because my mother thinks i am.

its not until june, i can't really afford it but i will pay for it by budgeting like mad over the next 6 months (its not until June)

my children will be either staying with my parents whom they see daily and stay over all the time or with my brother and his girlfriend and his two children.
(sounds a bit iresponsible not to have this all properly arranged but its really far ahead and i only agreed to go today)

either way they will be perfectly safe abnd happy.

i will be taking them camping a couple of times during the year, so they will have a holiday as well.

i have never been abroad, i never do anythign for myself and alwasy put my kids first.

am i really such a bad person for taking one weekend out just for me?

(by the way, if you say yes then i will cry)

Oh yes go for it. A whole three day holiday with no one to worry about except yourself, sounds absolutely fabulous YANBU at all.

NKF · 02/12/2007 14:13

Lucky you. I ignored the bit about about unreasonable because I was so envious. Just go. Don't even think about it. Go.

LadyMcArgue · 02/12/2007 15:07

YABU - I should go and you should mind my kid.

YumzieMumzieLaura · 02/12/2007 16:05

GO and enjoy yourself! Your kids will be fine with either your mum or your brother..Everyone needs some "me time" now and again. Im jealous.. wish I was going!!

tribpot · 02/12/2007 16:27

Just tell your mum you need to be living' la vida loca, even if only for three days

Sounds fab, just the thought of getting on a plane without anyone else to worry about is making me .

ENJOY. You are doing a bloody good job and should be rewarded!

JinglyJangly · 02/12/2007 19:38

How old are your kids Mamazon? If they are under 3 then YABU but any older then YANBU.

3 nights isn't long but I personally would worry that if I needed to get home quick (from Spain) it would not be an easy task but that is because my DS has severe eczema and only me & DH know how to apply his creams properly - he is only 2.

nutcracker · 02/12/2007 19:40

Mamazon, my dads response when I said that I was going on my friends hen weekend in spain was 'you can't, your a mother'

As it is I am not going as I can't afford it, but I would have otherwise. You absolutly must go.

amytheearwaxbanisher · 02/12/2007 19:41

oh you must go !and have lots of fun

MAMAZONtopofsanta · 02/12/2007 19:45

DS will be 7.9 and DD 3.9

Ds has SN but he is happy to stay with my mum and brother and i am (relativly) happy with them looking after him for 3 days.

i have had such a crap year i just think i deserve some time to myself really. as i say i never do anything just for me so it will be nice to be pampered a bit.

i do feel incredibly guilty about the prospect of going away without them though.

JinglyJangly · 02/12/2007 19:49

Go and enjoy it. Its only 3 nights -hardly the same as 2 weeks in Barbados without the kids.

DarthVader · 02/12/2007 19:49

Not unreasonable

MuthaHoHoHubbard · 02/12/2007 22:32

DO IT!! not unreasonable in the slighest. I went to magaluf (of all places!!) for a week without my dc's earlier this year with my two friends. We basically just sat in the sun and got drunk but it was fab!

You need time out to be you and it's not as if you are leaving the kids in the back yard for a week on their own!

LoveAngelGabriel · 03/12/2007 08:40

YANBU! Go! It will be excellent fun. If you ahve the opportunities and good childcare, why shouldn't you ejoy yourself? I have been on girly weekend breaks to New York (twice), Barcelona and Paris since my DS was born, and couldn't give two hoots if others disapprove. Don't let your mum drag you down. You'll have loads of fun and come back feeling rejuvenated (and hopefully slightly hungover ).
