To ask what vaccine side effects you had?

Not intended to be a debate on whether or not to get the vaccine, just purely interested in people's side effects and which particular vaccine they had? I'm finally taking the plunge today after much deliberation and being really unsure due to breastfeeding a baby and severe anxiety. But I'm very worried about how I'm going to feel afterwards and whether I'll feel well enough to care for my baby. Any experiences?

Yes v bad hangover, achy like flu

Awalkintime · 11/09/2021 12:37

AZ - had a sore arm, headache and feeling lethargic. I also had very sensitive skin so it hurt to shower, wear clothes etc for a few days.

2nd - nothing.

Pinkbonbon · 11/09/2021 12:37

Pfizer, jag one just a sore arm.

Jag two I had a sore arm. And a tickley throat that kept me up that night. And some odd symptoms on and off for the next fortnight or so which I assume were linked like tiredness.

Oddly though, I've had quite a few headaches this past 6 weeks since. I dont normally get more than one a month. But ive had maybe, 8 or 10. Dunno if its linked. My glasses might just need updating though lol.

I'm a Type 1 diabetic and had Pfizer
First one an achy arm and raised blood sugars for a few days, second one no reaction at all

OneTC · 11/09/2021 12:40

AZ1: didn't feel good at all, sweated buckets and 3 day headache, achy joints

AZ2: slightly achy in the arm that got the jab, no other side effects

SparklyLeprechaun · 11/09/2021 12:41

AZ
1st dose - sore arm for a few days, fatigue and mild flu-like symptoms for a day or so - I wasn't incapacitated, still did the school run and cooked
2nd - sore arm and nothing else

TroysMammy · 11/09/2021 12:41

Pfizer 1at dose sore arm 24 hours. 2nd dose nothing.

icedcoffees · 11/09/2021 12:42

I had Pfizer.

I just had a slightly achy arm for 24 hours after both doses, and I felt tired and a bit like I was developing a cold for a couple of days after the second one too.

But it was really no big deal.

orinocosfavoritecake · 11/09/2021 12:43

None

EpitomeOfIndifference · 11/09/2021 12:44

First dose - Pfizer - no side effects, not even a sore arm

Second dose - Moderna - fever of 39, headache, fatigue, body chills, extremely sore arm and aches starting about 18 hours after lasting until about 36 hours after.

It was a rough day but was so short lived it was worth it 100%. It was bad enough to make me really sure I didn’t want to ever have Covid so would happily be vaccinated again!

MouseholeCat · 11/09/2021 12:45

Not really that different to when I get the flu jab tbh.

I had Pfizer, about 12 hours after my arm was aching and I felt fatigued. About 24 hours after I had a headache and my body felt achey. I went to bed a little early and woke up feeling fine. I'd have been totally okay to look after a child, go to work and do any number of things.

DH had Moderna and had the same reactions but stronger. He was able to function fine after taking an Ibuprofen though.

Notimeforaname · 11/09/2021 12:45

Janssen - no side effects at all.

Stunnedscared · 11/09/2021 12:48

Sore arm for a few days both times, first dose more like a heavy cold than flu achy muscles, bit shivery, tired. Lasted a day. AZ for me.

DP for about 48 hours after first dose, sore arm and shivers, dizziness, aches. He had Pfizer. Nothing except achy arm second.

Both of us could have managed to look after a baby ok.

feellikeanalien · 11/09/2021 12:49

AZ. First dose felt a bit achy that evening but then felt nauseous for about 10 days. A bit like morning sickness.

Second dose nothing.

getmeouttahere2019 · 11/09/2021 13:02

I was diagnosed with reactive arthritis, different joints for a period of 5 weeks as a very likely result of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
I had the second one on the advise if the consultant and was given the promise of immediate steroids if required.
Luckily not so much as a headache with the second.🤷‍♀️

Could you go to a walk in on a Friday so your DP can take over parenting duties at the weekend if you feel rough?

ThreeLittleDots · 11/09/2021 13:07

Pfizer; only a sore arm each time

2pinkginsplease · 11/09/2021 13:08

Pfizer
1st an achy arm
2nd a really painful arm and a blinding sore head that lasted 2/3 days.

DramaAlpaca · 11/09/2021 13:12

I had Moderna. After the 1st one, I was very tired for a couple of days.
After the 2nd one, I was mildly fluey for 12 hours.

DH and DS1 had Pfizer with no after effects, DS2 felt a bit off the day after his second one.

DS3 had Janssen, felt a bit off for a few hours that evening.

We all had sore arms but that's normal when you've had a needle in it.

RampantIvy · 11/09/2021 13:23

AZ, no side effects apart from a sore arm for a day or two.

LoulaJ · 11/09/2021 13:29

That's the reason I'm having it today as he's home until Monday. But I'm still BF so he will need to bring the baby to me for feeds even if I'm bedridden, so I expect I'll need to function to some degree anyway.

Pfizer, None.

Rugbycomet · 11/09/2021 13:45

JANSSEN….none at all. However, started to get swollen lymph nodes in armpit about three weeks afterwards and now, four months after it, I’m still feeling intermittent pain. Had a couple of ultrasounds and a CT scan done before they decided it was the vaccine effects. Apparently unusual for it to go on for so long! 🤷🏼‍♀️
Not in the UK

TopBitchoftheWitches · 11/09/2021 13:48

I had az, after first one given pm, I felt awful and didn't sleep at all that night due to mainly up and down temp.

After the second, no issues at all.

upaladderagain · 11/09/2021 13:51

Absolutely none after either first or second.
No-one I know did either, apart from one, who says she felt a bit under the weather the following day but couldn't put her finger on anything specific.
