To update you on my invasive neighbour?

I posted a few weeks ago about a neighbour who had sent me a message about my children, complete with photo of the back of my house. I had lots of great advice and sympathy from you all, and I had the thread deleted while pending police intervention.

Update: Police agreed that she had crossed a serious line, especially following her previous damage, trespassing and theft of our property and the fact that we'd laid it out in text that there were boundaries and she was invading our privacy.

They sent a team round to speak to her and tell her to pack it in. The office who came over to see us said they would tell her that if she behaved like this again, they could reasonably arrest her for harassment. They were also going to quietly assess her for vulnerability or mental health needs.

We haven't seen her since, although we know she is there because she slams cupboards a lot. RESULT.

Not sure they should be telling you that!

UtterDoughnut · 01/09/2021 23:10

Possibly not, but it was a concern we raised!

Geamhradh · 01/09/2021 23:12

Absolutely outrageous you were given confidential information like that.

Tulips15 · 01/09/2021 23:14

Hope all stays resolved

Tirediam · 01/09/2021 23:14

I remember OP. Glad they took it seriously

UtterDoughnut · 01/09/2021 23:28

Not challenging anyone - genuine question: Is it confidential if I asked for them to consider whether she was in need of that sort of support, and they said they can assess for that when they speak to her?

No. You raised the subject, they reassured you that they could investigate that. Nothing confidential there at all.

If they knew she had mental health issues, brought up the subject themselves and discussed them with you, they'd be on thinner ice. But you and they have done nothing wrong.

Enough4me · 02/09/2021 00:17

Good update. Hope the police warning works.

Streamside · 02/09/2021 00:29

Surely it's a multi agency response in that the police can't assess you for vulnerability or mental health issues but they have information sharing protocols with partners who do have this responsibility.

Journeynotdestination · 02/09/2021 00:35

Good news!

Shame can’t say the same about the Mumsnet police already jumping on your thread 🙄

DeRigueurMortis · 02/09/2021 00:37

I remember your thread.

I'm glad you've got it resolved.

JacquelineCarlyle · 02/09/2021 00:40

Great news!

Mamanyt · 02/09/2021 00:53

Pity about the slamming cupboards, however, it is, in the end, small potatoes, compared to what you were going through.

BTW, and entirely OT (off topic)...did you know that "cupboard" originally meant an open shelf? It was literally a board to hold cups and other dishes.

me4real · 02/09/2021 01:08

Yay well done OP. xxx

QueenBee52 · 02/09/2021 01:23

I recall your original Thread...

great result for you and your family 🎉

Hydrate · 02/09/2021 01:32

Glad it was resolved.

SeaShoreGalore · 02/09/2021 02:01

Great!

Suzi888 · 02/09/2021 02:12

I recall the thread too. Good outcomeSmile

No, they've done nothing wrong. You've brought up the issue of potential vulnerability and/or MH needs and they've said that they would assess it.
HardStaringBearFromDarkestPeru · 02/09/2021 02:52

Any link to the first thread?

The one that OP had deleted pending police intervention? As stated in the op.

Irrelevant.
phishy · 02/09/2021 04:21

Great news, OP! Hope it stays that way.

AtticusHoysAnus · 02/09/2021 07:19

Absolutely outrageous you were given confidential information like that.

No it isn't.

The end result of any assessment would be.

IWasBornInAThunderstorm · 02/09/2021 07:25

Oh good
