I know this has been done before, and I’ve read many stories, but I need more! Please tell me your creepy stories!

Mine is

Just over 10 years ago, I got pregnant and had a missed miscarriage, and went to hospital to have the D&C to have the baby removed. Exactly a year to the day after the procedure, I woke in the middle of the night. In my half asleep state, I felt like something was watching me, right next to my head, and I moved. Then suddenly, it felt like a rush of wind went over my face and down my body to my feet. It properly woke me up and I went cold. I turned on the light to see if there was anything in my room, nothing was there. Didn’t have any drinks or anything upstairs, no idea what it could have been. But it has always been a comfort to me thinking that it was my baby saying they were ok.

@spaceghetto

When I was a teenager we went abroad for the first time. We kept on seeing people who looked exactly like from grandmother. When we arrived home, my aunt was at the airport to tell us my grandmother had passed away. They didn't want to ruin our holiday. My mum was obviously devastated but remembers the holiday as one where grandmother came too
Apparently often bereaved people see the person they have lost in crowds etc immediately after death. My brother kept feeling he was seeing my father after he died.
SquarePeggyLeggy · 19/09/2021 06:47

Not creepy, beautiful really, but a bit supernatural.
Between my two daughters I’d had two losses and failed multiple rounds of IVF. My daughter didn’t know about this (she was little).
One day we were both in the shower, and she was chatting away, then stopped, made intense eye contact and touched my belly and said: “that’s my baby sister in there. Well not yet, but she will be”. 2 months later I was pregnant with her baby sister.

I’ve never told anyone and I can’t explain it and the way her whole manner changed, it was really serious and then she went straight back to playing. It was like she was passing on a message from elsewhere. And she never mentioned anything again or claimed to know it was a sister the whole time I was pregnant. I can’t even explain the feeling.

SquarePeggyLeggy · 19/09/2021 06:52

Cut off. I can’t even explain the feeling I had when she told me. I just thought, she’s right. Even though I had no reason to think I could even become pregnant again.
I also knew I was pregnant before doing the test, just knew and thought: “yes, this is what daughter said, she’s here now. Just totally calm like: this is expected.
It sounds crazy so I’ve never told anyone.

Years ago I lost a son through stillbirth. About 5/6 years afterwards I saw a boy standing in my hallway only a fleeting glance a boy roughly the same age my son would have been had he survived
A few years later I fell pregnant with a boy and he looks exactly as that little boy was when he was standing in my hallway .

I went to see Public Enemy at a club in Brighton and I was right up the front, everyone was squashed forward.
Someone (male) pushed his fingers between my legs and ran them over my private parts (I had jeans on).
I turned to a sea of 'innocent' faces looking at the band.

I felt fucking sick. My blood ran cold, I couldn't believe how violated I felt, despite being clothed and it being a relatively minor thing.

I remember thinking, if it made me feel that bad, I can't imagine how horrific it must be to get raped.

I know that wasn't the kind of creepy you were after, but it was seriously fucking creepy.

A long time ago during house renovations we started to remove the old bathroom suite and walls to re-plaster. Behind the toilet was a wall and behind that it was stuffed with newspaper dated 1995. We moved in in 1989.

CovidCorvid · 19/09/2021 07:26

My dad used to live in a house which had once belonged to Katherine Swynford, so properly old. Had turrets, stone spiral staircase, etc. He was the only person living there and was the most down to earth, scientific person ever. He said when he was in bed he frequently heard distinct footsteps going up and down the landing.

I have loads but NC as I’ve told a lot of them before

About 15 years ago I was having a bit of a rough time. I was in the middle of a divorce, my grandad had just died and my dream house had fallen through, all within 24 hours of each other. I had a strong sense that my grandad was around, kept seeing him in the back of my car etc
Anyway one night on the way home from work I had an accident in my car where I hit a concrete block on the outside lane on the motorway. It was dark and I’d lost control of my steering but my car just drifted across 3 lanes of traffic and came to a stop on the hard shoulder. No idea how I wasn’t hit as it was rush hour and very very busy.
Anyway, hours later I got home. I was newly alone in the house and a bit shaken. Suddenly I felt freezing cold and the clothes that were lying in the back of the chair in my bedroom started billowing up in the air. A couple of doors slammed (they all had wedges as it was a new build with fire doors). Eventually I felt so scared I said out loud ‘grandad you’re scaring me now’ and it stopped.
The next day I took my car to the garage. I was asked to pick it up later and they told me the damage was too much to repair and I should consider replacing. I went to pay the bill.
The woman behind the counter asked what happened. I told her and she said ‘someone was looking out for you last night’. I laughed it off but she said ‘who was it? You had a visitation last night didn’t you? How long have you been able to see people?’
I admitted it was since I was about 15. ‘That’s nice’ she said. ‘Is it your grandfather? I’m a spiritualist’
I’ve never been able to explain it but it gave me a lot of comfort at a very difficult time in my life

Namechangedforspooky · 19/09/2021 07:45

On a similar note, I once stopped for petrol with my mum at a busy shopping centre not long after my grandma (same grandparents ) had died. I went to pay and as I was walking back over the forecourt I could see my grandma in the car with my mum. She was in the back but looking out from between the seats and watching me, right next to my mum
I’ve had a strong sense of her presence before, interestingly furniture polish as pp also said
I was close to both my grandparents and had a lot of odd experiences after both of them died

BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 19/09/2021 08:03

I love reading these but some of them scare me especially if I read them at night! I found the "Bella!" and the "doctor" stories particularly creepy!

I've have some stories of my own but they would be outing so not sure whether to share.

Hold up there.

Are you saying that in 1989 you saw newspapers from 1995 or that the you were renovating the bathroom after 1995 but the papers were from after you moving in?
Either way that is madness, but the first option more so.

BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 19/09/2021 08:06

I read it as the latter.

Awalkintime · 19/09/2021 08:12

We did the renovations I think it was about 2000 maybe.

When we pulled the wall down there were newspapers behind the wall dated 1995 but we had moved in in 1989 and had not done any work on that room before.

Iwouldratherbemuckingout · 19/09/2021 08:27

When I was 21, my grandfather died. For years, I used to have an overwhelming smell of cigars come to me at very bizarre times (such as when mucking out my horse, no one else around never mind someone smoking a cigar), my granddad loved cigars.
My DP didn’t believe me till one night we were driving across the Yorkshire moors, nothing for miles, and the car filled with the smell of cigars. Completely freaked my DP out, he was convinced if he looked round my grandad would be sat in the back of the car. Hasn’t happened since I split from that DP, and I miss my granddads visits.

Iwouldratherbemuckingout · 19/09/2021 08:28

Just to add, I split up from that DP not long before my grandma died, which I suspect is the real reason grandad doesn’t visit anymore!

SophieKat1982 · 19/09/2021 08:31

@FantasticButtocks

Levitating, as a child of around 10. It used to happen as soon as I got into bed so I became afraid to get into bed because I knew as soon as I lay down that I would start lifting off the bed, feet and legs first. Sometimes going quite high above the bed. Very weird and destabilising. I'd immediately grip the side of the bed to get out and once I was standing upright I was fine, and then I'd steel myself and try again. Sometimes it would take a few goes before I could just lie down and turn on my side before it happened! Not sure how long this went on, weeks or months.

I guess there's some psychological explanation possibly, but still don't have a clue why it happened. I didn't tell anyone at the time. Even now, I would love to know if anyone has an explanation for this.

I had what I think was an astral projection experience once. I could feel the light switch under my hand in the room (I switched it on) but not the carpet under my feet. Somehow I knew that I was floating a few inches off the floor. I’ve never been able to explain it. It only happened to me once. It was very interesting, though. I’ve always been amazed rather than creeped out by it.
SophieKat1982 · 19/09/2021 08:38

Christmas 2003 and I’d just miscarried. We were at my in-laws house, I was upstairs and mother in law called me from downstairs. When I glanced down from the top of the stairs to ask what she wanted, she was holding a baby boy in her arms. It was a split second flash but I knew with complete certainty that by the next Christmas we’d have a baby. We did, a boy and the following Christmas this exact scenario I had seen in that split second happened. I found it so incredibly comforting.

Downunderduchess · 19/09/2021 08:51

@EKGEMS … I’m scared now!! Freaky.

CoronaLightSweet · 19/09/2021 08:52

For as long as I remember I’ve had weird little premonitions, when I was around 7 I was stood in my mums kitchen looking out the window and my uncle and auntie pulled into the close in their car, before they had knocked on the door I went through to my mum and told her ‘auntie has come to let us know she’s having a baby’, poor mums face when she revealed the newsGrin
Always have visitation dreams, the strangest was when my granny was in hospital (she lived abroad ) and I dreamt her mum and dad (my great grandparents, who have always been there with me spiritually) were cleaning their house, making biscuits and tea, all very calm and smily- I asked what was going on, and they said they’re getting the place ready for a visitor and they can’t wait, my granny died the following day.
I have soo many I’d be here all day!

Waitingforthecowstocomehome · 19/09/2021 08:54
@EKGEMS sorry another question! Do you think he was a doctor or just a random?
We had a bloke at our local hospital years ago who used to wander round with a white coat and stethoscope round his neck, talking to patients and examining patients. It could have been something similar.

Hawkmoth · 19/09/2021 08:55

@bluebellberry actually yes! Don't remember a smell, and certainly no damage, but if it really can come through windows then it could well be. Thank you.

Tiredmum100 · 19/09/2021 08:56

Ok, not too creepy but...

A few weeks ago I had a dream, woke up in the morning, my dh asked if I'd slept OK. I had but I had a dream that had unsettled me but couldn't quite remember. That night I was scrolling on my phone and came across an article about the Severn bore. I said to dh "oh, that reminds me about my dream, we were standing on a bridge in new york watching all this water flood down, it qas ok at first but then I got scared as it kept getting higher." Anyway didn't think any more of it. Went to work the next day, get home and starting chatting to my mum who had got my dc from school. She said "did you hear about all that flooding in new York today". I was like no, but I did dream about it 2 nights ago. Checked the news and there were the pictures and footage of the subways being flooded. That did make my blood run cold.

Another incident, my parents had mibed to live near me and their life long friends came to visit. We went over as well, pulled up outside my parents house and I had a thought "x is going fall over out here". Didn't think too much about it. We all had a nice afternoon, then myself and family left, arranging to meet everyone at a pub later for food. They were late as x had indeed fallen over and broken their arm.

3rd story, I am a nurse in the community. I was visiting a patient for end of life care. His wife wasn't coping very well and was very erratic. I couldn't stop thinking about a local tourist place near by. I was picturing pulling in to the car park over and over again. She then turned and said " and I don't know what I'm going to about the caravan at local attraction when he's gone". I did a scan of the room to see if there was a photo near by ot something that had triggered me to think about it, but there was nothing.

MrsColon · 19/09/2021 09:02

@BeagleBeagled

I used to have an orb drift across my curtain and along the wall above my head a few times a week in the middle of the night. The first few times I assumed I was still dreaming but them I made myself sit up and watch it. I haven't seen it for a while. I didn't know they were real or that they could be seen without a camera.
They're not real. On camera they're a speck of dust on the lens or reflecting the flash.

With the naked eye, they're usually cells on the retina (optometrists call them 'floaters').
