Low waged workers who have worked throughout the pandemic are taking an absolute hammering via UC cuts, council tax rises, the energy crisis and food shortages. What the fuck are these dickheads playing at? Fannying around with Joe Biden who couldn't give a rat's ass what's going on here (and is senile anyway) and passing laws about dognapping while distribution of essential goods grinds to a fucking halt. What are they even doing in that building while everything turns to shit outside of it?

I’m another one who thinks that the government would be carrying on just as they are now, even close to an election.
It’s because they are incompetent.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/09/2021 22:58

If you want change focus on fixing the opposition, or the next election will just be a re-run

Wise words, Dbank, but the concept doesn't go down very well with those on the hard left who think that if they just explain things a bit better people will see the light

So sadly they go right on losing ...

Dbank · 24/09/2021 23:00

@DismantledKing

Labour are failing to get their house in order, the Marxist are still there, Magic Gramps is still there, and to make it worse they are now financially fragile. It's looking very likely they will loose their biggest donor, which will be disastrous. The Unite leader isn't even going to the Labour Party conference!

Corbyn isn’t a Labour MP. Couldn’t be arsed to fact-check the rest of this bollocks.

I didn't say Corbyn is an MP, he still a member of the Labour Party and should have been castigated for the election debacle.
TattySlippers · 24/09/2021 23:00

You have incompetent Tory Boris. We, in Wales, have incompetent Labour Drakeford.

Who do you suggest we vote for next time OP? And why?

DerAlteMann · 24/09/2021 23:25

@Notonthestairs

Yes to Yvette Cooper.
A woman lead the Labour Party! Now there is a radical idea.

To be honest mate I suggest we fuck voting over and take to the streets. I really am that pissed offe. They're fucking us royally and no cunt is doing anything about it.

I am serious.

FWIW I think that having a leader who is representative of the population is a bit of a red herring. Yes, it would be nice, but given the choice between someone like Boris and someone who has a bit of integrity and compassion - well, I wouldn’t mind what their background/social class was

I don’t have the words for how angry and utterly desperate I feel about it atm. The Tories need to be booted out, but a lack of a viable alternative makes that unlikely

ohfourfoxache · 24/09/2021 23:53

@AmericanTie I’m not convinced we’re at that stage yet, but suspect it’s getting close

I’ve had similar thoughts

Twofurrycatsagain · 25/09/2021 00:58

Billy Connolly — 'The desire to be a politician should bar you for life from ever becoming one.”Don't vote. It just encourages them....'
I'm beginning to think Billy had the right idea.
Less flippantly whichever party is in government needs a strong opposition. Keeps them on their toes.

Some fuckers voted for these clowns.
A big chunk of the low-waged fuckers who are taking an absolute hammering via UC cuts, council tax rises, the energy crisis and food shortages voted for these clowns.
Porridgealert · 25/09/2021 01:47

Is UC being cut though? Wasn't it just an extra amount to help get through the pandemic and was always said to be temporary? So now measures around the pandemic have been removed, UC has been restored to how it was before.

These morons are desperate for some socialist type support but not from a socially democratic party. Jingoism, nationalism and the class system always takes priority. Thick as mince.

Susannahmoody · 25/09/2021 02:23

Move abroad. Unless you're a boomer then chances are you're alright

The Tories own report said that cutting the £20 extra a week will push 800,000 people into poverty including 290,000 children. That's not an independent report or government report, their own internally researched report.

It's disgusting. I don't understand how any civilised person could live with themselves voting it through.

It's not as though the money disappears into the ether, people on UC hardly put their money into savings or send it offshore, it gets spent almost immediately and washes around the economy creating growth.

The whole concept of deserving poor or undeserving poor is bunk designed to keep everyone poor.

This obsession that someone who's on jobseekers thats like £40 odd a week is somehow scamming you personally but an employer who makes hundreds of millions of profit not paying a true living wage or siphoning it off to avoid tax is "just how it works" is just backward thinking.

Porridgealert · 25/09/2021 02:30

But it's not a cut. I mean, I'm fine with people saying they want more but it's not a cut because it was only a temporary uplift. Or have I read that wrong?

Billandbob · 25/09/2021 02:33

Yanbu!!! We need a revolution!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 25/09/2021 02:56

Tartan has taken the words out of my mouth or rather my keyboard.

A huge majority of the British Public and I don't doubt many working class people made their choice on 12 December 2019. Ain't no time for whining and boo hooing, now. Things will only change when the majority take their heads out of the Tories stinking arseholes

PurpleSapphire · 25/09/2021 03:17

People on so called legacy benefits didn't get the extra £20 anyway. How can they possibly justify that? They haven't even tried to because they cant, they said that anyone who thought they would be better off on UC could apply for it. Simply a way of taking advantage of the situation to force people onto the new system? I can't see any other reason for it. Yes, because in the middle of a pandemic it's going to be SO easy to change from one benefit to another isn't it..staff off sick, phonelines jammed, delays in dealing with applications, who in their right mind would want to risk it?

sjxoxo · 25/09/2021 04:19

..they are being a Tory government. Of course the low/middle earners are being flogged… it’s Tory policy. Not shocked in the least. I’ll still vote labour any day over Tory even if I think the Labour Party aren’t ideal. x

Sally2791 · 25/09/2021 05:12

I am mystified. I work with intelligent people who seem unaware that it’s all crashing down around us. The current government is a lying cabal of thieves who tell bigger and bigger lies every day, and those who voted for them seem doomed to remain in their thrall. We have no effective opposition, the media is largely complicit.
I think it has to hit rock bottom before things can change.

LolaLouLou · 25/09/2021 05:17

Me neither. Or RLB or the other one.

Labour needs someone in the centre who had charisma.

LolaLouLou · 25/09/2021 05:18

Sorry my quote marks failed... but I wouldn't vote for Angela Raynor either

Royat · 25/09/2021 05:55

They made the law about dognapping because they (and a lot of the electorate) care more about dogs than they do about poor people 😒 and it's a "feel good" piece of legislation that nobody in their right mind is going to object to (in of itself I agree with it, I love my dog!)

Totally agree but please don't get me started on being fucked over "royally" Grin

Mass civil disobedience, strikes and protests.

Rainbowheart1 · 25/09/2021 06:43

I voted for Tory, twice. Not my finest moments but between this and women’s rights going to pot I just couldn’t vote labour, I have two young daughters and would feel like I was doing them wrong.

The options were not great and both were shit, but with all of society falling, there’s more chance the government will fix it. If it was just women falling into the pits of hell, no one would blink twice. So lesser of two evils for me personally.

We need a third party, preferably one with some common sense. I can’t vote Tory again and I won’t vote labour!
