Does anyone else just not like Jason Manford?
I used to quite like him but the last little while he's really started to annoy me and I cant really say exactly why.
Obviously I dont know him personally, Im just talking about as a tv presenter/comedian. I cannot help but roll my eyes and reach for the remote when I hear his voice - am I alone?

Was never here nor there about him but can’t stand Jimmy Carr and his cackling laugh
He’s never been funny nor jack Whitehall

Actually there’s a few including that program Mrs Brown’s Boys which makes me want to slit my wrists

Terhou · 13/08/2021 00:07

I liked him when he supported a charity stall I was helping to run.

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 13/08/2021 00:14

I don't like him either. He's got some dodgy morals based on his history of how he's treated women too.

I used to follow him in social media but unfollowed after I got sick of the whole "I'm just an ordinary guy who loves my fans" crap, always posting screenshots when he donated to charity, which yes is a good thing to do but I wonder if he would have done it without the need for wanting praise for it

youshallnotpass9 · 13/08/2021 00:15

I like him, but then I like a lot of comedians and then see a show and discover, that I like them while presenting, just not when its just them.

Jimmy Carr is one, Sara Pasco is another.

I do love Greg Davis though and just got my fingers crossed he is a decent as he comes across as

Agreed, i went to see Jimmy Carr live and the funniest part was when he was reading jokes sent in by the audience!
youshallnotpass9 · 13/08/2021 00:27

@Famousinlove its expensive mistake to make, I now make sure I have seen at least one show on the telly first.

the mischief theatre and whose line is it anyway were the two things that kept me going though lockdown. Well worth the money for both of those. Jason Manford also did a few shows, which I managed to get a free ticket to (all online) and that was actually brilliant, got to know some new comedians and it had Harry Hill on it, who I might go see live because I was crying with laughter at his bit and I have never considered him before.

NigelWithTheBrie79 · 13/08/2021 00:45

@WomanStanleyWoman me too Grin
I knew I had "won" when he told me to calm down and that he was just playing Devils advocate (it was about Jimmy Carr not paying taxes) 🥱

Doublestar · 13/08/2021 00:47

He volunteered during the pandemic as a driver taking people to hospital appointments

And let everyone know about it? How altruistic.

Doublestar · 13/08/2021 00:48

I'm now googling pics of his teeth🤣🤣🤣

MiloAndEddie · 13/08/2021 06:50

I used to like him, then the sleazy cheating thing came out.
Then he seemed decent, engaging with fans etc so I liked him again.
Now he just aggravates me how much he broadcasts all he does for charity like he’s some saint so I don’t like him again Grin

PeterPomegranate · 13/08/2021 06:54

I like him. I knew about the 2012 cheating but not 2018 until this thread.

But on the balance I still like him. I find him funny - not cutting edge but that’s ok. I find him warm. Unless he’s putting on a full time act I think he does try to do good. Yes his teeth are very white but he’s not the only celebrity guilty of that!

Raffles1981 · 13/08/2021 06:55

I just don't understand him. He cheats, lies, makes babies without thinking and then donates to charity, drives people to hospital during a pandemic.... The guy confuses me. Maybe he has a twin?

dworky · 13/08/2021 07:26

He's always seemed disingenuous to me and also not remotely funny.

ChrissyPlummer · 13/08/2021 07:28

@Gettingthereslowly2020 He has only been married twice and is still married to his second wife.

Nah just guilt and worry about public image making him do the charity stuff.
pinkflask · 13/08/2021 07:32

@Raffles1981 Well maybe he’s just…human? I know on MN people are either saints or utter shits, but most of us are a bit of both. You do something shitty, you feel bad, you try to do good things to balance it out…that’s normal!

mustlovegin · 13/08/2021 07:36

What's wrong with his teeth?

BobMortimersPetOwl · 13/08/2021 07:37

I like him. He's a fairly normal fella really, and he's funny. Showing off his house on fb - isn't that something most people do in some way or other? It's a normal thing!

I don't really care about his cheating because I'm not his wife.

RedHelenB · 13/08/2021 07:38

@WomanStanleyWoman

I once got into a row with him on Facebook. He’d posted some rant in support of this clickbait / Daily Mail sad face story about a schoolgirl who’d missed out on a 100% attendance prize at school, when she’d actually only been off for her mother’s funeral. Of course it must have been terribly upsetting for the girl, but it was more than likely an admin error that could have been sorted with a call to the school rather than to a tabloid news desk. I made this argument on his page, partly because I knew he probably only had less than half of the real story, and partly because it annoyed me that he’d made a big thing of saying ‘I’LL pay for you [the girl] to go to Frankie and Benny’s!!’, which was the prize she’d missed out on. How much would it have been - £20 a head? Bob Geldof he ain’t.
But he at least offered to do something.

Thanks. I don't know why I thought he'd divorced and remarried for a third time, I was probably getting him mixed up with someone else.

Taoneusa · 13/08/2021 08:27

I don’t like him either. Not funny and not likeable. Chirpy + Dreary.

PixieBigShoes · 13/08/2021 08:51

A clip kept coming up of one of his shows in which he was laughing at people needing adult nappies. Horrible.

CounsellorTroi · 13/08/2021 09:06

Wanker.

Yes, I feel the same.

Good point. I suppose its just more noticeable with a famous person.
