Nice Things That Really Are Nice

In response to to the other thread I was wondering what other Mumsnetters enjoy.

Staying at home?
Staying at home when the house is really clean and tidy?
Not having visitors in the very clean and tidy house?

I imagine there are some slightly more exciting pleasures and am hoping people will share them.

Catching sight of my DC somewhere and being thrilled to the bone that these lovely people are mine .

Pur male cat (very shy) larding on our bed

When DD and I used to clean our guinea-pigs shed and replace all the paper and bedding , give them new boxes Then secure them for the night after they'd spent the day grazing , all tired and tubby .
(Actually the guinea[pigs thought Now where's supper and why the Jeff has she moved things ) Grin

The glugging sound the first glass of wine makes when poured. Log burning stoves. The Sunday papers. My DD reaching out to hold my hand. Homemade cake.

@GuyFawkesDay

Apologies for typos, puppy is on my lap 🤣
Please don't apologise for that - it paints a lovely picture, along with your previous post 😊 To make my smile and warm fuzzy feeling even bigger can you say what breed your puppy is, or if a Heinz, a photo will do! I just want to picture the scene in more detail xx

@LetsDoTheTango

The smell of my baby nephew's hair when he falls asleep on me.

The way my two cats rush to greet me, tails up and chirruping happily, when they spot me walking down the drive after I've been out all day.

The warm weight of a cat in your lap, who trusts you enough to let themselves fall into a deep, twitchy sleep while they dream of tuna.

An evening spent with friends I have known for decades, laughing hysterically until our stomachs hurt.

That feeling you get when you watch someone unwrap a gift you have taken time choosing for them, knowing they will absolutely love it.

The way my tummy flips with excitement when I hear my husband's key in the front door, followed by the big bear hug he gives me on saying hello.

That first sunny autumn day, where the sky is bright blue and the leaves have turned beautiful shades of red, gold and yellow, crunching underfoot.

A day spent with my mum, my dad and my sister. We all have very similar senses of humour so there is always a lot of laughter.

The first night sleeping in your own bed after being away from home.

Weekends spent pottering round the house while spending quality time with my husband as we work on creating our forever home together.

A fudgy and indulgent chocolate brownie alongside a strong cup of tea.

Finally, I have to agree with others and say that a hot bubble bath, followed by clean PJs and new bed sheets is very hard to beat.

This thread has made me feel all warm and fuzzy Smile

This one brought tears to my eyes. I love the way you and your partner are in love with each other, and I love the way you are in love with life (and I agree about the chocolate too!) 🍫

@Judystilldreamsofhorses, have you noticed that they are nearly all filmed in Canada, even when the snow is obviously fake! Not that I watch them of course...

Iwouldratherbemuckingout · 16/09/2021 08:16

My horse snuffling my face and kissing his soft velvety nose.
Coming home from working away to find my mum has not only fed the cats but done all the washing up and changed by bedding. I'm 55 and wept with joy and gratitude last night!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 16/09/2021 11:16

@HeartvsBrain I think they are filmed in a job lot in high summer. I have no qualms about admitting to being a proper trash TV consumer (Love Island etc) but these really are a guilty pleasure!

LowlandLucky · 16/09/2021 16:24

CyanideInThePaste I have to agree with you and will admit to eating a whole pack in one sitting Blush

WhatWouldKalindaDo · 16/09/2021 18:51

Reading a book in bed. Extra points if it's a trashy novel Grin

dementedma · 16/09/2021 18:58

Sitting out in the summer house with wine and a good book, listening to the Wood pigeons burbling
