Carrying on from Thread 1.

Haven't seen the OP around, thread 1 is about to run out and someone asked for a new thread.

He will probably get away with it in the end, as in, no charge. But he'll feel like a huge victim so he won't have any sense of having got away with it.

GrimDamnFanjo · 26/09/2021 15:59

I'm betting he remarries Fergie fairly soon...

ChurchofLatterDayPaints · 26/09/2021 16:17

Yes of course he will: the perfect opportunity to squeeze the taxpayer to fund his debts in the guise of royal wedding expense while superficially putting his badboy days behind him and playing the reformed prodigal son returning to the fold. No other avenue open to him.

MyOhMySimon · 26/09/2021 16:40

Not to mention Spousal (Communication) Privilege, if need be and it doesn't already apply.

OP posts:
SpindleWorld · 26/09/2021 17:09

Maybe they've already quietly remarried? How would we know if they did it in a registry office in, say, Glenrothes or Macclesfield? Journalists would have to manually trawl district registers to find that needle in haystack before it eventually came online.

I don't think they'd have a big event, anyway.

MyOhMySimon · 26/09/2021 17:16

Yes I agree. I don't think they would.

GrimDamnFanjo · 26/09/2021 17:37

To be honest I just thought they were divorced in name only as the RF couldn't condone the toe sucking incident.
I reckon they've been enjoying an "open marriage" for years.

I think you’re right. Is that arcane piece of legislation still on the statute books?
Roussette · 26/09/2021 17:42

That's an interesting take on it Grim
Quite likely

ChurchofLatterDayPaints · 26/09/2021 17:47

Since when does SF do anything quietly? And would she really have put up with the trips to Epstein's island?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/09/2021 18:16

Well, they condone Andrew's behaviour, Edward's assorted stupidities and Charles's Tampongate and the hiding of the legal report into the validity of his "marriage"

But of course they're all "of royal blood", so it's different

TipseyTorvey · 26/09/2021 19:48

I suspect SF would happily put up with all kinds given the financial difficulties she got into. Now she lives rent free with all the trappings and no requirements for personal appearances waving at poor people. I think she's done rather well out of the whole situation quite frankly.

Blossomtoes · 26/09/2021 20:00

I agree @TipseyTorvey. I imagine her tolerance knows no bounds. She knows which side her bread’s buttered.

CathyorClaire · 26/09/2021 21:12

I've said it before but Andrew is not only the 'most honourable man she knows' but more pertinently Fergie's meal ticket.

How else would she get to live the aristo lifestyle free, gratis and for nothing?

Limpets have a lesson or two to learn from her.

Roussette · 26/09/2021 21:48

Fergie is broke. End of.

She knows which side her bread's buttered.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/09/2021 22:04

Playing devil's advocate here for a minute, but how can Fergie keep being broke?

She's been bailed out again and again by various folk - each more of a scumbag than the last - and it's not as if she has housing, utility or probably transport costs
I know she's not exactly noted for good judgement (or any judgement at all) but what the hell's she spending it on?

Neveragain990 · 26/09/2021 22:15

The royals have always been messed up since forever. What about Henry VIII, the serial killer?! People make a lot of money out of them though. Harry is putting the final nail in the coffin I expect (after Andrew, Charles and Di, Prince Phillip’s ‘secret’ will…etc). He really annoys me.

Roussette · 26/09/2021 22:19

Puzzled

Who knows. A millionaire lifestyle no doubt

Plumtree391 · 27/09/2021 00:21

Throughout history there have been scandalous royals. However it has to be said that the Queen, her father and grandfather plus wives, were honourable and set a good example. The one before her grandfather was a bit of a lad. Prior to him was QueenVic who was generally quite highly regarded; her husband was a marvellous, humane man.

Just thinking about Henry Vlll gives me the veritable creeps.

Is Fergie broke at the moment? I understood things were going quite well for her now and she is financially stable.

SpindleWorld · 27/09/2021 00:29

I think the Queen's rep will be going down with Andrew in the briney at this rate.

lllllllllll · 27/09/2021 00:46

When Theresa May did that embarrassing curtsey William should have said with a smile "no, please, no need for that". Instead he accepted it as his God given right. They really don't get the mood of the people.

To be fair, I did think at the time that Wills looked faintly embarrassed that the prime minister was curtsying to him.

Roussette · 27/09/2021 06:24

I should rephrase what I said. Fergie is not stoney broke but that's because she's living at the massive Royal Lodge, Windsor with her ex. He is supporting her lifestyle, her being able to live in splendour, her travel to other Palaces etc. She's been there since 2006.

Without this and being funded by him, she would not be able to live in the matter to which she's accustomed, all this means she can ponce about in the grounds of Royal Lodge doing photoshoots in eye wateringly expensive outfits, to sell her Mills & Boon books.

I have no time for her or quite obviously her husband. They're both freeloaders.

ChurchofLatterDayPaints · 27/09/2021 07:22

Plumtree carefully leaving out the raging Nazi forced to abdicate in 1936... Bit more than "scandalous", perhaps "criminal" might be a better word.

CathyorClaire · 27/09/2021 10:01

her father and grandfather plus wives, were honourable and set a good example

Queen Mary had a magpie's eye for other people's trinkets and if they took her fancy she'd hint so hard her hapless host would feel obliged to hand over the loot. Many resorted to hiding their valuables before she visited.

The queen mother was a snobbish old lush who ran up massive debt maintaining the lifestyle she felt entitled to. Debt her daughter felt obliged to repay after her death.

I think she and PA have been living beyond their means for years. It's a consequence of mixing with the very rich, who spend their days travelling from ski resorts to carribean islands, to NY, to London and so on, simply for something to do. But they simply don't have the income to keep up. Wasn't there allegedly some dispute or other about payments for their Verbier ski chalet?

I disagree that Fergie has done well out of this. Imagine being dependent on an alleged sex offender for your income! Or dependent on anyone for that matter. When the Queen's reign ends, I imagine that they will be in quite a precarious position. I imagine PC will want to distance himself from his brother when he is King. I doubt he will want them in such close proximity at Windsor. I wouldn't like to be going in to retirement knowing that my annual stipend was dependent on a close relative who doesn't like me very much! Especially if my sole "purpose" in life was to turn up at smart events in different countries staying in flash hotels, wearing designer clothes, which all costs a fortune!

Having said that, I imagine the Queen will leave some money from her private fortune to PA in her will. Or she will stipulate that he has to be looked after in some way. I don't imagine they will end up living in a two up, two down somewhere in Maidenhead.
