AIBU to go out for a walk when I'm supposed to be self isolating

Last week we discovered someone in my household has coronavirus.
Dd is staying downstairs as she was here for one night that became 10 days.!
Apart from the usual financial hit it is a small house.
Dh has been his usual moody self and dd has been quite hostile too.
Today we were getting along with some sorting out of old school bits and memorabilia when dd started swearing at me.
I have zero tolerance for this and told her so.Then dh started on about I have a small photo of my late df in the living room while he doesn't have any of his parents.Got a bit nasty and I said I would remove it.
Understandably I'm upset trapped in my room.
It's day 8 of isolation .I live near fields I can walk in avoiding people.
I'm double jabbed with a negative lateral flow test which I've done daily.
Surely I can go for a quick walk.?

Sod it just go. Take a mask and if you see anyone put the mask on. Mental health comes before this covid crap and sounds like you need the fresh air .

Wobblelmyheadplease · 07/08/2021 17:52

No, of course you can't do this!

I sympathise as we isolated for 10 days when my DS had it and I'm used to walking 12,000 steps every day but I bought a 2nd hand treadmill off a friend (who dropped it on the driveway) in desperation. Would never have gone out.

30degreesandmeltinghere · 07/08/2021 17:53

Don't you dare remove that photo!! In your shoes I know what I would be considering getting rid of...
I am double jabbed but still got Covid... Be careful op but I understand your need to escape for a bit...

Burnt0utMum · 07/08/2021 17:53

I'd do it if I were you. The risk is miniscule but the benefits for your mental health are significant.

Track and trace should have called and you and told you that NO you CANNOT GO FOR A WALK.
TooWicked · 07/08/2021 17:54

Yes I would go out. The fresh air and break will do you the world of good.

girlmom21 · 07/08/2021 17:54

I'm sure you're allowed to leave the house for essential/exceptional reasons so if it's that or murder... 🤷‍♀️

But no, officially you can't. But in 9 days you'd be allowed to in this exact situation.

HTH.

Imnothereforthedrama · 07/08/2021 17:55

Personally I would now ,

RyanReynoldsHusband · 07/08/2021 17:55

No you can’t go for a walk don’t be ridiculous. Isolate like you are required to do

Bagelsandbrie · 07/08/2021 17:56

I would go.

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 07/08/2021 17:57

Of course you can do this, your MH is just as important, personally I’d go late evening and make sure I’d not come into contact with anyone.

Lanique · 07/08/2021 17:57

Just go!

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 07/08/2021 17:58

In less than 2 weeks you won’t be required to isolate at all.

shinynewapple21 · 07/08/2021 18:01

In your situation yes I would go. As pp has said take a mask in case you meet someone whilst out . Sorry things are so tough in your household

Demelza82 · 07/08/2021 18:01

People here conflating mental health with dealing with an inconvenient situation . Work on your resilience and stay the fuck indoors.

eurochick · 07/08/2021 18:02

If you can walk without coming into contact with others I personally would go. The government obviously can't say if you live in an urban area you can't leave your house but if you are more rural you can, but the reality is that if you don't meet anyone there is no risk of transmitting the virus.

Serenschintte · 07/08/2021 18:02

I understand you asking. It sounds extremely trying.
Honestly I think we are all adults and can make good moral judgements - you decided if you should go for a walk. Sounds totally reasonable to me.
Totally agree mental health is very important

user1471447924 · 07/08/2021 18:04

How are we almost 18 months into this and people still don’t understand what self isolating means? FFS.

shinynewapple21 · 07/08/2021 18:04

The OP hadn't actually got Covid people! She's double vaccinated and has negative LFT and is planning walking on a field where she doesn't normally come into contact with people .

AgathaX · 07/08/2021 18:04

In your particular situation I would go, even though generally I think people should adhere to the guidance.
However, you appear to have a bigger issue than just this. A hostile child and moody partner. Is this normal for your household?

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 07/08/2021 18:04

Don’t remove the photo

Do go for an isolated walk.

nancydroo · 07/08/2021 18:04

Get you shoes on but stay away from everyone

Wobblelmyheadplease · 07/08/2021 18:05

I was in the same situation. I was jabbed and negative and my child had it.

TRACK AND TRACE TOLD ME I COULD NOT LEAVE THE HOUSE.

It's not a free for all where people make their own rules up. Everyone gets given the same ones. So much entitlement here by so many posters.

Bagelsandbrie · 07/08/2021 18:05

Exactly. Where has people’s common sense gone?
Cattitudes · 07/08/2021 18:07

Just tell dh to put a similar sized photo of his parents and wait for him not to do it. I wouldn't go for a walk but I would take a cup of tea and sit in the garden if you have one.
