How often am I seeing this on Sm these days 🙈

‘And just like that..such and such is 7’ etc etc 🙄

Aibu in doing another massive eye roll at seeing this yet again or am I just a miserable bugger?

I am guilty of this and the public gushing of affection towards my partner / child / pets / friends and was going to say that you’re all petty and miserable for letting something so inane bother you so much ... then I remembered that whenever I see someone write lil’ instead of little I get some weird inside rage about it I totally hate it ha ha 😂 lucky that one is not so popular anymore!

PileOfBooks · 11/09/2021 03:03

I do tend to think a bit less of people who do this! I guess we gravitate to people who are similar to us or who have a common thread or an interest. So I probably wouldn't bond with a facebook hun!

wobblywinelover · 11/09/2021 05:52

'This one' 'Beautiful couple' 'So....' 'This happened' 'Living my best life' 'Copy and paste I know the ones who won't..'...

But being a wobblywinelover i'm a member of lots of weight loss groups and the thing which really annoys me most, and I can't rationalise it, but is grown women describing things as 'yummy'. There are several other adjectives they could use but they choose the go to phrase from a toddler!

BeachDrifting · 11/09/2021 06:08

“Living my best life” gives me the rage or seeing a picture of someones small child with “living his/her best life” they’re 4 years old. They have no idea. Rage inducing! When people write “yummy” or “bday” instead of birthday. That really irritates me

@JackieWeaversZoomAc

SM has really lost its shine hasn't it? Its become very tedious, like one massive interactive banal advertising con/delusion, with lots of divison, fighting, one upmanship and fighting on the side.

I find I'm hardly ever on FB these days & I'm only really interested in a couple of hobby groups on there. I find myself having very little interest in what anyone else posts on there.

I mostly do twitter for political/GC reasons, avoid Insta (me me me me buy buy buy buy) like the plague, and MN very very occasionally. On the plus side I am reading a lot more and as my kindle died I'm reading actual books again.

All my life I've been a bit of an "early adaptor" so here's a tip from me -
Books are the new SM - pass it round.

Weirdly, I'm another early adopter who now spends more time reading real books.

Social media is the curse of the century.

I second all the above.

I can’t stand “happy heavenly birthday “ with a tag of someone who died 10 years ago. It’s so strange to speak directly to them.

Backwaterjunction · 11/09/2021 06:43

Yes I hate it, and then I think of the future when parents are banging on about mental health for their kids and it never dawns on them the pressure that all thousands of little “you’ve smashed it” over the years has put on them to perform and that the parents themselves are guilty of causing mental health problems

starlight13 · 11/09/2021 08:58

I hear you op.
The freedom of the 'snooze' option on FB. I feel 'blessed' being able to use it 🤣

MintyGreenDream · 11/09/2021 09:14

Omg I would have been cringing for him urgh

They are just wishing they could say it to them, and saying it out loud in case on some level the deceased person might know they are not forgotten. Posting it on social media also reminds others that the deceased person existed, which is important to some relatives.

I think it's a public display of grief... Why post that? I want to see cat memes and nothing else! 😁 😂 😜 😉
TheYearOfSmallThings · 11/09/2021 14:15

Well, I would also prefer cat memes tbh, even if I were grieving, but I try to make allowance!

MeredithGreyishblue · 11/09/2021 17:26

I generally don't mind any happy posts. But these make me chuckle

"My lovely nan in Heaven. She would have been 126 today."

"OMG, that's amazing hun. 💜"
