Laurence Fox causing scaremonging and false information over Covid jabs

Suetully · 28/08/2021 10:59

He stated he is ''‘Following the tragic death of BBC journalist Lisa Shaw from vaccine-related complications, and the unending lies about the efficacy and safety of the vaccine, I will not be sending my children to school until I have received a cast-iron guarantee that my children will not be vaccinated without the consent of both parents for a disease that has negligible chance of serious illness to them.‘We are in the middle of a mass delusion and it is time for people to wake up. Children’s lives are at risk.

‘However, I fully support the provision of vaccination for children in vulnerable groups with fully informed parental consent.’

A Department of Health spokesman said: ‘No decisions have been made on vaccinating 12 to 15-year-olds and it is inaccurate to suggest otherwise. Ministers have not yet received further advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation on this cohort.’

Now AIBU to be angry that he is misleading the public into thinking that the schools/govt are going to start vaccinating the kids without consent as nowhere was this ever stated as fact. And the govt have issues statements online to counteract the false reports online that this was not the case for under 16s and that the laws have not changed. Yet he is spreading false information rather than doing his research.

I see @hamstersarse is another one who doesn't actually understand what freedom of expression aka "free speech" means.

NoYOUbekind · 28/08/2021 13:55

He is such a cock and I would bet my house that this latest outburst is because he thinks the children's mother will give permission for the vaccine. So essentially using his platform to control her. He is a twat. My admiration for BPiper has risen hugely.

hamstersarse · 28/08/2021 13:55

@VladmirsPoutine

He's an out and out racist. He really shouldn't be given the oxygen of publicity but of course all the broadcasters will be falling over themselves to have him come on to spew his views.
It does depend on your definition of racism and interesting that it’s deemed ok to just state that as fact (and not be censored - an example of Right Think)

The accusation of racism towards LF comes from his criticism of taking the knee.

hamstersarse · 28/08/2021 13:56

Do tell
JustAnotherPoster00 · 28/08/2021 13:56

@BrozTito

How many more times. Private companies hosting who and what they want is not 'censorship', spoilt fools. Imagine having to explain the free market to right wingers.
It's like they honestly don't have a clue how a free market works and any platform not allowing their nonsense brings out the cries of mUh FrEe sPeEcH, fucking idiots Grin
YouMeandtheSpew · 28/08/2021 13:57

God is this pointless racist still around? He’s such a waste of skin.

SusieBob · 28/08/2021 13:57

"Of course you feel it was fantastic to ban Trump

Of course you think it’s totally fine to hand this power to a commercial company

Even Cambridge Analytics didn’t bother you 🤷‍♀️

I hope you always agree with what Facebook and Twitter decide is The Right Way To Think"

FFS grow up. I didn't think it was "fantastic" he was banned. He deserved to be. That difference I accept may be too difficult for you to grasp. And you have no idea my opinion on CA or SM in general. Here's a clue for you though - I'm not on FB or Twitter.

The fact is though - the one which you are clearly struggling to grasph - is that nobody has "free speech" in a private space, be that social media, in a shop or indeed in your house.

Clocktopus · 28/08/2021 13:59

possible long term side effects which are unknown

Side effects from vaccines don't suddenly show up several years later because vaccines don't work that way - a vaccine enters your body, primes your immune system, and then dissipates, there are no traces of it left after a few weeks. Side effects show up relatively quickly after the vaccine is given and even serious side effects will show up within those couple of weeks.

SusieBob · 28/08/2021 13:59

On the actual topic, I think 12 year olds are certainly old enough to get a vaccine without parental consent. Why should a kid suffer because their parents are idiots?

hamstersarse · 28/08/2021 13:59

@CorrBlimeyGG

That’s actually fake news and you know it

I'm aware of OH requirements for NHS front line HCPs. Hep B is mandatory in certain roles.

Are you OK? You don't normally make such bizarre, baseless posts.

The accusation of racism towards LF comes from his criticism of taking the knee.

Well that, and leading calls for people to boycott Sainsbury’s for marking Black History Month, and a number of other incidents.

you will have somebody come along soon to tell you but this is a new vaccine and was developed quickly so they don't yet know...

Is that what we want in the UK?

I think it has to be with regard to a covid vaccine which has so little trust capital in some sections of society that you risk making school an unwitting battle zone and which is so close to a tipping point on risk and benefits for children of this age - that comparisons to life saving vaccines seems more rhetoric than logistics.

Yes, and neither of those things actually mean you are racist
YouokHun · 28/08/2021 14:07

I expect this is much more personal for LF. I have a friend who worked closely with him and said that is vicious about BP, calling her names and constantly going on about how “common” she is; really nasty stuff. He is a very angry man and what he’s most angry about is the fact that BP, despite her less privileged start is far, far brighter than him, as illustrated by her silence about him. This is partly a stick to beat her with.

At the end of the day he’s just a spoilt, entitled man who is a bit dim. There are lots of them but sadly this one’s got a public profile.

megletthesecond · 28/08/2021 14:08

If he was all over my fb I'd be reporting his comments and removing the daft friends that shared it.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 28/08/2021 14:15

There will be plenty of Lawrence Fox fans on MN these days OP, some posters having fallen so far down the anti trans rabbit hole that they don't realise how right wing theyve become as they start calling everything they don't agree with woke

derxa · 28/08/2021 14:17

I've had a horrific reaction to being double jabbed and by coincidence spoke to someone who has had the same. I'm not an anti vaxxer by any means but I have paid a heavy price.
Laurence Fox has gone off the rails. I don't know what he's playing at. But he's got a right to an opinion.

conkersarebonkers · 28/08/2021 14:17

UK Gov, regarding flu vaccinations in school this year:

"In secondary schools, some older children may be sufficiently mature to provide their own consent if their parents have not returned a consent form and they express a wish to have a vaccine on the day of the session. The team will speak to the child and will be responsible for assessing the appropriateness of administering the vaccine. This will include making every effort to contact the parent to seek their verbal consent and/or an assessment of the individual child’s capacity to self-consent, where appropriate."

www.gov.uk/government/publications/flu-vaccination-in-schools/flu-vaccination-programme-2021-to-2022-briefing-for-schools#frequently-asked-questions

Not quite as clear-cut as in Scotland, but definitely seems possible for a secondary age pupil to get a vaccination without parental consent in England too.

Why would anyone be taking any notice of some mouthy actor, does he think that all people sitting at home are morons, and no nothing about anything, and can't make any decisions for themselves.

Really? Can you point out one solitary gender critical poster on MN who is a fan of Lawrence Fox.

I agree he does have a right to an opinion as we all do, what he shouldn't have is a platform to air his often racist right wing trope view out all over us, and hopefully will be banned for Covid misinformation from all platforms, I'm sure GB News, the daily mail and breitbart will still air this type of nonsense

The accusation of racism towards LF comes from his criticism of taking the knee.

And the rest! The QT appearance, yesterday's removed Tweet linking taking the knee with rape, the Sainsbury's Black History month tantrum.

He thinks it's amusing to play at it. Whether he believes anything at all is doubtful. He's so silly and egocentric that I can't imagine he truly believes much.

Just a prat with a platform.
