Wimbledon, a football match, the theatre, 5 weddings and flights abroad and back.

AFuturisticalSound · 01/10/2021 09:40

What a strange question
I am millions of others are going out to events as normal every day

Are you aware OP of how covid works and how prevalent it is in the population?

ItsJustASimpleLine · 01/10/2021 09:42

I spent 6 days in a row at 3 different theme parks, still wore a mask indoors and used hand gel. We also stayed in a hotel and ate out over the holiday. Out of a group of 4 adults and 4 kids no one caught Covid.

I think there's a lot more safety outdoors then most people realise.

lemondrops99 · 01/10/2021 09:47

Yes of course. Be careful of course, but there's no need to avoid things you want to do. I work in a school and I've been around 100s of people everyday since last June (apart from the Feb lockdown) I've not knowingly had it. I wear a mask on the tube and I'm very diligent about sanitising door handles and work space / hand washing but that's about it.

Etinox · 01/10/2021 09:58

@Suzi888

Yes, but no idea if I’ve escaped Covid. Not everyone has symptoms, so unless you test regularly you’d never know.
This! I’m shocked of the number of posts saying they’ve not had it, the whole point of asymptomatic is that you don’t know. Regardless of what you’re doing or even if you have regular tests, you don’t know whether you’ve had it or passed it on. I’ve been on numerous trains and buses, theatre and football, daily into the office for work, all masked. I’ve done twice weekly lft’s and haven’t had covid afaik
waterrat · 01/10/2021 10:27

I've travelled to Europe which included 5 hours of packed queuing at Heathrow coming back. Been to festivals crowded pubs and many crowded tubes and trains. Key worker and kids were in school whole time. None of us in family ever got covid . Husband key worker and close contact of people who came down with covid several times. Never got it himself.

waterrat · 01/10/2021 10:28

Moat infectious covid cases are more likely pre symptomatic rather than asymptomatic

moofolk · 01/10/2021 11:09

I went to a very large outdoor gig. At the front, in very close contact with many sweaty people.

Didn't even get pinged.

GabriellaMontez · 01/10/2021 11:12

Many, many busy work situations and public transport and didn't catch it. But got it caring for poorly teen.

Yes, of course, but that doesn't stop my anxiety.

And quite frankly, just to come on this thread to tell me it's a strange question is strange. Especially as everyone else has answered without saying it's strange. Maybe you're the odd one.

owlbethere · 01/10/2021 16:08

I went to see a gig in Manchester, relatively small about 3500 people. No covid here. Did LFTs every other day for a week after.

MumYourBabyGrewUpToBeACowboy · 01/10/2021 16:09

Several trips to the theatre and an international flight via Heathrow. I am meticulous with my mask though, and sanitizer, as I’m fully vaxxed but require a booster next month.

afrikat · 01/10/2021 16:10

I went to an awards event in London. Travelled there and back by train. C. 1000 people in a big function room for 6 hours. You had to show evidence of being double jabbed to be allowed in. I didn't get ill, don't know anyone else there who did

goawayalcg · 01/10/2021 16:10

A couple of festivals (granted, they were mostly outside), plane travel a couple of times, a hideous work event in a stuffy old pub ... No Covid as far as I know.

RainbowBriteUk · 01/10/2021 16:11

@BananaPB

Of course they have. 😂
Read @Sugarplumfairy65 's post and then put the laughing emoji. Seriously, there's no need to be a twat.

So sorry for your loss @sugarplum x

Went to a 17k capacity festival and didn’t catch. Did catch it after a quiet week of not doing much, no idea where from. No worse than a cold,

GreatPotato · 01/10/2021 16:12

I've been to the theatre in London twice (so travelled by tube), I've been to a number of football matches and I was on an absolutely packed train with football supporters.

I work in school.

I didn't catch Covid but I did catch something horrible that knocked me out for 2 weeks, but that was always the way.

I did have Covid in Dec when I was being meticulous, seeing no one and WFH. Keyworker DS brought it home.

SpiesRUs · 01/10/2021 16:14

Work in a school so surrounded by loads of kids every day. Even in lockdown we had over 150 kids in school.

We have had loads of cases.

I had the job of 'runner' when we were doing testing in school, so fetching kids out of class for testing and then escorting them back and then pulling those who were positive out to send home, so was around lots of positive cases and haven't caught it - I am constantly surprised that my LFT comes back negative.

esloquehay · 01/10/2021 16:15

Nope. I caught CoVid and died. 💀🙄

Kite22 · 01/10/2021 16:20

No, I'm with @AFuturisticalSound.
Logically, statistically, etc, is different from how anxious a lot of people feel.

However, like so many others, I have been to loads of big events and not, as far as I am aware, had COVID19. I take LFTs and I took a PCR when I had a horrible cold in August. I've not had symptoms and - as far as any of us can tell - I'm not had COVID without symptoms.

isseys4xmastinselcats · 01/10/2021 16:23

yes a motorbike rally in July but you had to take proof you had both jabs or take a test at the gates before they would let you in

FWBNC · 01/10/2021 16:24

@Bontanics

3 festivals, 8 gigs and a wedding.
There must be a film in that?!
changingstages · 01/10/2021 16:33

I've been to the theatre twice (kept mask on throughout but for one visit almost nobody was wearing one, the other was a bit better).

Am in London most days on increasingly busy tubes/trains/buses. Commuting yesterday (I have a looooong commute, 2.5 hours door to door) felt very much back to pre-pandemic levels of busy.

DSS has it at the moment though and got it - we think, obviously don't know for sure - from a night out in London. He does also work in a large London office but isn't in there that much at the moment.

DH and I are negative (we got PCR tests yesterday as DSS got his positive test back that morning) and so is DD but DD is also very unwell. Could, of course, be a cold, as everyone seems to have one, but her symptoms are very Covid-y so I'm not totally sure we haven't done the PCR test a little early.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 01/10/2021 16:34

I regularly go to the theatre, busy pubs, restaurants, cinema, indoor activities with DS, use public transport. I did not catch Covid at any of them.

Ended up catching it at work, I work in a team of just 5.
