Center parcs - how would you split the cost of a lodge?

Room A: Single parent with 3 kids
Room B: Single adult (may possibly have one of the three kids in with them)
Room C: Single adult

For a three bedroom lodge, would you just split the cost per room, so a third each per adult and completely disregard the kids? No bitter feelings about anything, we've just never done it before and seek advice from people who have! Smile

3 bed lodge? I’d have 2 single adults share a twin room and probably split 40:30:30

Yes, 2 bed lodge! Unfortunately one of the adults wouldn't want to share with another as she sleeps badly, otherwise that would have been an option!

Sorry, 3 bed!

Three bed and an adult in each? I’d expect to split 3 ways, I think, if the other adults were happy with that. Potentially a bit unfair on the adult who might need to share with a child that’s not theirs, but in my family I’d expect this to be a grandparent maybe who was happy to do it.

toomuchlaundry · 30/08/2021 13:14

How are you funding food/activity expenses?

MoonbeamSprinkles · 30/08/2021 13:15

Depends on your relationship.

We regularly go away in this configuration with my sister who has children and other sister who doesn’t.
We would split it 3 ways.

I would be less likely to want to subsidise my friends children though, especially if I was having to share a room with one.

ChocBeforeCock · 30/08/2021 13:16

Whenever I have gone on a group holiday it’s a pay per room. In your case I would also do this, as long as the Room B adult is happy with this given they might have a kid in with them.

SheWoreYellow · 30/08/2021 13:16

Where is the third child sleeping?

But basically, each adult means that another bedroom is needed, so they split the cost three ways.
You’d need to weight the grocery shopping, obv.

NoSquirrels · 30/08/2021 13:16

If they didn’t want to share and split 3-bed lodge 3 ways, could go for a larger 4-bed lodge and then expect to pay per room so as single parent plus children my bill would be 50% of the total cost, which would be pricey!

Northpolesouthpole · 30/08/2021 13:16

@toomuchlaundry I expect each family "subgroup" Blush will pay their own way. Sorry, that word is hilarious!

What age are the 3 kids in with the mum in room A? Didn’t think that any of the CPs rooms would take that many people?

I think we’d split it equally between the adults and ignore the kids. Or at a push as Bea suggested 40:30:30.

Northpolesouthpole · 30/08/2021 13:17

Just to be clear, I'm one of the single adults and happy to split three ways! Was just wondering what the general etiquette was. Replies so far have been really helpful. Thank you!

When I stayed in a three bed (albeit 10+ years ago) the third room was tiny.

Whoever is in a tiny room and sharing a bathroom needs a discount.

billy1966 · 30/08/2021 13:18

Three ways as per a bedroom each probably.

Expensive break for the single adult possibly.

ShinyHappySummers · 30/08/2021 13:19

I'd split three ways.
Why on earth over complicate things?

ShinyHappySummers · 30/08/2021 13:20

Although my single friend has asked us to pay 2/3 before. So per adult.

Lou98 · 30/08/2021 13:20

I would split it three ways personally, saves complicating things. Then each pay their own food etc when there

toomuchlaundry · 30/08/2021 13:21

How old are the 3 DC. In my experience of the lodges (especially the ‘cheaper’ ones) there isn’t much room apart from the beds, so not sure how you would fit 3 in a room plus adult

Northpolesouthpole · 30/08/2021 13:21

Kids are 1 DD age 8, 1 DD age 6 and 1 DS age 20 months. Youngest DS will need to go in with the parent obviously!

Split equally 3 ways but Room A adult to buy the food.

Sceptre86 · 30/08/2021 13:23

As each adult gets a room I would split 3 ways in terms of accommodation, food and activities would be another matter.

234Pepperplant · 30/08/2021 13:24

You are unlikely to fit four people in one room of a standard Center Parcs lodge - they’re not big. Pretty much a bed and a foot or two walking space round the edge of it. Wardrobes don’t have doors or have concertina doors to fit them in. No chairs or anything in the room, sometimes a tiny stool and a shelf that projects a couple of inches. They are engineered to be as small as they can get away with.

Perching · 30/08/2021 13:24

Accom cost split pay per room
Food split per mouths to feed

bookh · 30/08/2021 13:24

I would usually say three ways, but, center Parcs numbers...

So if the single parent and three children went alone, no way you would be allowed to book a one bed. It would be a two bed. So what's the price of that?

Then what's the difference between that and the three bed?

As @toomuchlaundry says you will struggle to get four in one of those rooms.

I would say if the adults won't share you need a four bed. Then they split the difference between a two and four bed between them because they are the ones wanting a room each.

BonnyandPoppy · 30/08/2021 13:25

Centre parts bedrooms are really small. Not seen any that could fit 3 kids and an adult in.
