How would you fix the worlds problems?

I think i have it, I really do.
Everyone is using food banks, right? unemployment is rife. Depression, anxiety, suicide. Obesity. Anti social behaviour and crime rates.

Okay. Are you ready?

Community gardens and orchards. Free to pick what you like, children's and adults clubs to teach people when to pick, sow, etc. Not just food but flowers. Trees. Perenials such as rhubarb, kale and others. I really think that it could work.

I saw a TED Talk about a town who has a whole community or people who grow food in random places wherever there is a free bit of grass and I swear to god I think it could work really well.

I actually can't see a problem arising and if the problem is 'the economy' well how? Because when people are struggling to pay for food I really dgaf about the economy.
Allotments are a nice idea but many are full and have waiting lists of Years and years.

We have a couple of small, secret almost community gardens in a few big parks in our city and they are really cute, work well. Nobody ruins them and if someone took all of the cucumbers then there is a spirit of 'well I guess they needed them'. Part of the reward is in the growing and outside space and time.

Also flowers. There are so many people living in tiny flats with no or very little outside space. Wouldn't adding a few flowers be nice? Maybe a pear tree or 2.

Its the good life isn't it? A very frequent dream is packing up and living off the land. Well why not communal land? What good is that piece of grass? Needs cutting, is littered all over and what? Pooed on?

I'm not some radical who will go round digging up peoples gardens or anything but I was thinking about a previous poster who said that they sorted out their communal garden in their flats and only after she made it nice did everyone else start using it. Well wouldn't the same happen everywhere?
People pay money to go to botanical gardens, so there is a market for this (if you know what I mean)

There could be communal run compost bins which would dramatically reduce waste and green house gasses. That compost would mean almost no costs because that's the main one isn't it?
Classes could be held at libraries and community centres about seed saving.
Everyone could save their pot noodle pots and yoghurt tubs for plant pots. Arts and crafts fairs could have children painting them, I just can't see a downside.

That is how I would fix the worlds problems anyway.

Halve the number of men. This is about the wold having been run as a patriarchy for eternity - patriarchy is what makes some women behave badly (those nuns referred to by a PP were absolutely embedded in a vile patriarchal system).

Anyone over 75 gets offered a painless exit.

Jaysmith71 · 22/09/2021 10:42

@barbrahunter

Make women in charge.
Which women?

Margaret Thatcher? Indira Gandhi? Golda Meier? Tulip Siddiq's Auntie?

Your system is even more vile.

Loving the idea that women are too thick to think for themselves so just do everything for the patriarchy... always pointed out by the only one who has worked it out.

So women only behave badly because of men - that is so depressing to think that we don't think for ourselves.

And presumably we would have to have some men - which ones do you pick? Do we kill excess baby boys?

LukeEvansWife · 22/09/2021 10:47

It is actually slightly disturbing how many people's solution to a problem is to kill half of the population. Hitler advocated killing fewer than that - he actually seems more sensible that half the posters on here

IWillFindYou · 22/09/2021 10:57

@LukeEvansWife

Get rid of women

See - sounds stupid doesn't it?

Yes, it does. Why? Look at the crime statistic. Look at how many women are harrassed, abused, stalked, raped, killed… And then look at who is doing that.
Jaysmith71 · 22/09/2021 11:03

How about a serious suggestion?

Give men the tits.

It would take a weight off women's shoulders (geddit?) Keep young men off the streets getting into trouble because they'd just stay home and play with them, and then it gives them an extra responsibility in childcare.

Could even bring back Page 3?

Are you saying that vile nuns were under the control of men and couldn't think for themselves?

What about girls who are absolute bitches to other girls?

Women can be bloody awful to other women, nothing to do with men.

The biggest issue is too much power held by too few people who'll always put their own interests first.

lockdownmadnessdotcom · 22/09/2021 11:41

Anyone who thinks women are nicer than men clearly didn't go to an all girls' school.

LukeEvansWife · 22/09/2021 11:47

Oh okay so wiping out half the population will sort that right out.

Women are perfectly capable of being arseholes and they are no more capable of running the world than men

LukeEvansWife · 22/09/2021 11:47

And you say about violence - but it seems okay to kill all the men Confused

DaphneDeloresMoorhead · 22/09/2021 11:49

@barbrahunter

Make women in charge.
This.
LukeEvansWife · 22/09/2021 11:50

But nobody seems to know why it would make a better world?

Being violent, being dangerous, making unwise decisions for personal gain, those aren't restricted to men.

Quartz2208 · 22/09/2021 11:57

DS has Covid so we have binged watch Avengers Infinity War and Endgame and the kind of unspoken issue is that Thanos in removing 50% of the population to save the earth has a point. In Endgame 5 years after doing so everyone other than humans is doing well and the wildlife and environment is thriving.

But human desire is to bring people back because he did it indiscriminately and removed good decent people. Because how can you do it by choosing to do so. Yet at the end all of the "baddies" are wiped out in the same way and no one bats an eyelid.

Yes I have been forced to watch a lot of it but it underlying theme does fit in nicely with this

As for women in charge - the woman in charge in Avengers sacrifices herself to make sure a man doesnt and to bring everyone else back

IWillFindYou · 22/09/2021 12:09

@LukeEvansWife

Op asked how to fix worlds problems, zapping out men would be a good start.
They are the cause of vast majority of problems.

Simple as that. I don’t undesrtand why you are so worked up about this hypothetical. The men aren’t going anywhere, don’t worry. Smile

For those who say women are horrible to eachother : I think a lot of women would just chillax if men wouldn’t exist.
Also, women really aren’t the cause of most of the violence, rape, war, murder…etc.

SirenSays · 22/09/2021 12:34

We had a community garden in the centre of a city I used to live in abroad. It was lovely, well looked after and the food was delicious.
Here in England, the council planted apple trees near the town centre. They produce golf ball sized rock hard apples that rot on the slabs or get pelted about by drunks every weekend.

upinaballoon · 22/09/2021 13:12

@NannyOggsWhiskyStash

Universal basic income as a starting point, leading to the end of capitalism, it patently does not work. Religion only as a hobby. Politicians and models chosen by lottery.
Sorry, Nanny if someone's already asked this, but where does the money come from, for the universal basic income?
Lockdownbear · 22/09/2021 13:45

Whats the difference between Unversial basic income and UC?

MatildaIThink · 22/09/2021 14:57

UBI, everyone gets the same amount no matter how much they earn, in theory it needs to be enough to live on and replace all benefits. UC, means tested benefits.
Pikamoo · 22/09/2021 15:08

Empower women throughout the world.

Lockdownbear · 22/09/2021 15:20

If everyone gets the same amount regardless of what they earn, very communistic ideals.
What's the point in people taking on management roles with extra pressure and stress, if it makes no difference to their income?

RobertaFirmino · 22/09/2021 15:26

Say there were no men...

How on earth would people procreate? Would we need to make synthetic jizz in a lab or something?

The women kill off the men, then the women all die and the planet lives on with the lion as king 🤴
Lockdownbear · 22/09/2021 15:43

People who think that the world would be better without men. At what point do you kill the boys, are the shot at birth or allowed to reach 18?
Think how evil that is to the mum, and then say women aren't evil.

Alpinechalet · 22/09/2021 16:45

A single global hourly rate of pay. You work an hour and receive the same rate of pay. Who says x job is more valuable to society than y job. Why should people in some countries doing the same job get vastly higher hourly rates than those in other countries.

Lockdownbear · 22/09/2021 16:51

@Alpinechalet how are you going to persuade people to spend years studying to become Doctors, Engineers, Teachers if at the end of the day they'll earn the same as a cleaner?

I agree internationally a Doctor should earn the same, but I don't agree they should be earning the same as a cleaner.
