Is it Jab or Jag?!

FawnFrenchieMum · 27/09/2021 10:19

I see both written and never know which is right?

I always say jab but wondering if I’m wrong?

YANBU - Jab
YABU - Jag

I think jag is a Scots usage.

Clocktopus · 27/09/2021 10:20

It's either depending on where in the UK you are.

GemmaRuby · 27/09/2021 10:20

Depends if you’re Scottish or English I think!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 27/09/2021 10:20

Depends where you live.

Thelnebriati · 27/09/2021 10:20

Its jab

WellLarDeDar · 27/09/2021 10:20

A jab is a vaccine. A jag is a car! :P

MurielSpriggs · 27/09/2021 10:20

Vaccine

Clocktopus · 27/09/2021 10:21

Its jab

Have you informed Scotland?

RestingPandaFace · 27/09/2021 10:21

It’s jab ‘as in jab you with a needle’

Lockdownbear · 27/09/2021 10:21

Jag is definitely Scots use as in a jaggy thistle or nettle.

Clocktopus · 27/09/2021 10:23

I've heard jag used in some parts of Yorkshire and Northumberland too.

FawnFrenchieMum · 27/09/2021 10:24

Ahh interesting re the Scottish being Jag! It’s bothered me for a while! (Yes I know I need to get out more!)

Agree with @WellLarDeDar though re Jag being a car Grin

Depends where you're from. Neither is wrong. Isn't variety amazing? Life's rich tapestry and all that.

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 27/09/2021 10:24

Vaccine.

Jab or Jag just sounds stupid to me.

shouldistop · 27/09/2021 10:25

It's a jag. Because it's jaggy, like a jaggy nettle.

HunkyPunk · 27/09/2021 10:26

As long as no-one says ‘jabs/jags in arms’, I don’t think it matters! Can’t stand that phrase. If the vaccination had had to be given in the bottom, would have loved to hear ‘jabs in arses’ being bandied about as the new catchphrase Grin

Looubylou · 27/09/2021 10:33

Never heard jag used ever. Actually jab annoys me too - what's wrong with vaccine? I don't think jab will be helpful to those who might be a bit nervous.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 27/09/2021 10:36

I'm in Scotland and would say jag - as in "remind me, we need to book the cat in for her jags before the end of the month".

Lockdownbear · 27/09/2021 10:37

what's wrong with vaccine?
It has more syllables than necessary.

Nettles don't vaccinate you, what do they do?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 27/09/2021 10:39

It's a jag. Jabs aren't pointy.

discombobulatedonion · 27/09/2021 10:40

It’s a jab. It infuriates me when I read/hear people saying “jag”. I know, I need to get a life.

Gorl · 27/09/2021 10:42

Jag in Scotland

GemmaRuby · 27/09/2021 10:43

It’s a jab in your particular dialect (and mine actually). Why does it infuriate you that you speak in a different dialect?
RobinPenguins · 27/09/2021 10:44

Jag is Scottish.

It’s jab, as in jabbed with a needle.

Hexagonalblock · 27/09/2021 10:44
