Nootkah · 10/09/2021 17:30

So it looks likely the roll out of vaccines for healthy 12-15 year olds will be agreed next week. I'm consenting, and my teen wants it.

What about you?

YABNU - Yes, Im co senting too
YABU - Nope

And some noticed a sore arm around the vaccination site.

They're hardly dropping dead are they?

My audit of a recent post.

You're ignoring the fact that the 'vaccines' are in experimental stage,

Not true.

and that they tamper with the child's genes.

I think someone who believes this doesn't know what a gene is.

There's no telling what complications may arise in five years time. Why disregard the 99.8% survival rate? Once in, you'll never get it out.

Nothing obviously false or nonsensical there.

The 'vaccine' doesn't prevent infection, re-infection or transmission

It does all three to a signficant degree, so this is false.

Madness to use your child as a guineapig when they are not at risk. The average age for UK covid deaths is 83 years, I believe

Nothing obviously false or nonsensical there.

DS(13) wants it and will have it ASAP. COVID-19 was unpleasant for him, he doesn't want it again, and he wants to protect other people.

Lourdes12 · 14/09/2021 14:21

The pandemic is over, move on and stop continuing this saga by taking the jab and spreading the virus. People are so ignorant

TheSockMonster · 14/09/2021 14:24

DD (turns 12 in April) - yes
DS (turns 13 in October) - probably

You can view the range of adverse reactions (including 7 severe and 1 life threatening event) reported in Pfizer's trial of 12-15 year olds by linking directly to Pfizer's study - published here in the New England Journal of Medicine (and hidden away in the supplementary index) 1131 children received the vaccine in the trial. www.nejm.org/doi/suppl/10.1056/NEJMoa2107456/suppl_file/nejmoa2107456_appendix.pdf

barbicanfox · 14/09/2021 16:50

I meant supplementary appendix!

Reassuringly tiny numbers.

@Silverswirl

No, my 12 year old will not be having it- not yet anyway. I am fully vaxxed. It’s not only the sort term side effects but the unknown long term effects that bother me. For a virus that is incredibly small risk to him. If even one non CEV 12-15 year old teen dies and it’s deemed as a result of the vaccine the government have blood on their hands. It’s not been reccommended by the JCVI for a reason!
If you're worried about long-term effects, why not worry that covid itself could have long-term effects as that is far more likely.
Mischance · 14/09/2021 17:02

a tiny risk of myocarditis, or inflammation of the heart, which is more common in young people - and particularly younger boys - after a second dose.

The proposal is that children will only have one dose.

barbicanfox · 14/09/2021 19:42

"The risk of 12-15 year old healthy boys experiencing cardiac adverse events such as myocarditis after their second dose of the Pfizer and BioNTech vaccine is around four times adolescents’ risk of being admitted to hospital as a result of infection with SARS-CoV-2, a preprint study has found." www.bmj.com/content/374/bmj.n2251?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_term=hootsuite&utm_content=sme&utm_campaign=usage

Firstly , they are only offering one dose. Secondly, the study hadn't been published yet. The MHRA have looked at the data and stated "the findings are limited by the fact that the study does not take into account differences in treatment practices when comparing hospitalisation rates between covid-19 infections and myocarditis and pericarditis presenting post-vaccination and there is no assessment of severity and duration of illness after admission" i.e. the people hospitalised with Covid could have been a lot more ill than those treated for myocarditis so just comparing hospitalisation doesn't tell you much. My understanding is myocarditis can occur after viral infections anyway and may not even be noticed.

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 15/09/2021 10:45

I’m on the fence both my children don’t want it.

My 12 year old has acute asthma, anaphylaxis allergies and is over weight (due to prescription steroids) so I’d definitely say no for him.

My 15 year old has had covid and was absolutely fine and still has anti-bodies even a year after of contracting covid (was blood tested last week).

So for them the risk is small/high

Dreambigger · 15/09/2021 10:59

We always vaccinate HEALTHY children thats the point of vaccination. We vaccinate young children against flu and they have rarely any problems with flu itself its for protection of the community. Anything that helps us avoid another winter like last year is helpful.

harryandmarv · 15/09/2021 11:07

Neither of my teens (ds,12 & dd,16) will be having it. They don’t want to after seeing what their dad went through after having his first.

Mischance · 15/09/2021 15:06

The pandemic is over, - would that this were so.

Magicpaintbrush · 15/09/2021 15:29

Is anybody else worried about the effect vaccination had on many women's menstrual cycles and therefore what effect there might be on girls going through puberty?

Belladonna12 · 15/09/2021 15:47

Considering there is evidence that covid can affect menstrual cycles why not worry about whether that might effect puberty too?
Shitfuckcommaetc · 15/09/2021 15:50

Is it not possible to worry about both at the same time

Magicpaintbrush · 15/09/2021 15:50

Yes, that's what I'm worried about but it's never mentioned anywhere. My DD is 12 and hasn't started her periods yet, I don't want her system mucked up before it's even got going.

Shitfuckcommaetc · 15/09/2021 15:55

Considering I've just had my first period after nothing since January you're right to question it

Magicpaintbrush · 15/09/2021 16:10

Shitfuckcommaetc - Wow that is awful! Which vaccine did you have?

I had AZ and after years of a regular cycle I now have periods that show signs of starting, then stop, then come back 3-4 days later. 100% after having the vaccine. I'm still glad I had it as my baby making days are behind me, but the same is not true for younger girls/women.

Shitfuckcommaetc · 15/09/2021 16:23

Pfizer, No more babies for me either, So not overly worried for myself. I'm usually like clockwork!
But yes I'd have horrendous cramps & tender breasts but nothing ever started. I've taken so many pregnancy tests!!
