Ridiculous name for baby

My step son and gf have recently called their newborn a really awful pretentious name. I know it’s their choice but neither me nor my husband can bring ourselves to say it in a sentence. Every time we talk about him we say ‘the baby’ or the ‘little one’. We have been very diplomatic and said things like ‘ oh that’s unusual’ but they have started to notice we don’t use his name in conversation and it’s becoming tense.

Any advice on how to move forward?

Oh dear lord I could deal with stormy or storm but stormy water?? Wtff.... Like a double barrelled name??

Is this for real? Wow. Every time this child announced his name, there will be comments. And that can be pretty embarrassing (my name is horrible - not outlandish - but I always hated having to give my name as a child).

Just shorten it to Storm and move on.

Storm is very cool though.

It’s a terrible name. I have met several Storms and they were all girls. I’ve never heard of the name being given to a boy.

It is his name though so you’ll have to start saying it really.

Another example of parents who think of their child as their property and only care what they like, not about how it will affect the poor child throughout their life.

I used to ride a horse called Stormy, not sure what his other names were though.

Honestly, I don't think it is that bad, have met Tarquins, Quentins and Cuthberts which I personally find much worse.

Just caught ups Storm (which is what he’ll be called) isn’t bad.

People once thought that names like Egbert and Hortensia were perfectly normal. Times/tastes change.

If shorted, Storm isn't that bad. I've known two Storm's, one male and one female. Never really made me do a double take or anything. Can you nickname them Storm?

I know a Jesus as well. But it's pronounced "Hay-Soos" He's Spanish

its not worth a family rift and he can change it when he is older . just ask if you can call him storm . that's a cool name
