Yesterday bloke in checkout queue behind me had 8 sliced loaves and a tray of dog food tins.
And 3 bottles of orange squash

The sandwiches at his kid's party are going to be dreadful

I’m with @LavenderAskew, we go through an INSANE amount of milk. DCs and DSCs are here half the week, so appears to be mostly DH. I’d say we go through 4 pints a day easily on average. I’d say it would be close to 35 pints a week when they were homeschooling.
Having said that my dad and step mum go through 20 pints a week between the two of them, I assume they’re bathing in it.

That's an amazing amount of milk! You would be better off just buying the cow 😂

We buy 2 pints a week. DH only has black tea and coffee. I have fruit tea and water and gin and the teens might have cereal every so often but not every day. I don't even know why we buy it tbh...

In the supermarket just to get parsley and then saw the boxes of cat food sachets on special. At the cash desk I piled up five boxes of cat food and my parsley. Waiting for the person in front of me to back their shopping. Woman behind says, 'Have you got a cat?'. I turned, to her and said 'No, I'm having a dinner party. Heat it up sprinkle the parsley on top and they can't tell the difference'. Woman on the till laughs, but woman behind me says just stares at me. She then gathers up her items and moves to next but one till.

MalleytheAlleyCat · 03/10/2021 16:51

@cricketmum84 I’m not entirely sure where it goes as 2 of them don’t eat cereal and the other one eats it dry (baallk 😂)
DH went to the garage on his way home this morning, bought 4 pints and it’s pretty much gone. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I just love this!!

I quite like the idea that another person can buy a trolley full of food to feed their family and it contains totally different items than my trolley

Wroxie · 03/10/2021 20:08

I can smell people who have lots of dairy (it's sort of a piggy, sweet and sour smell- it's totally unmistakeable) and I can't imagine the smell of a family that goes through 35 pints in a week. I'd probably be able to smell it through the walls if they lived next door 😂

TheOnlyMrsM · 04/10/2021 12:45

Are you Hannibal Lecter, pp?

'You use Evyan skin cream. And sometimes you wear L'Air du Temps. But not today'.

'You drink organic semi-skimmed milk. And sometimes you eat a Dairylea Triangle. But not today'.

I used to work in a supermarket and always wanted to work on the 9 items or fewer checkout because the time passed so quickly on there. I used to love Sunday mornings when so many people came through with a basket of breakfast products, a single toothbrush and a box of condoms - they had had an unexpected guest the night before and were extending the funday into Sunday.

It's common among certain members of the BAME community to believe than non-BAMEs smell of milk. It's not something that is widely known among non-BAMEs.

KittenKong · 04/10/2021 13:50

You smell like a pig - and I mean that in the nicest possible way...”

So all babies smell like piggies?

KittenKong · 04/10/2021 13:51

And ‘non BAME’ people? Have you seen how much yoghurt people eat in the ME?

QuestionEverythingBaby · 04/10/2021 19:10

Is this true? But the smell is of sweet and sour pig? 😳🤣

MalleytheAlleyCat · 04/10/2021 19:52

I don’t actually drink it, but I can’t say I’ve ever noticed the rest of my household smells of off yogurt 😂

KittenKong · 04/10/2021 20:35

My family in the ME are rather fragrant actually. What an odd (and racist) thing to say!

Fizbosshoes · 04/10/2021 20:56

I'm curious ...at what point does smelling like a pig Confused kick in...? Our family (4 people) consume about 10 pints of milk, would we smell faintly of sweet and sour pig....or just sweet...or just sour...?

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 04/10/2021 21:00

I once bought at Asda 2 bottles of hot sauce, a pack of toilet roll and some paracetamol Grin.

My Aldi shop today was 3 boxes of quality Street, 3 boxes of Xmas biscuits, 3 bottles of Bailey's and 3 boxes of shortbread. I'm building 3 hampers for Xmas for grandparents.

That's about 16/17 litres - so would be what I have in my trolly with my in laws and my family's milk.

Best part is I don't drink milk, can't tolerate it!!

GiantCrab · 04/10/2021 21:12

I used to run a picking operation for a major retailer. The best bit about the job was figuring out the 'story' behind the picks. Brexit prepping was definitely a thing. Hand sanitizer wa scrapyard for a while for obvious reasons. We used to discuss the orders over the headsets as we were picking.
The best was condoms and a pregnancy test. You either need one or the other, not both Grin

LukeEvansWife · 04/10/2021 21:23

The judgement on here! Nice to know you have so little to think about that you develop a fascination for what people buy. It's actually quite creepy that you remember it as well

Or it could have been for two separate people

Or a pregnancy scare which if negative would mean condoms going forward

Rather extreme reaction for something that's lighthearted and fun!
