This anti Vax bollox was sent round to all parents of my child's school today. See photo.

I am struggling to understand why and how this happened! They have sent round a new email to say ignore the previous. But really poor show from the school 🤦

@EmRata95

Which parts specifically are lies though? Apart from the obvious it's not NHS?

Can anyone tell me

I'm a NIGERIAN PRINCE and I need your help.

If you send me £25,000 to help me unlock a bank account I will reimburse you £1 billion pounds.

Hope to hear from you soon because you sound really gullible nice.

People with genuine good faith intentions don't need to lie about who they are.

Hahaha! Like this government and all the lies they've told? Genuine people like that?

noblegiraffe · 27/09/2021 18:43

It is entirely possible to think that Boris Johnson and his cabinet are crooks and liars, and still not be interested in what a bunch of cranks posing as the NHS have to say.

GiantCrab · 27/09/2021 18:44

@knittingaddict

So more than one school is receiving this and more than one is passing it on?
Yes. See my screenshot above. The school says many schools have fallen for it.
toocold54 · 27/09/2021 18:48

That’s terrible!!

I assume it’s from what looks like a reputable source so they automatically send it out like all the guidelines that we’ve received regularly over the past few months.
I bet they’ll be double checking everything from now on!!

MrsWombat · 27/09/2021 18:50

Is this from a primary or secondary school? Primary school kids aren't even having the vaccine.

I'm a primary school admin and I am really surprised this has been sent out. In my school SLT have to approve every email and text sent out. Communication from the (flu) vaccine team comes from a specific NHS email and all the consent forms are done online this year.

The only possble way this could have accidentally come from my school is if it had come via another official source such as the local education team who often send out stuff from public health, and not double checked. (Not on my watch though)

NumberTheory · 27/09/2021 18:52

@LittleMissMe99

Is there anything that's factually incorrect in the email? To make an informed decision, especially one concerning your child....you need ALL the information
Part 9 - the bit about crude mortality rates is factually incorrect. Crude mortality rates can't tell you if you're more likely to die from covid or the vaccine.

Also, part 4 is disingenuous, written to imply there have been 1,645 deaths from the vaccine without technically stating that. There have been nowhere near that many and most deaths that are attributable to a covid vaccine were from Astra-Zeneca which is not what is being offered to children.

It's also presented as coming from the NHS which I'm assuming is a lie.

More importantly, though, the information is completely out of context and doesn't provide relevant facts (e.g. the most likely side effects or likelihood of the severe ones, or how long they last), so does not provide the basis for decision making.

@EmRata95 please could you share sources for the statistics so people can read them? You believe in access to information and the ability to make informed decisions, so please share evidence of the research / data / stats in that document.

It would be much appreciated rather than the usual 'do your own research' that people respond with when they in fact haven't done their own.

If you stand by the contents of the fake doc, even if we remove the fact it's fraudulently claiming to be from the NHS and we know it isn't, even if we move that issue to one side - please, share your sources and I'm sure we will all be happy to read them.

If you are sure of your stance, you'll share sources so I look forward to seeing them.

@CottageOnTheHill

I’m sorry, the photo won’t open properly for me. Perhaps I’m missing something is that not a checklist to take to a vaccine appointment ?
Mmmmmm ..........no. It's a spoof and not from the nhs
tiredanddangerous · 27/09/2021 18:58

School administrators have no say in what gets sent out to parents - they send what they're told to send by management. Just for those who are blaming admin staff.

Mydogmylife · 27/09/2021 18:59

@rocklamp

It's just a consent checklist.
It's a spoof !!!
Parker231 · 27/09/2021 19:05

Unfortunately some anti vaxxers are getting clever at manufacturing documents which look as if they are from a genuine organisation.

I hope the police are now involved.

EmRata95 · 27/09/2021 19:06

Where did I say I had seen those statistics elsewhere? I simply asked if anyone could prove which parts were false. So far no one has. So you can't back your claims up that they are lies any more than I can back up they are true?

noblegiraffe · 27/09/2021 19:08

So you can't back them up as true but you think they might be trustworthy even though the group sending them are definitely not trustworthy?

youvegottenminuteslynn · 27/09/2021 19:09

The onus of proof is on those making the claims. You believe the claims - please share what sources have led you to believe them. Thanks.
EmoIsntDead · 27/09/2021 19:10

@MissMaple82

I agree with it all
How embarrassing for you 😬
EmRata95 · 27/09/2021 19:13

Oh, where did I say I believed what it said?

I'm just asking who can provide evidence that the claims are false. So far no one has, they are just getting frothy. Lol.

@NumberTheory did so a little upthread you just don't seem to have read it for some reason?
Gwenhwyfar · 27/09/2021 19:16

@SylvanasWindrunner

YANBU. I imagine the people saying YABU didn't/couldn't read the photo or something or just saw the NHS logo and took it at face value. Which is what they want you to do! Glad they've noticed but I bet some harm has already been done Sad
How do you make it bigger? I can only see the title.
EmRata95 · 27/09/2021 19:17

So apart from the things numbertheory wrote, the rest can't be proved otherwise?

FlemCandango · 27/09/2021 19:18

Lol why are people trying to defend this? It is pretending to be from the NHS it has been designed to fool busy school administrators. I don't care if some of the words are spelt correctly! It should not exist and should not have been sent out! GAH!

Echobelly · 27/09/2021 19:19

My guess is perhaps someone in school office googled 'NHS Vaccine permission' and got this and assumed it was the real thing?

Like when Trump spoke in front of a satirical Presidential seal because someone just downloaded the first thing they saw.

noblegiraffe · 27/09/2021 19:19

Yes, as if any of it being true would validate it somehow?

knittingaddict · 27/09/2021 19:19

@MissMaple82

I agree with it all
It's ALL the negatives set out to scare with NONE of the positives of the vaccine, which outway the negatives.

It's fraudulent and designed to deceive. No credible source needs to do that.

They aren't giving people a choice, they are trying to scare people into not having it. Why?

youvegottenminuteslynn · 27/09/2021 19:20

While happily someone has given you a couple of examples of the errors on that particular document, your request is the same (absence of) logic as someone sending a leaflet out saying 'God exists! He loves you! He is great!' me saying I don't believe in god, then you saying 'prove its not true.' The burden on proof is on those stating a belief as fact ie those who wrote or believe the data in that document. Lol indeed.
