Do they not read what they send out to parents!?!?

This anti Vax bollox was sent round to all parents of my child's school today. See photo.

I am struggling to understand why and how this happened! They have sent round a new email to say ignore the previous. But really poor show from the school 🤦

@MrsTesfaye

Well I agree with it! No way I'm having the vaccine, or my kids. Its good that they are making people aware of the risks, finally.
This didn't age well, did it?

It's incredibly dangerous to fake NHS documents and ask for them to be shared with others.

Surely even if you're anti vax you understand that as a concept?

Incredibly dangerous. Especially in relation to children ffs.

Droite · 27/09/2021 17:14

One clue lies in the fact that they want both parents and children to sign that they've understood it, when it has a lot of stuff that children just wouldn't understand anyway. Let alone be able to evaluate for the propaganda that it is.

knittingaddict · 27/09/2021 17:14

@SheWoreYellow

Someone obv managed to fake a health board email or similar and just said ‘please forward this to all parents’.

I don’t think a school receptionist is necessarily meant to scrutinise the whole thing. They just fell for a scam, poor thing.

They should really educate their staff better and read what they forward to parents. There's really no excuse for that. At best it's an innocent mistake that could cause untold damage to vaccine take up.
Droite · 27/09/2021 17:17

@helpthewhos

A lot of schools don't pay their admin staff much more than minimum wage, even with the popularity of term time only, I'm not sure its a job many people would want at the moment.
Not sure that this is relevant. Admin staff should never have the power to make decisions to send out this sort of document anyway. If it were my child's school I would want to know who it was who fell for this one, because I'm not too sure that that person should be responsible for teaching children anything.
reluctantbrit · 27/09/2021 17:17

We also got this and got a second email recalling it. I normally rate the school's admin department quite high and I hope it is just human error due to stress and constant correspondence from various sources. I didn't read the attachment as I only saw the email on my phone, not laptop.

I feel for the head and the school staff, they are bombarded with abuse from parents about everything covid related, it is unfair to let out personal views about vaccination to the wrong people.

@FlemCandango are you in SE London/Kent border by any chance?

GiantCrab · 27/09/2021 17:17

The caps lock in the second email makes it clear the school are panicking about being duped. I actually feel sorry for the school as they must be under so much pressure and so busy so you can see how soemthing like this slipped through.

Oh wow there are a lot of people hard of thinking on this thread!

It's way too small for me to be able to read, and I can't enlarge the size of it.

I think it says clinician rather than children / child? But yes regardless it's disgraceful propaganda and genuinely dangerous to share anything that is not from the NHS on forms specifically designed to dupe people. Awful.
Tinpotspectator · 27/09/2021 17:20

@noblegiraffe

Schools are also getting legal threats, absolute bollocks about how they are liable for vaccine stuff, and at least one school has reported a death threat.

On top of this there are anti-vaxxers protesting outside schools, harassing kids and teachers and in some cases actually coming onto the school site forcing it into lockdown.

They are absolute fucking shitheads.

I'm also beginning to realise they are often a nasty bunch, rather than just fearful or ill informed. Reminds me of the Trump mob.
GladAllOver · 27/09/2021 17:21

Well it may be a fake but it soon fooled someone on page 1 who wanted to believe it.

Scary isn't it? Confirmation bias on a dangerous scale.

Hi I am a bit further north. At the moment I don't particularly rate the school and communication is generally fairly poor. So I am not really surprised they fell for it, disappointed though. My children are very pro Vax so they are concerned more of their respective classmates will drop out of Vax programme now. The school will now have to use valuable time to address the issues caused, it is not good enough but I don't think anyone should be sacked.

We’ve had anti vaxxers phoning up where I work and being vile.
The one I spoke to doesn’t even have kids in a school !
I put the phone down in the end, but person didn’t omit their number so I’ve got their land line number and it’s been passed to the police 🤣🤣

Nottheduchess · 27/09/2021 17:31

Makes me laugh. “The makers of the Covid vaccine are exempt from liability” of course they are, all pharmaceutical companies are exempt or nobody would ever make pharmaceuticals!!

WoodchipNightmares · 27/09/2021 17:34

This reminds me of the time, when I was a teenager in the 00s, that my school invited a local organisation in to give a drug awareness talk.

Unfortunately, it was Narconon, who on closer inspection are Scientologists espousing non-scientific and often dangerous theories on addiction
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purification_Rundown

The school didn't cotton on even after they'd listened to the claptrap - it was only because I got suspicious, googled the organisation after school and my parents wrote a stern letter!

The Venn diagram of "Anti-Vaxxers" and "The Perpetually Hard of Thinking" has a particularly well populated overlap...

BluebellsGreenbells · 27/09/2021 17:38

I would be furious to receive this from school. What on earth is wrong with them that they thought that was OK to send out?

So you’ve never been scammed?

You do know ‘school’ is staffed by real people who are busy educating your child and make a human mistake?

Stovetopespresso · 27/09/2021 17:41

that's awful yanabu at all

How bloody rude! No, not hard of thinking and most of us are quite capable of critical thinking and reading, as most PP’s have said the attachment doesn’t open properly!
mama3bears · 27/09/2021 17:44

I got that too then an email saying ignore it and then another email apologising!
Someone's messed up big time at the school!

TheSmallAssassin · 27/09/2021 17:44

@Nottheduchess

Pharmaceutical companies aren't usually exempt from civil liability, nor should they be! Maybe you are too young to remember the thalidomide scandal?
KaycePollard · 27/09/2021 17:47

No way I'm having the vaccine, or my kids

Selfish & ignorant @MrsTesfaye

Parker231 · 27/09/2021 17:48

DH is a GP and they have received antivax material. They’ve also received anonymous phone calls threatening how the GP’s (all have done Covid vaccinations) will stand trial etc.
Thankfully all phone calls are recorded and everything passed onto the police. Anti vaxxers are imo, idiots and have no brain cells (that’s the polite version of what I think of them).
Still amazes me that people can’t understand the huge benefits of the Covid vaccinations.

AwaAnBileYerHeid · 27/09/2021 17:49

The anti vaxx nuts will sink low to spread their lies and propaganda..

StanVic49 · 27/09/2021 17:49

Ah. We’ve received this as well…..
