It's two, right?

Why have I spent my Friday morning reading 5 pages of people I do not know discuss how many kidneys they have Grin

I assume I have 2 but I've never counted.

Toomanyradishes · 01/10/2021 10:14

Two although i have a congenital abnormality which has a higher possibility of only having 1 kidney, but they did a scan and both are there

AdaColeman · 01/10/2021 10:19

Several, most of them chopped up in a pie in the fridge! 🥧 🥧 🥧 🥧

FazedNotPhased · 01/10/2021 10:31

If you donate two, one grows back, right?

Jayd291 · 10/03/2024 20:20

I have 3 apparently!! Found out on a ultrasound the other day

welshmum3 · 10/03/2024 21:46

I have two. Neither of which work. I'm waiting for a transplant. Dialysis will only keep me alive for so long.
If anyone out there fancies donating one of theirs, live transplant is a thing. All your costs are covered ( transport, loss of wages during the recovery period etc).

KidneyWarrior · 10/03/2024 22:07
  1. I have a transplanted one plus 2 native. Most people are born with 2 and occasionally 1 as an anomaly :)

Fingers crossed you have a transplant soon. X

Two, but apparently in the wrong place. 🤷‍♀️

VeniVidiWeeWee · 10/03/2024 22:35

Are we including the souvenirs I keep in the freezer?

I really hope HQ get onto this thread and consider it for deletion.

I don’t think @ImaBraveNhsHero is ever going to tell us why they posted it

A family friends son works at a hospital. In some training they used him as a guinea pig when demonstrating a new scanner.
Consultant called him in the following day and told him the scan had picked up he only had 1 kidney and wad he aware - No.

Told him he needed to take good care of it.
As a young baby/toddler he was quite sickly and his DM now wonders if that was the possible reason.

Have you reported it? They don't read every thread. And which of the mumsnet guidelines do you think it breaks?

FOJN · 11/03/2024 07:32

Zombie

This thread is from October 2021.

BobbyBiscuits · 11/03/2024 07:49

I know a lady with 4! Apparently they put new ones in but didn't take the old ones out! My Mum has one. She had the other removed aged 2 from cancer.

So not everyone has 2. People can live healthily with one. Hence kidney donation.
