Have you been to a large event and escaped covid?

Thinking parties, theatre, concerts, large work meetings etc.

OP posts:

Is it just general anxiety OP or is there a certain reason for it, are you clinically vulnerable? If not, there comes a time to take a deep breath and get on with things. Especially if you've been vaccinated. I know it's easier said than done, but once you take the first steps, it'll seem easier.

I did get covid from an event (I think), right at the beginning of the pandemic, just before the first lockdown. But nobody knew much about it then and no precautions were being taken etc. It has helped actually, to make me much less anxious during the last couple of years. Better the devil you know and all that.

Yes! About a month ago I was in Pop World in Liverpool with 1000 other people and didn't get it.

Redhotchilis · 01/10/2021 20:04

A big festival over summer with 1000s of others, 7 gigs with DCs insisting on being in the mosh pit each time, and weekly sporting events seated indoors with 5000 other spectators chantong and cheering.

None of us have been ill

Redhotchilis · 01/10/2021 20:04

*chanting obviously 🙄

tedsletterofthelaw · 01/10/2021 20:11

Yep loads.

Caught covid in the middle of lockdown in January after having been nowhere.

julieca · 01/10/2021 20:24

@Somethingsnappy I disagree. It is a risk going to large events. So whether people do depends on both their own personal risk, and their attitude to risk. And this is the same in normal life as well. Some people happily go skydiving and others would never take that risk. It is up to individuals.

SarahBellam · 01/10/2021 20:33

A festival - 6 of us went. All tested negative on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Two of the group tested positive on the Monday.

I agree, but I wasn't really referring to going to large events. I was focused on the OP's anxiety and asked her about it. By 'getting on with things', I meant trying to work on the anxiety and getting back to normal life to some extent.

Public transport every day, child in nursery, teacher husband, pubs, restaurants, large work meetings, cinema and theatre. None of us have had it, to our knowledge.

Mummyme87 · 01/10/2021 20:45

I got married in august, there was 100 of us (including a lot of HCP) plus all the staff, no one got covid. And work (maternity unit) had a summer ball a month ago and again, no one got covid

PumpkinPie2016 · 01/10/2021 20:46

I teach in a large secondary school and have throughout the pandemic.

Been in pubs/restaurants/museums/attractions both at home and on holiday.

Kids party recently.

Just before the first lockdown, my Nan was in hospital for two weeks so I was visiting every day while covid patients were in the hospital.

Never, to my knowledge, had covid. I may, of course, have had it asymptomatically.

Double vaccinated.
Major London sporting events over the summer.
Lots of London buses/tube.

Summer, child at summer activity sat talking to a mum everyday. Then we’d go for lunch with the kids and then they’d play. She didn’t come one day. Later emerged she had caught covid - she wasn’t vaccinated. I do believe the vaccines are making the difference.

LimitIsUp · 01/10/2021 23:24

Yes, theatre, cinema, comedy club and premiership football stadium

Nowhereelsetogo90 · 02/10/2021 00:29

Couple of weddings, theatre once, one hour in a nightclub (quickly realised I’m too old Grin) and many, many kids activities, soft play, theme park, etc.

Caught it four weeks ago at work!

flumposie · 02/10/2021 00:30

School, theatre, London tourist attractions.
