...and say they remember various posts? It really pisses on my chips! So what?!?!

OP posts:
MyPatronusIsACat · 03/09/2021 17:48
@MyPatronusIsACat Yes! The very best and funniest threads have been off the cuff funny ones.
Any thread that goes to #2 or #3 always feels 'created
I agree with this. ^ I hate it when a supposedly hilarious often clearly fake thread goes to multiple threads (for 'updates...) Wink I actually just end up hiding them to be honest, because I find them so tedious and annoying.

I also find it so bizarre that people get massively invested in them. Some of them are so clearly fabricated.

Geamhradh · 03/09/2021 17:50

They say it to:
a) piss on their territory
b) excuse their namechange to be goady/offensive/talk about shit or piss, kids in showers etc
c) aim for classics like all the other invented rubbish already referenced.

I haven't read the thread but am going to list: snapped and farted? fatballs? Elderly Korean Lady? SpanGran and Mexican House Thief? Puddles? Patio doors?

Some people really need hobbies. I reckon most of the above (especially the ones running to thread after thread) were written by the same person.

Geamhradh · 03/09/2021 17:52

Definitely agree about the off the cuff funny stuff. The one liners, and quick moving chats that are (were) genuinely brilliant.

The crap that the fangirlz leap on salivating for updates just encourages more and more (literal) unbelievable creative writing.

FlumpsAreShit · 03/09/2021 17:53

No Balonz from Frensham Ponds?

I think they think it gives them more cred and less likely to be seen as a troll/tabloid journo.

Geamhradh · 03/09/2021 17:54

@TheQueef

Burrito EKL is worth a read, such a wistful, wholesome thread. The rest aren't that funny.
And ever so slightly racist.
plodalong12 · 03/09/2021 17:55

Does anybody remember the thread about the woman stuck on her kitchen counter for hours because her husband wasn’t home? Something about paracetamol?

Lollypop701 · 03/09/2021 17:57

Sistine chapel

I think I remember, he wouldn't get her a paracetamol and she couldn't possibly get it out of the cup board herself?
GillBiggeloesHair · 03/09/2021 18:02

I am Canadian!

Seriously though, it makes me back space and hide the thread.

Now, that was funny. But the Canadian never intended it.
LimeRedBanana · 03/09/2021 18:10

I’m obviously low brow because I did find snapped and farted funny. Everyone assumed it was a typo but it wasn’t - why the OP had to let us know that she farted remains a mystery to this day.

People reference all those things to show they’re genuine MNers, not trolls on the make. But penis beaker is pointless - it needs to be the threads that didn’t make the tabloids.

ShaunaTheSheep · 03/09/2021 18:12

I was here when it was all green fields and we had a MN WI thread complete with Victoria sponge competitions - the "high sift" being an essential component of a successful bake.

And the booble plate stuck behind the cistern.

And not forgetting the bat. Does anyone still have the link?

phishy · 03/09/2021 18:15

@Justawaterformeplease

I thought the OP made a typo as snapped and farted didn’t make sense in the sentence it was used in but then because everyone found it funny she followed it up with “I have IBS” which had people howling so loud they woke the neighbours up as drinks dribbled down their chins. I didn’t find it remotely funny in the slightest.

This is a good interpretation too! But yes, definitely overrated.

Geamhradh · 03/09/2021 18:17

More bollocks.

I had the actual photo on my old phone. Long gone, sadly.

Oooh, I don't think I am aware of that one!

@Geamhradh I totally agree with your posts...

EmeraldShamrock · 03/09/2021 18:22

Calm down cranks, find a hobby or try some yoga.
It is easy to understand why posters use this information.

TattiePants · 03/09/2021 18:22

A quick google found it @ShaunaTheSheep. Obviously you can’t have the bat without Terry’s cock!

@sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea yes I remember the shed and the fake vagina ! I think that might have been the day the last remnants of my innocence were swept away Grin

PrincessMaryaBolkonskaya · 03/09/2021 18:26

Posters often report to be crying with laughter at threads. I can report the only thread I have ever cried laughing at is snapped and farted.

Screaming in the Sistine Chapel was pretty funny too.

I have never spat my tea out or woke the baby laughing (I’ll admit to not having one - is that used as a fertility humble brag?) at a thread. Sad maybe I need a better sense of humour.

plodalong12 · 03/09/2021 18:26

Something like that! Off to search!

Enough4me · 03/09/2021 18:31

YANBU, it gets boring to see the same references. They could be put on a "reminiscing thread" as then posters can talk about their memories and 'out-memory' each other instead of discussing current events. MN can award a first prize to the one who remembers the most.

Reminds me in work, when someone says how good things used to be and the rose-tinted spectacles come out...Hmm

ScrambledSmegs · 03/09/2021 18:45

Some of the old threads had me in stitches but I suppose if I re-read them I'll be wondering what was so funny. The ones I read in the middle of the night during the years of the non-sleeping children were side-splitting. I remember Honeydragon found a weird glitch in the matrix which meant that we could create 'invisible' threads. Much hilarity ensued, but only amongst the severely sleep-deprived.

I'm pretty sure Angela Hernandez is still funny though.

RandomDent · 03/09/2021 18:47

Angela Hernandez still makes me laugh. Occasionally an Angela Hernandez appears in the wild and I’m quietly giggling, unable to explain.

Sinister Easter Bonnet was possibly the first memorable thread for me.

ShaunaTheSheep · 03/09/2021 18:49

@TattiePants GrinThanksthank you, that's made my day!
