Two adults and a hungry toddler, we spend £60-£80 a week. But if we're feeling a bit lazy and pop to the local Tesco express instead of doing a whole shop once main meals are gone it does go up a a bit!

TwinkleToeMatilda · 31/08/2021 12:41

90-100 a week for 2 adults and nothing goes to waste. That doesn’t include my trips to the shop every week to get dog food for my massive dog!

fassnk · 31/08/2021 12:41

2 adults, 2 year old and 1 dog, spend abouy £90 per week

gwenneh · 31/08/2021 12:42
@gwenneh £350 3p/w! Do you live in lobster and caviar?!
We spend about £120. This included an organic fruit and veg box and an organic meat box. Rest of shop is at Sainsbury’s or Waitrose.
Ha no. We have fairly boring menus. It would probably appall people.

About £40/day is fairly accurate for us, as mentioned above family of 5 and 2 pets.

I love to cook and meal plan but both DH and I work full time (DH more than full time, really) and there are at least four days per week where there are extra activities that eat up time in the evenings -- tutoring, swimming, hobbies, etc. So we pay a high price to get good food that is still convenient.

It'll be slightly less in term time with the DC having both breakfast and lunch at school. My youngest is at nursery and gets breakfast and lunch included there too so that is something. But it's still very expensive and prices have shot right up (at least an extra £50/pw since 2020).

About £35 for just me.

Alicenwonderland · 31/08/2021 12:43

Three adults, two children and it's about £130 a week. I'm a single mum so two of those adults are 18 and 20 and eat like horses! I shop at Aldi and home bargains for toiletries ect.

ChurchlightJane · 31/08/2021 12:43

£170 per week. Two adult veggies, two adult vegans, two large dogs.

Sewaccidentprone · 31/08/2021 12:43

Think around £80 for 2 adults & 2 cats. Includes veg box weekly delivery and delivered milk bottles.

But doesn’t inc toilet rolls - Who Gives A Crap box every 4/5 mths.

MrsWooster · 31/08/2021 12:47

About £150 for two adults, two kids 8 and 11.
That includes £25 on wine to my great irritation but not school dinners in term time, which is probably about another 25.

Lumpyfloor · 31/08/2021 12:50

About £180 a week. 2 adults, 2 teens and a pre-teen.

Blankscreen · 31/08/2021 12:50

We budget £1000 a month for food

That's for 3 adults, 2 DC(7 and 11) and 2 dogs

DSS (17) lives with us and eats soooooo much.

I really would like to reduce it but we both work full time and I I spend quite a bit cutting corners and just don't feel like I have the head space to change how I do things.

BackAwayFatty · 31/08/2021 12:51

2 adults, 1 child 6 days per week, 2 children 3 days per week. £60 per week if I meal plan & cut out most junk food. Kids & DP eat lunch out weekdays. Tend to splurge another £20 a week on fizzy & junk though Grin

Angliski · 31/08/2021 12:51

About £120 for 2 adults and one 20 month old. This includes nappies but not cat food or big rolls/ cleaning products. We bulk buy these from local co op every 3 months or so- so never run out of loo roll, kitchen roll wipes, and also whole foods like rice, coconut milk, oats and lentils. Done this for years (imagine smugness during loo roll gate) and the pet food sent via zoo plus once a quarter ( about £100 a quarter) and veg box £15 per week.

Shop has def gone up. It’s part brexit inflation and part baby obsession with fruity pouches.

bigdinkydoodah · 31/08/2021 12:53

£50 - £100 per week for 2 adults all in.

EatSprayGlove · 31/08/2021 12:54

We were talking about this last night during secret spenders. My husband thinks it's about £100 and I pointed out we have spent £250 this week but I know some weeks we only spend about £90 for 2 adults 2 pre teens and a cat. I reckon it averages at about £180 but that doesn't include take aways/eating out which is about £80 every 2-3 months on average.

Farevalah · 31/08/2021 12:55

Around £250 PW.
DH, me, DS13 and DD who'll be going back to uni next month. Plus a very fussy dog.

Trying to cut down but it's very difficult!

LittleBipper · 31/08/2021 12:56

We do about £100 a week for 2 adults, one 8 year old and 2 cats. £60 main shop from Ocado, cat stuff from PaH or Wilko's, top ups and drink from Waitrose, Coop or Lidl depending on where we are.

HalzTangz · 31/08/2021 12:56

@HereWeGoAgain24

2 adults and 1 or 2 small children.

Ifyouarehappyandyouknowit21 · 31/08/2021 12:56

2x adults/2x young children - about £130

Itawapuddytat · 31/08/2021 12:57

About £100/week (2 adults, 2 children and 1 cat)

Itawapuddytat · 31/08/2021 12:59

*Pre-teen eats at school so another £15/week

idontlikealdi · 31/08/2021 12:59

£200 per week ish for 2 adults and 2 kids including milkman, simply cook, cleaning stuff etc.

Do is another £40 on top because of specialist diet

OnceTheyDid · 31/08/2021 13:05

Way too much - I hate cooking and I'm disabled.

I eat out a lot. This weekend we ate out Saturday night, Sunday lunch and dinner. 2 adults.

Aside from eating out we spend £100 a week on food and everything else.
