I dropped DH off at the pub earlier & he has just phoned and asked me to pick him up. The problem is DS (2) has just fallen asleep and is full of a cold so I really don't want to wake him up to drag him out in this weather.

I told DH to get a taxi or walk, it's about a 20 minute walk, so 5 minutes in a taxi - he went off on one and told me he has spent all his money so can't afford a taxi and won't walk because its raining .

He reckons it will be ok to leave DS asleep in his cot for 5 minutes (this is how long it will take to get to pub & back) and I told him under no circumstances am I leaving a 2yo alone in the house.

He is such a cheeky sod sometimes. He will just have to walk home right? AIBU?

hildegard · 01/12/2007 16:49

I wouldn't wake up my ds either, or leave him alone . YANBU

pooka · 01/12/2007 16:49

Let him walk.

Plinkyplonk · 01/12/2007 16:50

Abso bloody not unreasonable. He is the unreasonable one.

I don't even leave mine in the house alone to put the rubbish out I just put it outside the stable door and wait for dh to do it the next day.

JinglyJangly · 01/12/2007 16:50

He won't walk because its raining . I guess he will be there all night then.

If you have cash at home you could pay the taxi when he gets there.

Don't really see why he shouldn't walk though, unless it's really bad rain (unless he's caught DS's cold)

BettySpaghetti · 01/12/2007 16:51

YANBU.

Hes got legs - use them!

MaeWest · 01/12/2007 16:51

YANBU - he can walk, even if it is raining.

NAB3littlemonkeys · 01/12/2007 16:51

yanbu

your hubby is an idiot, leaving a child alone?

JinglyJangly · 01/12/2007 16:52

I haven't got any cash on me at all so I can't pay the taxi driver - I suppose DH could ask driver to take him to nearest cashpoint couldn't he?

ElasticAnimal · 01/12/2007 16:53

noooooo
make him walk

Maidamess · 01/12/2007 16:55

I hope you told him he was a big baby!

amytheearwaxbanisher · 01/12/2007 16:55

let him walk anything could happen in your house in five minutes!

JinglyJangly · 01/12/2007 16:57

I just phoned my FiL and asked him if he would pick DH from the pub and he will.

What is it with men and rain? They really don't like getting their hair wet do they? - bloody wimp.

OP posts:
MrsLynetteScavo · 01/12/2007 17:00

Tell him you'll pay for the taxi when he gets home.

amytheearwaxbanisher · 01/12/2007 17:00

id have left him there

nametaken · 01/12/2007 18:51

I'd have said I can't because I've had a drink myself in the house.

NKF · 01/12/2007 18:52

Why can't he walk for 20 minutes?

kittylouise · 01/12/2007 18:55

Now he will probably sulk.

Lazy sod. 20 minute walk is nothing.

nametaken · 01/12/2007 18:59

Have I got this straight?

You dropped him off out of the goodness of your heart.

You stayed at home and cared for your child while your hubby went to the pub with his mates.

Your hubby is annoyed with you because you won't give him something he wants (a lift)

HELLO [angry}

PestoMonster · 01/12/2007 19:02

Tell him his legs will drop off from lack of use. Lazy sod! So what if it's raining. Pathetic, pathetic. He will dry out when he's home again..

bohemianbint · 01/12/2007 20:37

Pick him up? Pay for his taxi? Wipe his blimmin' backside as well? No chance - please do not pick him up!

Elasticwoman · 01/12/2007 20:44

You know you are not being at all unreasonable. He is being unbelievably immature and irresponsible (is he very young?) and I hope you will remember this incident next time he wants a lift to the pub.

DynamicKermitsNanny · 01/12/2007 20:55

His own fault that he's spent all his money TBH so he should walk !
