Low waged workers who have worked throughout the pandemic are taking an absolute hammering via UC cuts, council tax rises, the energy crisis and food shortages. What the fuck are these dickheads playing at? Fannying around with Joe Biden who couldn't give a rat's ass what's going on here (and is senile anyway) and passing laws about dognapping while distribution of essential goods grinds to a fucking halt. What are they even doing in that building while everything turns to shit outside of it?

Iggly
There has only been one elected Labour PM in the last forty or so years, and even then he got elected because he was more right wing that the Tory party at the time.
Labour need a coherent plan and need to stick to it
They are not a popular vote
I cannot understand why a viable Liberal Party isn't hoovering up votes and storming to power right now

Council tax, energy and food shortages affect most people not just the low waged. UC is just returning to its original level not being cut, it was a temporary uplift during covid and was always stated as temporary l plenty of people who worked through the pandemic didn’t get it or a temp rise from their employers.

Given the choice between someone like Boris and someone who has a bit of integrity and compassion - well, I wouldn’t mind what their background/social class was

Neither would I, but the difficulty is that few with integrity or compassion even want to go into politics - or if they had it in the first place, they soon find they're expected to trade it for political advantage

And while independent candidates are a good idea in theory, they fail to get elected because so many are still prepared to vote for a turd providing it has the right colour rosette on it

Angela Rayner put up a good show at last week's PMQs, she definitely went up in my opinion by discomfiting Raab. And please send for Andy Burnham. Or let's steal Ian Blackford from the SNP. All of them could chew Boz into pieces and spit out the bits. The HOC isn't a courtroom, court manners not required Sir Keir, its not tea with the Queen time.

To the pp who questioned why Lib Dems not storming to power.

Read their section "Is this democracy?"

(Btw I have no connection to MVM, I just think they explain things very well)

I'm ashamed to say that I voted for the Tories at the last election due to not wanting Jeremy Corbyn et al. in power BUT would never do so again.

The level of incompetence, cronyism, arrogance and plain disrespect for ordinary working (or non-working through no fault of their own) people is absolutely incredible.

I agree that Biden has his own set of serious issues, but that aside, we have a Prime Minister who is a scruffy, ridiculous, lying, cheating fool who clearly demonstrates contempt for those who trusted him.

I live in a former 'Red Wall' area which was taken by the Tories because white van man and Daily Mail readers desperately wanted Brexit, a curb to illegal immigration, and a general improvement in economic welfare, which Boris convincingly promised. His act was bought up here, and in places like Grimsby he was trusted to deliver.

He has sh*t on these people who trusted him, filled his cabinet with idiots, endorsed and encouraged cronyism, presided over the collapse of what was left of the NHS and STILL there are people who think he is a 'funny, nice bloke'.

I don't know what it's going to take for people to wake up and smell the coffee, but I am really missing Screaming Lord Such because his Monster Raving Loony Party would not have let us get into a mess of the current proportions.

@DismantledKing

Maybe Angela Rayner, but I think she is quite divisive.

I’m a member of the Labour Party, and even I wouldn’t vote for a party led by her.

Absolutely. She is a horrible, shouty woman who harks back to stereotypes of women who cannot control themselves and behave irrationally.

I obviously failed to get my point across... You have people voting Labour to try to oust the tories You have people voting Tory to keep Labour out Rather than voting for who you want you have people voting against who they don't want The Tories are too right wing Labour are too left wing The Liberals should be able to Hoover up votes by offering a centrist blend of the best of both parties but are failing to do so
MardyBoudoir · 25/09/2021 16:14

It’s an absolute mess. But most of it is because our PM thinks only of himself. Backed Brexit because he thought it would be good for his career. Fuck business. Fuck the country. As long as Boris is doing okay and gets his mates into the Lords eh.

So very true. Rayner went up in my estimation too. She was on fire, if only she was facing Johnson.
HereticFanjo · 25/09/2021 16:43

All of this.

Porcupineintherough · 25/09/2021 16:46

@Feelslikealot

What can we do about it? There's NO opposition in this country. The working class are too busy keeping their heads above water to sit around protesting.
Dont kid yourself that the Tories dont have strong working class support. The last election showed that they do. Strong WC support for Brexit too. No use bleating now if they dont like what they got.

Whoever followed May as PM would have to have backed Brexit to be honest It was voted in and there was no turning back however shot you and I think it was
ChurchofLatterDayPaints · 25/09/2021 17:16

@Saddenedbyitall My point was that even if the Lib Dems did get increased votes, they're not going to get elected anyway with fptp.

Echobelly · 27/09/2021 12:23

They and their mates are totally insulated from all this crap so they don't care. They just assume everyone else has savings and investments and stable jobs and if they don't it's because they're not trying hard enough.

MardyBoudoir · 27/09/2021 12:53

Saddened I agree that after May there was no going back. I meant that during the referendum, Boris supported Vote Leave, stood in front of the bus etc.

He gave Brexit credibility and I don’t think Leave would have won without his backing. And he did it because it was good for his career.

GiantHaystacks2021 · 27/09/2021 12:56

Stop voting Tory.

Echobelly · 27/09/2021 13:00

Trouble is @GiantHaystacks2021 is that people aren't showing any sign of doing so. Despite everything. It's like they're brainwashed into some idea that rich tories are our natural betters and leaders so you'd better stick with them, even totally against your own interests.

Labour are not helping by being crap, but literally anything would be better than this absolute shower at this stage.

Echobelly · 27/09/2021 13:01

*by 'doing so' I mean 'stopping voting Tory'
