I love wearing dresses for work but I’m really struggling to find any online that aren’t mustard yellow or have frills in weird places!!! It’s an office environment so needs to be smart/tailored. MNetters where do you buy dresses for work?

White stuff for summery dresses.

Gap for trousers (petite, and they are washable).

Uniqlo for knitwear

Hobbs for tops (I buy them all in the sale - their sales are actually really good)

Waterlemon · 05/08/2021 21:48

@Stripyhoglets1

M and S. Sainsburys. John Lewis.
Snap! We must have matching wardrobes Grin

But they are the few stores left that I can visit and handle/try on the clothes before buying. I Hate buying clothes online.

They also tend Also to still offer natural fabrics, unlike all the synthetic polyester That is sold elsewhere.

Tickly · 05/08/2021 21:50

If you want the more expensive stuff on a budget you could try vinted or vestiaire collective.

BashfulClam · 05/08/2021 21:54

Sainsburys, Asda and Dorothy Perkins online

Givemebackmylilo · 05/08/2021 21:56

Hobbs
Mine still look brand new after near daily use for 5 years

FuckingHateRats · 05/08/2021 21:56

Zara, Cos, H&M, M&S.

JulesCobb · 05/08/2021 22:01

Dorothy Perkins mainly atm.

I do have a couple of Popsy dresses, which I had high hopes for as they are a good length and have pockets, but the quality of the fabric is dreadful and they bobble fast.

snackodactyl · 05/08/2021 22:03

try JDY at Asos OP, reasonable prices and good quality imo.

ForeverInADay · 05/08/2021 22:03

Mint Velvet

Sanch1 · 05/08/2021 22:05

I use Roman, mid-range prices and good quality.

Phineyj · 05/08/2021 22:05

Popsy are a start up and finding their way a bit, but I have a couple of tunics from them and they've worn well. I don't really fit their dress styles, which is a shame as I love their pockets and prints.

I used to like Wallis for dresses and also Betty Jackson, Black.

snackodactyl · 05/08/2021 22:08

FatFace are good in a sale too

countdowntonap · 05/08/2021 22:09

Hobbs - great fit!

DifficultBloodyWoman · 05/08/2021 22:11

Hobbs and LK Bennett.

I save money and splurge in their sales or at the outlet shop.

clickychicky · 05/08/2021 22:11

H&M

bonfireheart · 05/08/2021 22:13

A few shops I visited for first time this weekend that had nice stuff...

Arket
Other Stories

Gemma2019 · 05/08/2021 22:15

All of my clothes and shoes are from Brand Alley. Many of the brands mentioned above are on there. This week I’ve worn Lulu Guinness, Hobbs, Vivienne Westwood and Whistles for a fraction of the usual price. I’ve had Hobbs and Boden dresses for £15 from there.

VinoEsmeralda · 05/08/2021 22:15

Hobbs, they wear well and they have good sales.
Also charity shops picked up a silk dress for £20.
Used to buy from Mint Velvet but the quality has gone downhill I don't go in anymore.

HugeBowlofChips · 05/08/2021 22:17

Oliver Bonas

The3Ls · 05/08/2021 22:19

La redoute on line well worth a look. Massive range and slightly few different as French good sales

RosesAndHellebores · 05/08/2021 22:20

This why I am so thrilled to work in education even as a senior manager:

Shite stuff
Seasalt
Bravissimo
Boden
M&S
Toast
Cos

Always dresses.

m0therofdragons · 05/08/2021 22:21

Boden sale or second hand, lk Bennett (sale), Sainsbury, m&s, new look.

TheBullfinch · 05/08/2021 22:21

Reiss, Damsel in a dress, Jigsaw, Hobbs, Pure, Whistles, Bjauken.

To be honest though, I haven’t worn a dress for work in quite a while.

BuffySummersReportingforSanity · 05/08/2021 22:21

Shite stuff

...I mean, hey, don't talk about yourself that way! Grin

VenusTiger · 05/08/2021 22:23

@RosesAndHellebores
