Do I need to get my ex’s opinion on a name?

I'm pregnant and due in December, me and my ex split up in July as he cheated, since then he hasn't once asked how me or baby are but has said he wants to be in his life.

I have a list of names that I like, and I'm leaning towards it, but I'm just wondering if I'll need my ex’s opinion? Baby will also be taking my last name.

@AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken

Where did I say he had already established a relationship?

My second was Unborn (I discovered after I asked him to leave)
My older one was 11 months

He had spent no time with him at all.

In fact more than 6 months of that time in another country

He took Herculaneum effort for me to set aside so much but

  1. I wanted to give him a chance to fatherhood
  2. I have no family support whatsoever. I knew I would benefit from him practical help too

And now here we are. We came out the other side and have carved out a relationship that

  1. Works very well for the children and he did prove himself to be a good father
  2. Helps me enormously with being a single working parent with no support

Unless there are complicated cross-cultural issues I can't see any reason why you should consult him.

Are his family likely to be involved/helpful?

Nope. Choose the name YOU love, (and as you've said, your surname). Don't be pressured or guilted into allowing him to be there to register the birth.

Given he's shown no interest I wouldn't even tell him when the baby is here, even a dickhead can work out the approximate due date & ask how you're doing.

If he wants any kind of relationship with his child let him do all the running, otherwise he'll just bail out when he pleases leaving your child in a worse position than if he's never been involved.

Best wishes for the birth! (Which you do NOT have to allow him to be at)
