Not to offer the photographers a wedding breakfast?

Just wondering if this is cheeky or not. Maybe this is the done thing and I don’t know about it!

We are hoping to get married next year. There will be one photographer and his assistant. Their photos are great to be fair and we are very happy to have booked them.

We’ve just got the contract through. They have asked us to order two wedding breakfasts that they will eat in a side room.

AIBU to think this is a bit cheeky? We are paying them a four figure sum. Why can’t they bring a flask, a lunch bag and a packet of crisps like everyone else who goes out to work?!

Is this a common request?

I've never heard of this.
When we got married our photographer was only with us for around 4 hours and promptly left without even saying goodbye. He was gone before we even got to our reception venue.

@GreyhoundG1rl Her contract states that she requests a meal but 'no need to sit me at a table, something simple elsewhere is fine'. It's her break during a long day, I'm sure the last thing she wants to do is sit and make small talk with half-drunk strangers.

When I worked in restaurants (or anywhere in fact) the last place I'd want to take my break and half hour to myself is with the customers Hmm

Absolutely the norm and more so the better the photogs reputation.

@realteal

They will be in their feet all day and need a proper meal.

This reasoning doesn’t work for me - so are factory workers! Smile

A lot of whom have subsidised canteens, so...

I'm not sure how normal it is to have it in the contract but it is normal to put some food aside if they'll be there all day.
Similarly with the band and DJ alcohol is usually supplied.
