DH thinks this is heinous and doesn't require sugar. I think it makes it so delicious (granted not healthy). Aibu?

I sometimes have x2 weetabix with semi for tea, followed straight away by x2 weetabix with blue top/gold top/Jersey milk and sugar for dessert 😆

This is a serious culture issue between Ireland and England. Irish people tends to go without whilst English Like a good spread of sugar.
I'm not sure if this is reconcilable.

I go for a about 3mm with a soggy milk effect, but could be locked up if it becomes public knowledge.

@SolitaryTree

I have golden syrup on mine! I like to drizzle it on before pouring the milk and then watch the milk miss those bits of weetabix!
This is seriously another level. Where's the witabix ...
Pemba · 02/09/2021 01:25

I suppose it is a bit of a weird food if you think about it. Like if I was given Weetabix for the first time now I probably wouldn't like it. But it's a comfort food from childhood.

Lots of food and drinks are strange really. Like tea with milk. Cheese as well... Fermented cow's milk. Yuck you might think. But I love it!

Hydrate · 02/09/2021 01:54

I love frosted wheats, never have plain wheetabix now, there is no going back!

IncyWincyGrownUp · 02/09/2021 02:00

I want weetabix now. But it’s 2am and there aren’t any in the house.

UndertheCedartree · 02/09/2021 02:02

I do like a sliced banana on top of mine but it is already very sweet so I wouldn't say it needs sugar.

Those putting their weetabix in the microwave, don't they explode all over it? It is rapidly approaching the Great Seasonal Change Over for me when I heat the milk first before adding to my dried fruit covered wheat biscuits. I started off with a few raisins, then added dried apricot and now add aprune and chia seeds. so I'm counting that as my five a day.

Two Weetabix with milk, in an 800W microwave for one minute. Just enough to warm it nicely, with no exploding.

(After all, you don't need to cook it!)

waitingpatientlyforspring · 02/09/2021 07:05

I can't eat weetabix without sugar - I don't eat it very often for this reason!

suspiria777 · 02/09/2021 08:02

Don't weetabix already contain sugar as an added ingredient? I'm almost certain they do...

LBirch02 · 02/09/2021 08:06

YANBU at all OP - much tastier with sugar and warm milk

suspiria777 · 02/09/2021 08:06

Yes, they do.

Ingredients
Wholegrain Wheat (95%), Malted Barley Extract, Sugar, Salt, Niacin, Iron, Riboflavin (B2), Thiamin (B1), Folic Acid

(Malted barley extract is a form of sugar)

Disfordarkchocolate · 02/09/2021 08:13

I love Weetabix and have it most days, with only one gram of sugar because I'm on a diet. Lots of lovely iron because it's fortified.

Angel2702 · 02/09/2021 08:19

Always had sugar or jam on weetabix. Best combo is sugar and raspberries.

lazylinguist · 02/09/2021 08:23

Try is with elmlea on top followed by sugar.

Weetabix is horrible mush, but it's certainly less horrible than Elmlea Envy

thetaleunfolds · 02/09/2021 08:50

I have to have something sweet on mine. I usually go for a dash of maple syrup 😋

Ajoh · 02/09/2021 08:56

I know it tastes better with sugar but I also know my teeth weren't great to start with so, my hands are tied

HarlanPepper · 02/09/2021 09:00

Weetabix is the taste of my childhood and it stands for everything I despise. I would never eat it willingly now whatever was on it.

Netty909 · 02/09/2021 09:19

I used to have it with butter, thickly spread on both sides. Otherwise it’s too dry. Or just a little bit of milk and sugar in microwave so that all the milk is absorbed and can be easily sliced. Must not be mushy!

Livpool · 02/09/2021 09:23

I put sugar on Shredded Wheat so YANBU 🤷🏼‍♀️

DrCoconut · 02/09/2021 12:28

When I could eat weetabix I had it without sugar.

LittleGwyneth · 02/09/2021 13:39

LTB

Hydrate · 04/09/2021 04:08

When I did have Shredded Wheat, it was with hot milk & a light sprinkle of sugar.
