To hate the phrase “double jabbed”

MrsRobbieHart · 17/09/2021 10:53

(But also lighthearted Grin)

I hate the double part and I hate the jabbed part individually and the two combined.

It’s not double. You haven’t been doubly vaccinated, just fully vaccinated. If you only have the first one, you’re only partially vaccinated. So the second one is the completion of the vaccination- right? Not double the vaccination.

And jabbed is just yuck. I know I’m probably UR on this count as jabbed is a very commonly used term for a vaccination. It never bothered me before the term “double jabbed” came into usage. Now it makes me Hmm

And people saying “I’m double jabbed” makes me want to scream. “I have been double jabbed” would be slightly more acceptable.

You can all tell me how UR I am now

'Vaccinated' isn't a magical status you attain after two injections, it's a slope of individual immune responses mounted that varies between people which on average peaks after two doses. If you get one needle in your arm, you're vaccinated, some people after their first dose will have as strong an immune response if not stronger than someone else after two, therefore if you have two you are perfectly able to say double vaccinated, because vaccination is a process not a status.

I hate all the covid catchphrases
Second wave / 3rd wave etc being the worst

Bathshebahardy · 18/09/2021 09:58

It's the word jab I don't like. It means to poke someone and can often be an assault. We have been vaccinated, not jabbed (and we are fully vaccinated, not double jabbed).

cheesyunyin · 18/09/2021 09:58

I dont like jab either. Better than in America though. They call it a shot

@TheKeatingFive

Nothing will beat ‘blended learning’ as the trigger for internal screaming.
Wtf is blended learning? And I have school age DC.
Geamhradh · 18/09/2021 10:11

Blended Learning has been around since before Covid though. Just means some f2f and some online.

TheKeatingFive · 18/09/2021 10:12

Wtf is blended learning?

Just be eternally grateful you don’t know. Grin

SoupDragon · 18/09/2021 10:17

I love Blended Learning as it's meant DD has continued her schoolwork throughout her current covid infection with no fuss whatsoever (and, importantly, no input from me!).

I don't care what it's called 😂

JulesRimetStillGleaming · 18/09/2021 10:19

I don't mind double jabbed but the phrase 'in arms' turns my stomach. All the Tory politicians at one point were talking about getting doses in arms. I mean they all read the same script anyway which is another matter. Perish the thought they could speak for themselves.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 18/09/2021 10:22

Where I work we call it “double dipped” which makes us laugh. We are rural farming types through.

Aethelthryth · 18/09/2021 10:30

"social distance" as a verb. Awful.

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 18/09/2021 10:57

Why don't they just say that? It sounds like you're making a knowledge soup.

Hate the phrase "shudder" more than I hate double jabbed tbh OP 🤣😂🤣

TheAntiGardener · 18/09/2021 12:06

As others have said, ‘jabs in arms’ is particularly revolting. The overexcited ‘we must get jabs in arms!’ was horrible.

Strikes me as rather dehumanising, but then I have an issue with people being referred to as ‘heads’ too. As in ‘that department will need three more heads’. And don’t get me started on calling people ‘bods’. Less cold, but more sick-making version of the same thing.

Reduceddutiesboredom · 20/09/2021 12:27

Two jabs also isn’t “fully” vaccinated if they’re bringing out a 3rd round is it? Hmm

MrsRobbieHart · 20/09/2021 12:34

Two doses is fully vaccinated until you’re eligible for the 3rd dose Wink

Not sure why I’m getting the wee knobby face Grin
