Center parcs - how would you split the cost of a lodge?

Room A: Single parent with 3 kids
Room B: Single adult (may possibly have one of the three kids in with them)
Room C: Single adult

For a three bedroom lodge, would you just split the cost per room, so a third each per adult and completely disregard the kids? No bitter feelings about anything, we've just never done it before and seek advice from people who have! Smile

Honestly no way will you fit more than 2 people in a room at centre parcs.

It will need to be 2 people per room or someone will need to sleep on the sofa in the living room.

I would split the cost 3 ways.

PicaK · 30/08/2021 14:37

Make sure you look up cost of 4 bed because sometimes it's not that much more.

Peanutsandchilli · 30/08/2021 14:38

If you booked a hotel, you'd book a room each and pay per room. I think that's the way to do it. Split into thirds.

coffeeandjuice · 30/08/2021 14:47

Agree with @BonnyandPoppy, it'll be very tight, at all possible, to fit 4 in a room. Given that person A is willing to attempt this suggests she really can't afford more than one room and is hoping for a split 3 equal ways.

If the other two room occupiers could bare it, it would be a much more generous offer to give eldest two children a bed each in their rooms. Would make the whole trip more pleasant tor kids and the mum.

Datsandcogs · 30/08/2021 14:51

Single parent pays half and the others a quarter each or split the other 30% to the not sharing and 20% to the one with the child in with them.

Quitelikeacatslife · 30/08/2021 14:55

If you can afford it I'd look at 4 bed and split 50/25/25 , much comfier for all and usually 2 bedrooms separate so mum with kids out of way of adults. If adults were kind and could afford it would do 40/30/30 or 3 ways (I'd prefer to pay that than share with child , even my own lol)

Ruddyknackered · 30/08/2021 15:02

I'm not sure Centerparcs would allow you to book a 3 bedroom lodge for that many people. You have to give details of occupants and ages when you book.

SheldonandAmy · 30/08/2021 15:11

I'd split it 50% for the single parent and 25% each for the other two.

unlikelytobe · 30/08/2021 15:13

I presume you're all good pals or close family because not all adults want to share their sleeping space with a child that is not theirs. Draw lots as to which adult gets the childfree space? Split 3 ways.

Sally872 · 30/08/2021 15:16

We normally split per room. Apart from one year when student sibling had a room to herself we split the cost a but differently so she paid a bit less eg half the amount of a couple sharing. This was because she had less disposable income at that point rather than fairest split.

MeadowHay · 30/08/2021 15:16

Impossible to fit more than two people + travel cot in one room. We went to Whinfell recently and DH and I shared a double bed and 3yr old DC slept in a CP travel cot at the foot end of the bed and tbh that was a squeeze. You could barely walk around it to get into our bed or the bathroom or open the wardrobe it was a very tight fit, no way could anyone else have fitted in unless you put 3 people in one double bed which sounds...interesting.

WhyOhWhyOhWhyyyy · 30/08/2021 15:24

It depends on the lodge. We stayed in an exclusive lodge and the room I shared with DD was a really good size, could easily have fit another child in the bed (two singles pushed together) and a travel cot in the room.

I’d also say split the cost of the accommodation 3 ways but the parent of the 3 children pays more for food.

Scottishskifun · 30/08/2021 15:25

We split per room and then food is a group shop with cost per number in the family.

We tend to do it differently if it's single friend coming along with couples/kids (usually for a ski break etc) and then it's done cost per adult for accommodation to make it fair but that doesn't apply if all single adult Occupancy!

Tossblanket · 30/08/2021 15:28

Life's too short to worry about making everything perfectly fair to the percent.

There's 6 of them and so a 3 bed would accommodate them in numbers.
SarahMused · 30/08/2021 15:32

Assuming the parent is able to share with all their children and has the largest room, the second adult has the second room to themselves and the third adult has a small room I would go 40/35/25. If the second adult has to share with one child I would go 50/25/25. There are websites that will calculate a fair split depending on room size and amount of communal space. You just put in the details and it works it out for you.

PotteringAlong · 30/08/2021 15:33

If I was the single adult having to sleep with someone else’s child then I wouldn’t want to pay 1/3…

I would go:

3/6 for parent and children
1/6 for single adult sharing a room
2/6 for single adult for own room

TheWoleb · 30/08/2021 15:35

This is the sort of regular holidays I have with friends. We just split the cost evenly between the adults.

We're all friends. Have been for many years. We dont care if we've for the biggest room or the smallest with a shared bathroom. That's just for sleeping in. We're all spending the same amount of time in the lodge, handing out and playing with the kids. We always just split it evenly between us.

Nowthisisme · 30/08/2021 15:39

When we go away we split accommodation and food costs according to parts. An adult is 1 part and a child is half a part. Babies / toddlers don’t count. Eg
Family 1 - 2 parents, 2 kids = 3 parts
Single friend = 1part

Total = 4 parts.
It works very well for us.

Coronado2 · 30/08/2021 15:54

I'd split per room, so if one of the children goes in room 2 with adult 2 then adult 2 pays for half of that room plus their own room.

Soontobe60 · 30/08/2021 15:56

@bookh

I would usually say three ways, but, center Parcs numbers...

So if the single parent and three children went alone, no way you would be allowed to book a one bed. It would be a two bed. So what's the price of that?

Then what's the difference between that and the three bed?

As @toomuchlaundry says you will struggle to get four in one of those rooms.

I would say if the adults won't share you need a four bed. Then they split the difference between a two and four bed between them because they are the ones wanting a room each.

I’ve just done a quick comparison - a 3 bed was £100 more than a 2 bed of the same cabin in the same 3 night weekend. £1265 v £1165.
Soontobe60 · 30/08/2021 15:58

A 4 bed for the same as my last post would be £1649

AnnaSW1 · 30/08/2021 15:59

Split3 ways

Member589500 · 30/08/2021 16:01

After many many CP breaks with family we fixed on 1 share per adult and 0.5 per child. Babies in cots don’t count.
So single parent is 2. Other adults are 1.
Split 50/25/25.
But if the singles are feeling generous agree with 40:30:30
