26

One telephone call one day, and one video call 2 days later or whatever is pathetic

StoneofDestiny · 05/10/2021 21:47

Even more so when someone else does the dialling and makes sure they are on the line before you even go to the phone. Yes, utterly pathetic.

StoneofDestiny · 05/10/2021 21:52

As I was when I suggested that dear old Prince Edward had not been seein in public since flouncing from Alton Towers in 1987, after It’s a Royal Knockout, when the press didn’t tell him that he was fabulous

Edward is kept away from the public as much as possible. He shares Andrew's trait of thinking he should be automatically lauded just for standing still! Sophie has been kept safely tucked to the queens skirts to prevent her trying to sell off Royal access as she did before. Now she gets praised for her closeness to the Queen! Not a job!

VladmirsPoutine · 05/10/2021 22:06

For whatever reason I always thought Edward preferred his bread buttered on the other side, preferred batting from the opposition. But given we saw the sheer shit storm that having a little bit of Blackness in the modern day royal family caused I can't imagine the shit storm if Edward did indeed prefer a bit of salted butter.

TheKeatingFive · 05/10/2021 22:09

This is not a minority POV

Marmite27 · 05/10/2021 22:10

Having taken two small children to a funeral recently, I must admit I channelled Kate at certain moments to help me keep my cool.

mustlovegin · 05/10/2021 22:11

So much bitterness in some posts

StoneofDestiny · 05/10/2021 22:19

When any royal drops off the scene, absolutely nothing changes. When the Queen Mother, Margaret and Diana died - everything continued as normal ie hospitals got opened, ribbons cut, charities had figureheads. Likewise when Philip died.
When Andrew was put 'in confinement' at his mums palaces, nothing changed. Nothing has not got done. Likewise with Edward, tucked away from prying eyes, nothing changes. Harry and Meghan left the scene, nothing changed at all.
William and Kate - hiding away unemployed - nothing changes. They pop out now and again to grab a headline, meet a sports star
It is nothing short of scandalous to believe their vacuous existence at taxpayers expense provides any necessary purpose at all.

madisonbridges · 05/10/2021 22:26

@Morgan12

Nah she's done bugger all really. I'd have much more respect for her if she told her husband to fuck off instead of putting up with his cheating.

She isn't a role model at all actually. Not in the slightest.

You don't know he cheated. You're just gossiping.

Is this a very tasteless insinuation that Prince Edward is homosexual? If so, it makes you a nasty homophobe, from the 18th century.
