2 adults and 1 or 2 small children.

Please include all things such as laundry/households items e.g. kitchen roll, toilet roll etc.

cultkid · 01/09/2021 12:34

Sainsbury £40
M&S £40
Local shops £30

namechange7865 · 01/09/2021 13:00

@Whammyyammy £170 for 2 adults a week?

Rhinothunder · 01/09/2021 13:12

£250 to £300

Rhinothunder · 01/09/2021 13:14

That's not including alcohol as my husband buys wine by the crate online. We are mostly vegetarian .

Thecathouse · 01/09/2021 13:20

£20 a week, 2 adults 1 child.

But with a big caveat - we eat a veg heavy diet and grow all of our own veg and fruit (the glut gets frozen over the winter months), have chickens for eggs and keep a goat for milk - this wouldn't be feasible for most people who don't live somewhere with a bit of land

So our £20 goes on small amounts of meat, the toilet paper and other household bits and pieces. Toddler has been out of nappies for 18 months so don't have those sort of expenses.

We would likely need £50 a week otherwise

andadietcoke · 01/09/2021 13:21

2 adults and DTs 8yo
Gousto @ £48
Supermarket normally about £50-60 includes other meals and packed lunches for the girls. Neither DH nor I drink alcohol.

billiebeeme · 01/09/2021 13:35

We have 2 adults 4yr old and almost 2yr old.

Usually I'd say about £100 on average. Some weeks more or less if need laundry stuff, toiletries etc. I pretty much buy what I want, I cld really cut it down. We probably spend close to £20 on fruit and veg. At least £20 on absolute junk, crisps, sweets, cakes etc.
I do get 15% discount at Morrison's though so more likely it would be £115 for us.

IveGotASongThatllGetOnYNerves · 01/09/2021 13:37

Too much! It's about 150 a week for 4 adults and a cat.

Karlee30 · 01/09/2021 13:47

At least £100 a week just for food. I often shop for toiletries, laundry powder, cleaning stuff etc in b&m, home bargains, boots etc separately so that bumps it up too. 2 adults & 2 children. Plus a small dog who doesn't cost us much at all tbf.

LeafOfTruth · 01/09/2021 13:51

3 adults: £120-£150 per week plus about an extra £50 per month on a one-off order for stuff that's trickier to get or cheaper to bulk buy (wholesale nuts and seeds and flours etc).

Auntienumber8 · 01/09/2021 14:04

About 120 per week

3 adults plus DS GF eats here a couple of times a week. DH orders shampoo and cat food in bulk twice a year so that’s separate.

CattyMcNips · 01/09/2021 18:25

£100 a week, we recently changed from Ocado to Waitrose and it's so much cheaper.

ButDoYouAvocado · 01/09/2021 19:01

About £250 but we don’t blow money on many things and enjoy eating well. It’s fun rather than function to us although that wasn’t the case a few years ago.

ButDoYouAvocado · 01/09/2021 19:01

Sorry that’s for 4 of us two adults, 17 year okd and enormous tank like 15 year old 😂

smith5715 · 01/09/2021 19:05

£120 approx for 2 adults, toddler and dog.
Keep trying to cut down but it's hard!

Basilandparsleyandmint · 01/09/2021 19:05

Between 600/700 per month. This includes all food for breakfast, lunch and tea. Plus cleaning products for house/ personal cleaning stuff I.e deodorant- shower gel.

It may seem a lot but my kids eat adult portions and snacks. I don’t do many extravagant meals so would love to know how people keep it down. Don’t buy lots of alcohol either. 3 bottles a week maybe and a few beers no spirits etc x

Ragwort · 01/09/2021 19:11

About £120 a week - three adults plenty of alcohol no pets. I don't spend much on cleaning products or toiletries... my main extravagance is decent ground coffee.

ididitsocanyou · 01/09/2021 19:13

About £500 per month for all household goods, all meals and two teenagers me and DH. No booze included in that but includes toiletries.

Hadenoughcrap2 · 01/09/2021 19:18

3 adults, 1 older teen, 6 dogs, 2 cats, and Koi.
£20 pw on animals, inc all treats.
Between £40 & £100 pw for all food, toiletries, laundry, cleaning stuff, depending on how much non food items I'm buying as I tend to buy in bulk, eg once every 4 months I will buy 100 toilet rolls for around £32. Another week, I might spend £20 on washing powder, fabric conditioner, etc.

The weeks I'm not buying any (or just very little) non food items my shop comes to around £40-50.

I would say over the course of 1 month it would average out at around £360 pm for everything including animal foods.

notyourmummy · 01/09/2021 19:20

£30-40 a week for 2 adults and 2 children. One child has school dinners though so only 3 pack ups to cater for Mon-Fri.

ConkerBonkers · 01/09/2021 19:27

Notyourmummy thank goodness there is someone else who doesn't spend megabucks on the weekly food shop :)

Hadenoughcrap2 · 01/09/2021 19:28

I forgot, I tend to buy meat in bulk from local butcher so will buy whole lamb for £150, or 5kg ribeye steaks for similar cost as their meat is locally reared and slaughtered and is free range/grass fed. It works out much cheaper this way as I get, eg, really good quality lamb for an average of £8-9 per kg.

We don't eat as much meat anymore so that works out at about £300 to £400 per year max, which is around £6 to £8 per week on top of my previous figures.

Giving an average spend of £380-£390 per month.

Hadenoughcrap2 · 01/09/2021 19:31

Also includes any alcohol and I cook pretty much everything from scratch, so no convenience or pre-prepared food.
